What happens when you have stubborn veins... You get an IV in the inside of the wrist and the edge of the hand!

Be grateful you have those awkward places to put them! I just had an mri w/sedation yesterday, and I kid you not, it took 4 different anesthesiologists, 5 different nurses, ultrasound, vein finder, and FIFTEEN pokes (which is actually significantly less than previous times for other tests, procedures, surgeries, admissions, etc). to finally get a line in. 24 gauge (the ones they put in babies) in my foot. Had that final attempt not worked, they were going to do a femoral line in my groin, or an EJ in my neck. What I wouldn’t give for my “awkward” spots to still have decent veins, like they used to before I started having all of my health issues. Anyway, just wanted to leave that quick note which will hopefully help encourage you, so you can realize how lucky you are to still have those awkward spots as options!
