Hey Eileen! And Kyle! Hope you both had an awesome Christmas. How neat that you make gift tags out of the cards. I also did not know St Jude's no longer wants cards- how did you find that out? I usually send mine there too. Instead I was going to send them to Joscelyn's kindergarten class as the children use them as well, but I wasn't aware that ST. Jude's wasn't doing that. What are you going to be up to for New YEars? We are boring= will probably hit the hay before midnight. New Year's DAY is the best day to go shopping- the stores are empty and quiet but you can still do all the holiday sales. I'll be keeping tabs on you guys. Love and hugs

Hi Eileen! I have been meaning to answer your questions all week and I am FINALLY here! Ok, here we go- 1> Fav memories are watching the MACY parade and smelling the yummy food cooking when I was young. Mom wasn't a big cook but on this day she was!! A funny memory is once my girlfriend and I decided to drive to a local state park (30' away) and GOT LOST and were both late for our dinners!!! We were only 16, new drivers and this was also before cell phones. Needless to say, we both got in trouble *after* our parents saw we were alright!! LOL 2> We usually do the same thing for our meals-turkey, dressing, mashed taters, yams, broccoli, cranberry salad, rolls, pumpkin pie, and occasional different side dishes. 3> We have had 34 meals at my mom's house, but last year I finally was able to host it as it appears I will be doing for quite some time as our house is largest and mom isn't in the best of health (as you well know). Monte's parents are local as well but unfortunately they choose not to be a part of our lives. But that is a whole 'nother story... Hope your day is WONDERFUL and week PEACE-FILLED!

My baby sister is a graduate from the Concoria University in St. Paul. She and her husband were at the campus in St. Louis for a couple of years and now Pon is a Vicar in LA.

Woo hoo! I got my LIVESTRONG bracelet yesterday! :) I was going to take a trip on down to Nike Town (I live in the town where Nike originated) to get mine, but a team was selling them Friday/Saturday at Relay For Life, so I just got mine there instead! :) Now it is worn on the wrist opposite my Pink Julianna Wish Bracelet! :)

I took a peek at your photo album today and I've got to say that you and Kyle are two VERY good looking people. I don't think I've ever seen a picture of you two before today. Kyle is a VERY handsome young man!

I was also fortunate enough to see Chessie and Riley too! Riley is the spitting image of my baby, Marble. I swear they could be twins! Marble is the one who sleeps on my pillow when I go to bed at night. He's also famous for climbing on someone's shoulder and going to sleep. He's definitely my favorite (but don't tell the other 2 I said that!)

this might sound a bit bizarre, but bear with me...
i spend a lot of time in the scriptures, especially the psalms and proverbs; investigating the questions i have through the cross references.

there is a lot of animal sacrifice beginning with adam and eve in the garden after they tried to hide from god. they tried to hide their nakedness with clothing made from leaves but god, in his lovingkindness, creating far more durable and suitable clothing by clothing them in skin. (he slaughtered an animal).

then their children (cain and abel) offered vegetation (cain) and animal (abel) and it was the animal sacrifice that found favor with god. the whole book of leviticus is very specific (god's instruction through moses) about the sacrifices.

let me interject at this point that i am NOT advocating animal sacrifice - further study clearly reveals that those practices were ended and a new way of worship was instituted (offer to god a sacrifice of prayer and thanksgiving)...

let me get to the point i'm trying to make (and i pray you don't take offence)
if chessie died but a child miraculously lived; would it be more bearable to live with? you know i love my little sushi and i still cry about losing our first cat useless (due to someone else's selfishness), but if i knew a little lost child lived because of that death i would have good reason for joy.

i have meditated a lot about the ancient religious practices as well as our methods of worship today, especially in light of my current concerns with these deadly diseases. i have agonized over how to pray more effectively and pleaded with god to help me understand why some live and others die; why some get the so hoped for miracle and others do not. i have studied how these ancient worshippers tried to persuade god to help them and i've often wondered if there's something else i need to do to see more favorable outcomes.

i don't have the answer to these questions yet but i comfort myself in thinking that if something bad happens, god being a god of justice, brings about something much better.

I am SO sorry to hear about your cat, hon! Believe me, I know first hand how hard this must be for you. In 2002 we had to put my VERY first cat to sleep. He was 10-years-old and had developed diabetes. His condition was pretty much unmanagable since the disease was detected so late. We held on to him as long as we could, but we finally ended up putting him down when he seemed to be in pain. He could hardly walk, he wasn't eating, he was peeing all over the place (his bladder was VERY weak) and he was nothing but skin and bones. I took pictures of him the day he was put down and a bunch of them still hang on my fridge. I had that boy since he was a kitten and it still breaks my heart when I think about it.

