He bought me an egg and lots of chocs

Loved the update Gina! Always thinking of you guys!! Way to go Drew!! Dave began school Aug. 10th...7th grade...he had chemo the day before!! But he made it through the day and it was a long day 9-3:50pm....he's determined to hang in there...apparently his protocol goes until March 06...it's an 18 month one...gosh he's been on one protocol or another since 6/03....cannot wait to stop feeding those toxins to him!! Praying his scans remain clear...sending lots of hugs and prayers your way!! God Bless.

There is something to be said about the resilience of children when battling an adult cancer. I look at the pictures of Drew and in spite of all the treatments, he is growing strong and tall. I pray that this continues.

Great News Gina!!! So happy for little Drew and the entire family, as we are fully aware this disease effects everyone! I sure do know where you are coming from about the poison....I hate that Dave has been on chemo since June 03...with that break last summer for him to regroup (the gliadel wafers were implanted so I felt sort-of protected>>) but it's looking like the doctors want him on this protocol until March 2006!!! That will be about 2 years and three months of chemo plus the 33 radiation treatments....I'm just as nervous with him on this stuff as I'am off it!! David does not want to be on it until March and he has input according to the docotors...so we shall see.....you guys are always on my mind, we're in the same fight, prayers of wellness, healing and a CURE!!! Hugs from rainy South Florida!!LOL

Well Gina it looks like we both got the news we prayed for! Thank God!!! We both know how aggressive this disease is, I will continue to keep Drew and all of you in my prayers. Please, keep me updated...I know we really never did get to have that phone call...we tried...we will again soon. Dave will continue to get MRI's every 6 weeks.....this protocol from Duke is suppose to go 18 months, due to the fact that he relapsed almost a year to the day...the weird thing is, we normally get MRI's in May each year, but due to the hurricanes everything was shifted, so the next one is June 2nd. Well, take care and again..Thank God for the good news!!!

You must think I slipped off the face of the earth...I go in spells of not doing the rounds of guestbooks for no other reason then time...or there lack of....especially with my older two...my daughter has started modeling and the castings are 160 miles round trip...can't do it too often though...too much time away from the other two....Dave is on his protocol indefinetley.....well, they say 18 months but we don't know...the problem? Dave said he's stopping for the summer...wants to go to New Jersey as usual and NO CHEMO he said.....well you know that stopping isn't really a choice right now (he started up again in Sept. 04) but he's made up his mind.....I'm not getting into it with him at this point....maybe Children's in Philadelphia will administer it.....it's so tough because he's got a very strong definete personality, he's almost a teenager and he wants to just have fun....so, I'll cross that bridge when I get to it...meanwhile...God Bless and hugs and prayers to you and yours and YYEEEHAAA for that MRI!!!!

I sent this letter to the Today show after seeing a story about a lady in Texas whose son was over seas helping the tsunami victims. He ask her for some stuffed bears or toys to give the children. I kept thinking about all the ones I have now that need good homes. All the ones that look at me every day. Most never even met my Angel Maxie, they would love a child of their own. I saw your story about the "Bears For Tsunami" and I have a question. My Grandson Maxie (10) just passed away this past March. He was given a lot of stuffed toys. Some we would love to give to new homes. I know the lady in Houston in your story does not want all the bears in the USA sent to her. Can you tell me can they be sent to you. Can make sure they get to the right people to be given out.

I also thought about eye glasses also. I know all the people lost those too.

I keep thinking of all the wonderful people I have met this past 2 years that have lost children to cancer, that must have a lot of the same stuffed animals I do. I bet they just do not know what to do with now either. What a great gift it would be in our Angels memory to give them to the children of the tsunami.

