Thanks for all your support & prayers!

My husband, Dave Saj, was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma (a type of plasma cell, blood cancer), on 3/30/10 after being un/mis-diagnosed for over a year.
On 6/12/10 Dave and I were married early due to the fact that he was supposed to be in a stem cell transplant during the time period of our original wedding date on 8/6/10.
After 4 months of treatment in Buffalo, NY in which Dave was not responding, the opportunity to come to the UAMS Myeloma Clinic in Little Rock, AR came about with help from my sister Melinda.  We got to Little Rock on 7/25/10 planning to only be here for one week.  After a week long of testing and appointments, we were given a treatment plan.  UAMS has been so amazing; they were taking twice daily blood draws, would call us if he needed a blood transfusion or other medical attention, almost everyone being served were Myeloma patients, and everyone in the waiting rooms said that this was the best place in the world to be if you have Multiple Myeloma.  With all of this, we decided that we had to stay here for his treatment.
Dave has received chemotherapy and is responding well to treatment.  We are currently preparing for his first stem cell transplant... the rest of the story you will find here in the Journal section!

Journal entry by Jen Ehlinger-Saj

I look forward to seeing many of you tonight.  Just wanted to share a few details.

Parking:  The church does not have it's own parking lot, parking is on the street, so I encourage you to carpool if possible.

Sharing:  The main piece of the celebration will be time to share stories.  I hope that you'll stand up at the microphone and share, but if you aren't comfortable with that, there will be paper available to write a story and leave it in a box.  I know I will enjoy reading them and cherish them.

Food:  All are invited and encouraged to stay after the service and enjoy a great meal catered by Amici Ristorante.  We'll have meatballs, tortellini, rice balls, cheese, fruit, wraps, and crab stuffed mushrooms and desserts generously provided by the church deacons.

We invite you to celebrate Dave's life this Tuesday November 22, 2016 at 6:00pm at Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church, 875 Elmwood Ave, Buffalo, NY 14222.  This will be an opportunity to worship God in song and word and share stories of Dave's life and then enjoy food afterwards.  Dave and I talked a lot about what he wanted his service to be like and the most important thing to him was that there be a time for people to get up at a microphone and share memories.  So, come prepared to share if you so choose.  As you may know, Dave wasn't much for dressing up, so come as you are, if you feel more comfortable dressing up, do it, if not, come casual, just come in respect.  (I'm sure he's appreciate some cargo pants!)
Looking forward to celebrating a well lived life, cut short.  God bless!
