Journal

Brad has experienced some breathing issues and gets easily winded. His hemoglobin has been low, likely from the chemo so he was able to get a blood transfusion the morning we left for Florida. He felt great going into our trip, but caught Bronchitis quickly and that made breathing a struggle again.
Given the demanding nature of a Disney trip we decided to get him a scooter which made things so much easier. We truly had a wonderful trip and enjoyed making great memories together. The kids were in their glory and it was so much fun seeing Disney through their eyes.

We did end up with an unwelcomed souvenir... the stomach flu! This one made its way to everyone in the family and Poor Brad had it on Mother's Day/Gwen's birthday. He spent the day in bed and then woke up on Monday with severe pain that landed him in the ER. He had an MRI and luckily they did not believe that it was the mets on his spine (or new growth) that caused his pain. His Oncologist said it could be a protruding disc, nerve pain or it could be mets on his thigh bone, but overall we felt relieved to know it wasn't something super scary. Pain is something that is common especially with bone mets so he did encourage us to meet with a Palliative doctor later this week. Needless to say it has been a rough few weeks, but I think (hope) we're rounding a corner.

Trial Update--Last Wednesday Brad had his first dose of the trial drug (Oric) and then beginning today he'll begin taking it daily. He will take this in conjunction with Darolutamide (an FDA approved drug). They monitor him very closely early on, so he spends about 10 hours in the hospital on trial days and needs to return to the hospital the next day as well. Oric is an oral medication so in-time, as they confirm he is tolerating things well he won't have to spend as much time in the hospital. We'll continue to update here and will know more about impact in about two months when they do the first scans.

We also wanted to say a heartfelt thank you for all of your prayers, love and support. We could not be more grateful, and we know we have a lot of people in our corner.
