Welcome to Autumn's Web page! This page was created to keep everyone updated on Autumn's progress.
Autumn is 6 years old. She was born November 25, 2001. She was diagnosed in October 15, 2003, at age 23 months with Wilm's tumor Stage 3 favorable histology on her left kidney. The tumor was so large that they were unable to do surgery right away to remove it. She started chemotherapy and eventually had radiation to try to shrink the tumor. Although this did not work, she had surgery in February of 2004 and the tumor was successfully removed along with the left kidney. She had no other signs of cancer present. She finished her chemotherapy in April of 2004. She had clear scans and had her port-a-cath removed in May of 2004. She is now on a follow-up with ultrasounds and x-rays every 6-12 months. Clear scans in May 2008!

Saturday, August 30, 2008 8:44 PM CDT Hey Everyone!
I guess I haven't updated in a while-All is GREAT! Thank you to all who might come by and still check on Autumn or those new to her site.
We have had a really fun summer! Lots of activites for Autumn-she had swimming lessons, T-ball, kickball, and summer dance. She enjoyed most of them-kickball was not a favorite but tolerable I guess :-)
Another highlight of summer? CAMP JORNADA!!!!! It was so much fun! Autumn spent her second year there and I volunteered again as much as I could be there. What an amazing camp, amazing kids, and an amazing experience for anyone who is there! We got to see old friends and make a lot of new ones. I even let some of the kids cut my hair off for Locks of Love and managed to raise some money at work and with friends to support camp as well. Autumn loved it all and was so tired when she came home! She is already talking about camp next year!
We are now the proud parents of a happy, healthy First grader! Autumn starts school next Tuesday. She is so excited to be able to go every day to school (lets hope this lasts!) She met her teacher last week and he seems like a fun guy. Autumn learned to read many sight words in Kindergarden and has expanded this greatly over the summer. She is able to read on her own quite a bit and she loves to read to Calvin at bedtime when we do our stories.
Calvin is growing like a weed and funny guy to us all the time. He is going to his second year of preschool at a new location and he is really excited because he gets his same teachers, who are wonderful! Marissa will be 1 in October and I can't barely believe it. She is crawling, pulling herself up, and trying her hardest to walk..I keep telling her no, but she won't listen:-) She is just a little Miss Happy Pants..we have to actually start calling her Marissa though-she only responds to "the baby"...ha!
Autumn is 4 years off treatment now and will hit that magic 5 year date on April 9, 2009...but I don't need that date anymore to get me through. I know she is going to be just fine. We don't even have scans again until next spring/summer..it's hard to imagine but so good to know that right now there is no need for any pokies, tests, and so forth. We pray that she never has the need again either! So far, our prayers have been answered!
thank you all again for stopping by..Not sure when and what I could update about..We are enjoying and appreciating every minute of life these days!
Take care, Mel
