Jen,
I've been thinking about you a lot these past few days and you will be in my thoughts tonight as you celebrate Dave's life. God Bless you and your family.
Hi, I worked with Dave what seems like a long time ago when he lived in Oneonta and worked at Charlotte Valley. While he was my coworker for only a short time, he made a big impression on me. As I am sure you are well aware, he was an amazing human being. He was caring and thoughtful, and also possessed one of the sharpest wits and senses of humor I have ever encountered. I knew he was a character, and wonderful person, when we first met him. He drove out from Buffalo for his intereview here at Charlotte Valley, realizing about half way that he had forgotten his shoes. He walked in to his interview with his dress clothes and sneakers. Rather than be embarrassed about it, he make a joke and that personality was one of the many factors that helped him get the job. I also remember watching the events of September 11 with him. The look of sadness on his face about the future for our students was something that will stick with me for a long time. We were very sad to see him leave Charlotte Valley, but realized it was best for him personally as his mom was very sick at the time.
I hope that you and your family can find peace at this difficult time, and can enjoy all of the wonderful memories you have of Dave. He was truly a remarkable human being who will now be watching over all of us from heaven. Rather than losing a loved one, we have gained another guardian angel.
Jenny! Wish I could be beamed back to Buffalo to participate tonight.
My memories of Dave are him loving you. And you loving him. A perfect pair.
And of him picking me up in his van to take me to the airport one early morning. I felt so bad asking him to wake up so early but he was filled with joy that he was able to.
You gave him so much joy every day, Jenny.
Xoxo