I'll be praying for that sweet little kitten of yours. I'm hoping (very much so!) that Little Chessie will make a complete turn around and will be back home in your loving arms in no time. However if that isn't meant to be, I pray for you to be strong enough to go through this extremely difficult time.

have lots of fun bussin' it around town and going to the zoo. em and i used to do the same thing - i sure miss those days :( we even came up your way and did it - went to chinatown, sunned ourselves on the side side beach, rode up lakeshore drive, shopped @ the watertower. it was a wonderful weekend. (i lived about 10 years in milwaukee and would come down from there sometimes too.)

i just need to say this to you.
Is GOD really looking out for all these sick children? i just really am mad at him for some of the things that he does to nice,caring families. you just talk alot about himso i need to know some good words of encouragement ,(i guess) about the way he is working. me and my daughter never ever did ANYTHING wrong to ANYONE and she ends up with cancer. i think EVERYTHING!!!!!!happens to me & my family, ALL the time. i'm not kidding either, EVERYTHING!
i need to know WHY????????????? you cant answer this question but could you give me somthing to go on? i'm very very angry with him and not sure i will EVER forgive him for this that he puts us through, also all the other families who should be having healthy kids. it's not fair al ALL!!! these children need to grow up and live life. i needed to say this with you in hopes to maybe help me through these very hard times with my 5 wonderful kids. thanks for listening to me. sorry i took so long getting back over to you :(

i've been helping my friend nancy with her yard work
and baking and finishing up the school year (she's a
reading readiness teacher & a grandma & expecting 2
more grandbabies anyday now & has company coming this

I have been so so so busy that I have really not made 'the rounds' of other pages in a bit.
Oh, and when Rob gets this job, I will tell you what it is!
He is an executive chef. Until the end of the Olympics, he was payed well. The 2002 Olympics really messed with the food and beverage economy around here. We are hoping he will get a different job that actually pays him what he is worth!
Anyway, swim lessons on the horizon! I will get better at visiting more consistently. I promise! :)

Hi EJ,

Your festival sounds fun :) Here in cincy (the queen city)we are having TASTE OF CINCINNATI where all the restaurants set up booths all up and down central parkway and sell "tastes" of their cuisine. It's also a competition and there are prizes for the favorites. It's one of our best summer festivals (especially since we all seem to love to eat!!!) There are bands playing too.
HOWEVER, today it is raining :(
(people will go anyway though)

I am sorry. I have run away from caringbridge for a bit. Many things why. Michelles and Maxies passing. Along with so many others. It hit me hard. The nice weather, Aizees being done with chemo, to only be put back in the hospital for low counts and fever, etc.

God's Wings
An article in National Geographic several years
ago provided a penetrating picture of God's wings.
After a forest fire in Yellowstone National Park ,
forest rangers began their trek up a mountain to
assess the inferno's damage. One ranger found a bird
literally petrified in ashes, perched statuesquely
on the ground at the base of a tree.
Somewhat sickened by the eerie sight, he knocked
over the bird with a stick. When he gently struck
it, three tiny chicks scurried from under their dead
mother's wings.
The loving mother, keenly aware of impending
disaster, had carried her offspring to the base of
the tree and had gathered them under her wings,
instinctively knowing that the toxic smoke would
rise.
She could have flown to safety but had refused to
abandon her babies. When the blaze had arrived and
the heat had scorched her small body, the mother had
remained steadfast. Because she had been willing to
die, those under the cover of her wings would live.
"He will cover you with his feathers, and under his
wings you will find refuge." (Psalm 91:4).
Being loved this much should make a difference in
your life.
Remember the One who loves you and then be
different because of it.

don't drive faster than your Guardian Angel can fly.

Hi Eileen, Thanks for sending me the email on adding a hyperlink. As you know from reading Maxie's guestbook, my son Jacob is 8 yrs old & was dx w/Rhabdomyosarcoma on Dec 5, 2003. We are are still pretty "new" at using terms & abbreviations & are trying to get better at updating Jacob's page. We had been trying to figure out how to add the hyperlink for quite sometime. Your son, Kyle, is adorable. Jacob has 3 younger brothers, Joshua 6, Jeffrey 2 1/2 & James 10 months! Thank you for having a "buddy" list. We have seen that on Connor's page & last night after visiting Maxie, I went to Chance & Zachary's page. I'm just now getting to the point of visiting & signing guestbooks. I guess that is part of the acceptance of this. It's amazing how God can allow others to touch our lives so profoundly. I am so glad that you have found a church. I know that it really helps to have a place where you feel like you "fit". We were at our church in Houston for 6 yrs before moving to the Austin area & it took us about 3 yrs & several churches to find that "fit". There is no way that we could make it through this w/out our faith & God to carry us, as well as our friends & family. Thanks for visiting & spreading smiles & encouragement. I know how much it means to us.

