Jan, I am so sorry to hear about Jeff but I have great hope for him. Twnety eight years ago I had a stroke which effected my left side and speech and was off work for three months. I had no physical therapy as it was not in vogue at that time. It took me almost a year to get my strength back and to not fear another episode. The cause was never determined but it was a blood clot that broke off from my heart. The only medication that I take related to the stroke is a aspirin daily. In essence that is why I am optimistic that Jeff will have a full recovery.

I read a happy article in the newspaper
this morning about Charlie, a 70 pound
tortoise who lives in a pet store. Nine days
ago, he pushed opened the front door and walked
out. Well, he was found yesterday about 2 miles
from home...a little muddy, but contentedly munching
grass. There was a cute picture, and it looks like he is
smiling...but, actually, he tried to push that door open
again! There will be a Welcome Home Party
for him tonight, and the couple who found him will get
$1000!!! And Charlie will party on 2 of his favorite
foods: carrots and sliced apples. That pet store
couldn't have better publicity than this!!

I know what it is like to see children pick on your baby. It is so hard. I have to admit that I am probably not as kind as you though. I would have ripped that boys arm off and hit him with it. :o) (Kidding, sort of)
I hope that is one of the very few times that your sweet girl has to deal with that. She is so precious. I really wish more people taught their children how to be accepting of others.

Hi Shannon, I am so sorry to read that Samantha was subjected to the taunts of a peer. Of course, my children don't have autism, so I know I can't completely relate, but it's very painful when we can't save our kids from hurtful things. You are very wise in how you handled the situation, crying and all. You have to get it out! You said that you wished Samantha were normal so that she could be treated normal. Sadly, today, she was treated very normal. Kids are sometimes very mean. I see my boys do it to each other and try to teach them, but it still goes on.

Its is Racquell (Pita) I know I havnt signed for awhile ...things have been crazy hecktic in Kansas with the end of Marcs school year and the BULLIES at his school ...Ed and I have been up to Marcs school so meany times I cant count once was because one of his teachers called him (STUIPED) infront of the whole class ...you wanna talk livid that was nothing compared to how I felt ...you see Marc is in special ed and this teacher had the nerve to call my kid stuiped ...I think it hit me much harder then it hit Marc ...I cried for the hurt that my kid felt ...I dont understnd how anyone could tell a child that they are stuiped so that the child uses that word on other kids it is truly mind boggling to me ...Stuiped as far as I am concerned is a cuss word ...
I just wanted you to know that I know how you feel just cause our children are diffrent (we all have the same tool boxes it is just the tools that are diffrent ) dosnt by no means mean that our children are stuiped ...it makes me angry to think that anyone could tell anthor person that they are stuiped
I was always told that when I was growing up I was in special ed as well ...By no means am I stuiped ...I can help take care of our kid and pay bills I pay taxes and I do the best of my abilty ....
I will tell you that it is people like that who make this world a ulgy place ...but you know what everyone isnt like that and most people care ...
I wanted to come up and tell you Happy Mothers Day I just got to rambling for your journal touched a place deep in my heart and I truly understand where you are coming from

Oh Shannon,
I'm so sorry you had to witness that.
That is one of the hardest things about
being a parent; wanting to protect them
from all the mean, ugly things that go on
in this world. Unfortunately all we can
do is try and prepare them as best as we
can to try and deal with these situations
when they come up. Surprisingly the kids
usu. deal better than us parents do!!
