Busy Tuesday for Lisa! She had a relaxing morning with Scot and Caroline since she didn’t have any therapy until 11.
She’s still periodically sad and wasn’t willing to do physical therapy in the room today, so they went outside for a walk, played catch and then walked to a park and played some frisbee golf. She had a good Speech therapy session too. They worked on writing out words of the week, and month, along with other common words with corresponding pictures and numbers followed by trying to say the words which is new for her. Her writing has gotten so much better!
During occupational therapy she did some pegboard games and puzzles and went downstairs to play pool too. Later this week they get to go to Safeway in a van to buy ingredients to make pizza. Speech and OT will put together a shopping list and recipe with pictures so Lisa can help shop. Friday they get to go to putt putt golf. These outings are such a huge step forward for Lisa. Up until now she really hasn’t been in a public space other than the hospital. Going to a grocery store could be overwhelming for her with all the people and things on the shelves. But it’s a great way to see where Lisa is at too.
She goes thru bouts of sadness during the day and is always mad when Scot has to leave in the evening. Unfortunately, there just isn’t much we can do for that until we can make her understand more about what happened to her. I’m so pleased with her progress so far. It’s been almost five full months since her fall and she has made unbelievable strides. She’s going to have a really hard, emotional year ahead of her, but we are all here to love and support her! ❤️
