Journal

Today I am truly grateful for my health and life experiences. As I am writing this, I’m in my backyard, under a tree, on my patio swing. It’s Memorial Day weekend. The family went to the pool and last night I went to a local nature park. The last few years I was struggled with my health over the summer months and it felt full of uncertainty. Now I’m full of hope with this pace of life. I had my 2 days of infusions this past week and already I am perking back up. A recent infection was treated from home where I want it to be. Today is a good day and I want to keep it that way. The help and care both at home, the balance of medication and communication with the right doctors seems to have reached a wonderful rhythm
My trips to the doctor and treatments feel more routine and good things are happening. I’m filled with confidence when I can share that I’m doing well. I smile, my doctors smile and the goodness of God faithfully follows in both the happy and hard times.
Geoff needs prayer. It is good news that he is attending a partial mental health hospitalization program with our local hospital. The way he got into the program is such answered prayer.  He leaves early in the morning, spends an intensive day there, sleeps at home and returns each weekday. In another week they will evaluate how far he has come. I hope he senses the progress I see. He is learning new coping skills, as well as speaking with others that are dealing with similar symptoms. His meds have been monitored and adjusted under supervision. I am so proud of his willingness to seek out help, cooperate and fight these battles. He is helpful, caring, considerate and loves the Lord, but some habits, hard feelings and chemical imbalances led to his cries for help. I’ve dealt with similar seasons. I’m glad he is getting support, safety and stability to deal with it all. He is setting better goals, and creating boundaries to navigate this road and remain safe. Please pray for him. He is asking me to tell people that he needs prayer. He wants the power of prayer to mend and feel better. His job has given him time off but he plans to return.
Britt is in driving school. It is a lot for her and even though the desire is there, the skills are complicated to learn and this creates a lot of anxiety for her. She will keep trying each week, yet she knows that if it’s not right for her, that there is no pressure. I hope it gets easier and easier. She turns 30 this summer.
Jenn has a dance recital in June. This year has been really fun for her. Her social life is very active and hard to keep up with.
After the Muscular Dystrophy doctor retired, the local MD clinic ended, but a local doctor started a new program last month. The oldest 3 are getting plugged in. We even met a geneticist who gave us good information. God is the only one that knits together each of our days. I’m grateful that they have the local care team to guide them.
Emily just got a new bed that she really wanted, making her room more her own. She is going to Sight and Sound in June and taking a friend. She was able to secure health insurance so she hopes to get back to treatment for painful foot, ankle and Achilles tendon concerns.
Our kitchen damage from February is still in the works of being resolved so we are still not able to place items back into the cabinets. I can’t wait to find that special spice needed or find the simple ingredients required. Our meals have been so much more simple and our living room still has the boxes of our emptied contents, yet I’ll forever be thankful that damage was all contained to that area.. In the mean time we have been trying to I feel like our yard is getting a bit better each year and is less overwhelming to deal with. We have wonderful neighbors and many fun outdoor community opportunities that make this time of year so desirable . I’m soaking it in before it gets too hot. These long lit days are absolutely my favorite.
As always, thank you for your love, support, care and prayers.
