Journal entry by Katie Brooks —
Boone is out of surgery and we are already heading back to Duncan! The surgeon ended up having to do more grafting than he expected to include Boone’s left hand near the thumb, a strip on his left forearm, and most of the back of the left upper arm. We have been told that the “donor site” on his thigh will be painful but right now he is still getting pain relief from the local anesthetic and IV meds. Pray that once this wears off, his pain will be minimal and well-controlled with minimal medications. Boone has still been so brave, confident, and calm during this entire journey. I am constantly reminded of how amazing he is. Thank you again for your thoughts and prayers this morning and moving forward. We are so blessed.
