My story of caring began on February 6, 1992. Someone placed a bomb on my front porch right in front of my bedroom windowat about 6:00 am and then detonated it.
I awoke to the smell of burning plastic. My partner who was 7 months pregnant was in bed with me as well as my 13 month old daughter who suffered a TBI traumatic brain injury.

The bomb was meant for me not my daughter or her mother or her unborn child. We all went to the hospital. Mom was hurt pretty bad as was my baby daughter. I was released from the hospital a few hours later and went to Childrens hospital to be with my daughter. I slept in a chair for almost 6 months next to her bed until they released her into my care and we moved to Oregon. Her mother signed custody papers turning her over full custody to me and we left California. That was about 31 years ago and her and I are still together here in Oregon.

My baby daughter is now 32 years old and I will be 80 in September and I am still her full time caregiver and I am worried about her future as I have had lots of experiance with group homes and some are pretty good and others are horrible but I do not have any family that would be willing to care for her into the future. I have already asked.
