Journal

So this is a catch up post…I was going to write earlier in the week and then realized I had an appointment today that would tell me more news, so I decided to wait to post.

Last Wednesday-HER2+ infusion (no chemo drugs). It was fast and easy and no side effects! So nice!

Last Thursday, I had the lumpectomy and sentinel lymph node removal. Dr B was able to get clear margins on the tumor and had to remove 5 lymph nodes. Surgery seemed to go well and I was home that afternoon with no major symptoms or issues! Healing has been pretty good over the course of the week as well.

Today I don’t have too much pain, but I am still dealing with some swelling in the lymph node, which I hope goes away soon. I feel like
I am rubbing my underarm raw because of the swelling-not an awesome feeling in the heat!

So I got my results this morning from the surgery and according to the Dr it’s good news! So I am riding that wave for now! They removed all the cancer cells in the surgery! Great News!….Right?
Well there was still a 3mm residual cancerous tumor in the breast and 4.5 mm positive lymph node that was removed at surgery, which means chemo treatment didn’t fully work…I think I ate too much sugar during chemo- feeding the monster (😂).
Anyway, what does this mean….
Well, 30 rounds of radiation (6weeks) going everyday starting in July. Radiologist spoke with Dr B and they are going to do the more intense radiation instead of more surgery (to remove all the lymph nodes)  So I am thankful 🙏 for this for sure!!!

Will there be more chemo because the cancer was still there…not sure? Hoping not! Radiologist didn’t say anything about it so hoping it won’t come up down the road, but of course I will update you all of that is the case.

Feeling hopeful but have this little thing in the back of my head and bottom of my heart causing me to feel uneasy. I think I’m just tired of the process!

I did calendar everything left and if it all stays on track, I will finish my last treatment on Dec 30th. If that happens I am ringing that bell to bring in the New Year 2025 cancer FREE!

🙏🙏🙏🙏
