Miguel’s Story

Site created on November 21, 2020

Dearest family and friends - We are using this site to keep family and friends updated about Miguel/Dad/Papi in one place, this is NOT a solicitation for donations or financial support. We appreciate all the kind words of hope and encouragement over the past few weeks as we have faced the unexpected. To scale back on the amount of phone calls/texts/emails we send to provide updates, we will be using this site for the most up to date info. Thank you for visiting and please feel free to leave comments. We may not respond to each one but we assure you we are definitely reading them all!!

For those who do not know the history, Miguel went into the hospital in November 2020 for a procedure (TAVR) to fix a weak valve in his heart. The surgery was successful, but his already weak kidney (singular) was not able to process the toxins from the dye necessary for the procedure. He was in ICU for several weeks and never fully recovered. The last few years have been a cycle of doctors visits, hospital visits, and constant worry.

You will see in Gretchen’s latest journal entry that he is now at home in hospice care after this last visit to the hospital. We are just glad that he is in the comfort of his own home for his final days.

You are welcome to call or text Mercedes (Cede) at 202-468-2202 (tel:202-468-2202) or Gretchen at 203-804-8033 (tel:203-804-8033) with questions.

Much love,

Christine, Gretchen and Cede

Newest Update

Journal entry by Mercedes Price

It is with full hearts we share the news that Dad passed away peacefully yesterday. Gretchen, mom, and I were holding his hands and telling him our favorite memories during his final moments. He fought hard for as long as he could, and we know he can now finally rest.

We will not have a traditional service but will plan a celebration in July around the time of his birthday. Details forthcoming.

Thank you all for your support. We love you all so very, very much ❤️

Now, please go have some rum and remember the good times.

Love,

Cede, Gretchen, and Christine
