Journal entry by Shauna Couick

After speaking with several of Brad's Oncologists both at Levine and Mayo they agreed that he needs to move on to a trial as quickly as possible. Oric-944 (click HERE to learn more) is a trial at Levine so it has the benefit of being close to home, but also is one that he could start quickly. Yesterday we met with the trial nurses to sign the consent and get started on the qualification process. He submitted labs, EKGs and will have a Brain MRI tomorrow. We are able to use the scans from a couple weeks ago as well which makes things a bit easier.

When the Cancer spread to Brad's Liver we made the decision to move our planned family trip to Disney World from next January to this April. This trip delays the start of the trial by a week. Right now time is of the essence, so its a very tough decision but one we did not make without input from our Doctor. There is always risk especially with a Phase 1 trial, and the truth is we don't know if this will work for Brad. We are always hopeful, but we also want to focus on spending this time together as a family and making meaningful memories with our children.

In the meantime we are also exploring a lot of other options and next steps. I will share them here, but I know this may be more detail than some are interested in.

CarolinaBioOncology - Specializes in Phase 1 Clinical Trials -Appointment April 22nd, to discuss options

XCancer- Similar to above but specializes in Urological Trials. Appointment May 16th, to discuss options (we may have to move depending on Levine appts., since this requires a flight to Nebraska)

Emory- We are working on securing an appointment to discuss trial ARX-517 (learn more HERE

Keeping regular appointments/communication lines open: Dr. Kwon (Mayo), Dr. Stish (Mayo) and Dr. Sartor (Mayo), Dr. Armstrong (Duke)

SageMedic- Appointment this evening (virtually, they are out of CA) to discuss Precision Medicine - somewhat controversial but essentially they test potential treatments on the tissue of a cancer patient.

BostonGene -Another precision medicine company

NEMO testing (working on how to obtain this)

We are aware of many treatment alternatives; high vitamin c, Joe Tippens Method, Various Teas etc. and we are open to considering anything as long as it doesn't have any risk for toxicity and will not impact Brad's ability to qualify for trials.  We know people are trying their best to help and we appreciate the love and compassion we have been shown. Please continue to keep Brad in your prayers. Thank You.
