Our story began when our 18yr old son Jeffrey suffered a fall resulting in a traumatic brain injury on July 26, 2008. A family friend who was a nurse advised us to start a caringbridge site to keep family and I days at the hospital we could just write a post on the site instead of having to call and inform the concerned people. What we did not expect was for Jeff's story to spread throughout our city and beyond and for the site to become a beacon of hope and thousands of prayers and well wishes. Unfortunately on Aug. 3 Jeffrey succumbed to his injuries and we left his body behind to be an organ donor. Incredibly the caringbridge site continued for a number of years and a total of 64,894 visits. We would periodically update our caring community as to how we were coping with our loss and we always got many loving responses and messages. The caringbridge site we created for our son became a soothing balm for our shattered souls. So much love was poured out to our family that we were overwhelmed. We still go to his site each year on the anniversary of his accident/death and re-read many of the heartwarming, uplifting wishes and prayers. This year will be the 15th anniversary and we always donate to caringbridge. We have told many friends and acquaintances about it, spreading the word of it's help and value. Thank you caringbridge for helping to make the worst event in our lives just a tiny bit easier to endure. We will be forever grateful.
