Throughout my husband’s cancer journey I was at his side. As he grew weaker, I was the one who bathed and dressed him, connected his gtube for nutrition, kept his bedding clean and attended his needs. Most importantly I was at his side holding him and loving him. The hardest was to let him know that it was okay to go. I knew that I would be devastated and broken. Yet his peace was more important than anything else. His battle took everything from him and his quality of life had taken him to a place where he never wanted to go. He was holding on for me and I had to let him go. He deserved better. I miss him too much and I wanted him to be at peace!