Hello. Clay and I were just thinking about Drew and hoped that he was doing okay. I'm glad to read that he is. I will pray that he has a clean MRI in January. He's doing so good!!!! It makes us feel good to hear that a little one is doing so well with GBM. Although Kheli is an Angel now we will continue to fight in her honor by staying on top of current research and ways to support the efforts. As we reflect on all of our blessings this Christmas Eve, we think of Drew. Even though this innocent child has been through hell, he has taught us and continues to teach us all how to brave the impossible, to love unconditionally, and to freely express happiness and joy at the simplest things. At Stephen's concert last week, it was such a pleasure to see the pure exhuberance of glee as Drew was dancing to "Jingle Bell Rock" and having the time of his life. Gosh Gina it's been awhile since I've been by.....soooooo happy you too had the clear MRI experience! The holidays are tough enough with everything else....it's just nice to have this blessed news.....we go back again the end of January or beginning of Feb. And glad to hear all went well with Drews dental work. Funny, the year I was on chemo my teeth were effected as well...and I had been on coumadin because all around my port I had developed blood clots...meanwhile the dentist didn't want to touch me...which I can understand so I waited out like 3-4 months and figured all would be fine...I ended up having all 4 wisdom teeth pulled, two crowns and some cavitites filled...this happened in a years time and I was always the twice a year dental patient (my uncle is a dentist)...chemo can really do a number on the teeth! I really would love to talk with you...I know we tried awhaile ago...phone tag is normal when everything else is so chaotic! After the holidays I will try again!! Meanwhile, have a wonderful holiday and lots of hugs and well wishes to you and yours!!!

Drew, my daughter had to have similar dental surgery. She had to have to be sedated, had two molars extracted, spacers put in, a root canal with crown, and seven cavities filled. She was a trooper, just like you. I hope it goes easily for you from here out. Just checking in on you and hope you feel better from your surgery.

Gina that's such good news about Drews scans! He is such alittle warrior! I know we have to talk soon!!! Life gets so busy and it seems lately when I have time to talk it's after 11pm at night! Just know you guys are in our prayers and thoughts and I'am sorry Drew's experiencing pain with the temador...can the doctor prescribe something stronger? Or give benedryl at night with it, so he can just sleep? I have a script for benedryl for Dave on those not so great nights...it does break your heart when they are in pain or nauseated....I try to find meds that off-set it all on those particularly bad days. Will check back soon and hopefully we get to talk soon too!

What a beautiful family. We will put you on our prayer list. My mother was dx 1/11/01 with a gliobalstoma multiform. She had surgery, radiation and 1 year of chemo. Seems like so long ago now. She continues to have stable MRIs with no brain tumor activity. She is followed by the doctors at Duke.

One thing we have learned is "THERE IS HOPE!!" I will monitor your website to see your continued good news.

Drew and Family...Hi, I'm from the PBT board. I had not realized that Drew and Hadley were diagnosed on the VERY SAME DAY. Had's first CT was around 4pm on 4-22-04. I read the loving tribute on Alex and Johnny's story. Very moving. My son Johnny had his first lung surgery at 3 days old. He is now going on 10 years old so I understand the nicu heart ache. Dear Drew, Glad to hear you have finished radiation. My daughter, Sarah, is almost 7 and finished her radiation in April. She is also taking Temodar cycles. She just finished a cycle last week and it takes her a couple days to feel better. This week she is feeling much better. She has a 12 year old brother and 9 year old sister. Sarah has an anaplastic astrocytoma, grade III in her cerebrum. She doesn't have a web site yet, but we are thinking about it and admire yours. She likes to hear about other kids like her. Drew you are just so cute and so very brave! Hi Gina, I got Drews website through pediatric brain tumor group. My son David was diagnosed with a GBMIV last 5/6/03. He had the 6 weeks of radiation, 42 days of temador- then 10 rounds of temador which finished May3rd/04...he had another brain surgery 5/19/04 for re-growth in the same spot...they implanted the gliadel wafers this time...they do not suggest he has anymore radiation due to the huge amount he had last year...so we're going away for awhile, he just was so angry with the results but seems to be bouncing back to his old self...he will start a new chemo at the end of July- CPT-11.....it's also oral..if you need to talk let me know we can exchange #'s...I understand how tough this battle can be...keep up the great positive attitude and God Bless!