Thank you for your awesome webpage. I think it is wonderful what you are doing. I have a 20 year old daughter that was diaognosed with Osteosarcoma in 2002. I know that without God , family and the support of friends that I would not have made it through. My daughter is in remission at this time. This type of cancer is a bone cancer , but can be found in the lungs. I have a prayer request. On the chest Cts that she has had in the past there is always a place showing up on her left lung. It has been determined that this is scar tissue and not cancer. It is never in the same place each time , which is why they say it is not cancer. Niki has been haveing pain in her left lung. A TB test was done and it was negative for TB. She was treated with antibiotics for two weeks and a chest xray was done last week and it showed a small place that appeared to have fluid in it. Monday March 8th she is to have a needle biopsy done . I ask that you and anyone you know to remember her in your prayers. This kid has such a zest for life. She is the love of my life.I know prayer works. There is so much power in prayer. That is what has brought us this far. Thank you ahead of time for your prayers. Sincerly

Just loved that poem, it's so true.
I have been trying to "just take one day at a time" recently.
Mainly because I'm just dead tired of worrying. It really does wear you down.
Worry is like a blanket, it doesn't give you security it just covers everything else up.
I realised that by continually trying to live in "tomorrow", "next week", "next month" I was letting today pass me by.
Plus I find that I'm having problems remembering everyday things. Probably because my mind is already working overtime.
Keep up your great work, I see you in almost every guestbook I go to.

You're not a NASCAR fan?!?!?!? Well then, I'm not sure if I can speak with you any longer. Hey, if I haven't disowned my own Mom for not being a NASCAR fan you don't have a chance of it happening to you. I have to admit though that Jeff and I are excited to see our first race this weekend. Samantha's excited too, but only because I say so. She's at that age where she could care less. Did I ever tell you we brought her to her first NASCAR race {Busch series} last year? THAT was an experience!

Ok, I'm not even sure why I started this message since I don't have time to write everything I want. I have exactly 4 seconds to get off my butt, run out the door and make it to my doctors office on time. Wish me luck!

Hi there hon.

You better believe those cakes were oh so yummy. I'm surprised we have some left. Not much, but enough to keep me surprised. They came out looking great, I think. I was VERY happy with where I got them done and I plan on going back there again should I need another special cake made.

Are we NASCAR fans? Fanatics sounds a little more like it. Are you into NASCAR at all? Jeff wasn't before we got together, but I soon made that change. hehehe. He didn't have a favorite driver when we met, but now he has the most wonderful taste in the world because he likes my boys. Woohoo! Slappy, on the other hand, still needs some help in knowing who's a good driver and who stinks. I'm trying VERY hard to help him out in this department.

Well you and Samantha certainly have something in common. Samantha is a HUGE fan of country music. She listens to one of our local stations all the time on the radio that's in her room and I swear she has absolutely every song that they play memorized. She's amazes us when she starts singing a song, beginning to end, word for word. I'm guessing she'll have a career in the music industry, doing something, when she gets older.

I can't even begin to tell you how jealous I am of you and your son for getting to miss growing up with The Wiggles. Don't get me wrong, they're great and are wonderful for children but I'm about through with them. Samantha insists on listening to her Wiggles CD {more specifically ONE song} over and over again throughout the day. And her day is also shot should she miss the two Wiggles episodes that air on TV in the afternoon. She missed them one day and sat in the middle of the living room for the rest of the day while saying, "Wiggles please" over and over again.

Samantha is also a HUGE Spongebob fan, courtesy of Jeff and I. We have to admit that we're also fans and can't stand to miss an episode. Samantha got a TV and VCR from her Grandparents as a Christmas present, so she's constantly watching her Spongebob videos in her bedroom. She can't get enough of them. She LOVES Spongebob. In fact, that was the theme for her second birthday. We'll probably have to repeat it in the future though since I'm sure she won't remember it.

My little insomniac is sleeping right now since she insisted on getting up {and getting myself up too, I might add} at 4:30 this morning. Don't ask me why. But that little butt of hers will have to be getting up soon since we have some errands to run and she has no choice but to tag along.

I hope everything is going well on your end with you and your son. By the way, if you don't mind my asking, what's his name? You never mentioned it and I was curious.

Hello. I was very good friends with Morgan Geddings. She had cancer also... I'm not sure or not if you have heard of her, but she was a wonderful girl just as yours I'm sure. Morgan was diagnosed on May 28, 2000 and became an angel on December 1, 2001. I know that it is very hard to deal with but remeber with God all things are possible and He is in control. Hi guys, sorry to see another family on Caringbridge.
Way too many kids, I had no idea until it hit us just how many there are....
Oh geez, you are with Hugs & Hope... I already know from Donna my daughter has sent emails about the dollhouse since Oct., and has written everything from "forget about the bunny, they got me a kitten" to " I think my mom and dad are getting divorced". She is very systematic with her Santa mail that kid, and starts out very early!
