We are heading home from Augusta. Boone’s appointment went well. We got to see all of the areas on his left arm and the donor site on his right thigh. The graft on his left forearm was successful and looks like they wanted it to. The graft on his left hand was really small but unfortunately failed, as did a part of the graft on the upper arm. The area that didn’t take on the upper arm is about the size of a deck of cards, give or take. There will not be any more grafting, so the areas where the grafts were unsuccessful will just have to heal slowly on their own. There will be more scarring at those areas but thankfully should not affect his movement/functionality. His thigh just looks like a big scrape and is still raw but pain is improving. His bandage is much smaller there so he can get back into his regular size shorts and we can return our neighbor’s clothes… Thank you Walker ;)
He will not be cleared for regular activities until all the areas are healed. Our next appointment is Monday the 20th so we are keeping fingers crossed that he may be good to go after that appointment. He really wants to go back to school and see his classmates before summer. We are also rooting for clearance so that he can graduate from a nightly chicken bath to a real shower! 🤣
