WOW!
Can you believe it? School starts in less than 2 weeks, and our sweet Logan will be a 1st grader! We are so excited, and a little blown away that that baby boy is in school! We are going to conquer the crowds today. After all, it IS TAX FREE WEEKEND, and you save a whole whopping 8.25 This is bigger than the day after Thanksgiving! No wonder Wally "had" to work today! I don't think I blame him. We'll see how it goes...

One week from today, we are going to a "reunion" of sorts. We are for the first time in years, going to meet up with Peyton and her family, Weston and his family, and Griffin's family. Peyton's awesome grandparents have graciously offered their lake house for the weekend, and we're gonna party like rock stars! We haven't told Logan yet, because once he finds out about it, there will be no end to the excitement. We can't wait!

Please keep Logan in your prayers. We are scheduled to go back to the clinic Aug. 16th to find out if some minor "issues" that Logan has been having are because he is 6, or because of something else. I'm not ready to go into complete detail just yet because this really could end up being nothing at all, and I certainly don't wan't to get anybody concerned. Just keep him in your prayers just like you have always done.

Our wonderful friend, Peyton could also use some extra prayers. Miss Peyton had some "spots" show up on her last set of scans, and she is going back Aug. 15th I believe for repeat scans. Visit her website and let her know you're thinking about her. For those of you who weren't along this journey with us when we first started, Peyton was a life saver for Logan, and showed him that this cancer and chemo stuff was really no sweat, and her mom and dad were just exactly what we needed.

BIG KUDOS to Logan's cousin Maddux, who just this past weekend, went with his baseball team "The Predators" to win 2nd place in the nation in baseball! WAY TO GO MAD DOG!! We are so proud of you, and wish we could have been there to see it! YOU ROCK!

Well, the kids will be waking up soon, and I better get in the shower. Have a great week, and I'll post after school starts, and have some pics ready! As always, thanks for stopping by!

Hello friends!
Hope this finds all of you doing well, and enjoying a wonderful Father's Day. Logan and Luke want to tell their Daddy how much we all love him, and what a great dad we think he is.
To Chief, Jerry, and Lynn - we both think you guys are probably three of the greatest men we've had the pleasure of growing up with. Thank you all for the great example that you've set for Wally and I. We are so blessed to have you three in our lives, and our kids are so very lucky to have you as Chief's and Papa's. We love you all.
*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!
As you can see, there has been a change to Logan's website. Hope you enjoy the pictures as much as we have. We were incredibly fortunate and honored to have Dusty from Double Exposure Photography spend some time with Logan and capture him, well...being him! There are many more wonderful pictures, and if I could fit them all on here I would. Thanks again to Dusty for all you've done so that we can show of our beautiful kids.

Logan is enjoying his summer, and already bored. He is enjoying going to his grandmothers every day, and getting to spend some time with Luke. Those two are quite a pair, and they "entertain" each other. I think in all honesty, they actually spend more time entertaining Wally and I, but they are good friends for the most part. Logan is still very loving and affectionate towards Luke, and Luke is quite the demanding little brother. They go well together, and keep Wally and I on our toes for sure.

We got to take Logan to see "Cars" about a week ago, and he is still raving about it. It is now mandatory to go to McDonald's at least once a week now (as if it weren't before) so that they can get the newest "Cars" figurine. I have to admit, that we enjoyed it as much as he did.

As of right now, we don't have any big summer vacation plans yet. We are going to make it down to Fredericksburg for a family reunion in a few weeks, so we will probably use that as a fun mini-vacation. It is always fun to go and catch up with all of the family.

Most of you may already know that the Caringbridge community lost one very special little boy last week. Jacob went to live with Jesus last Sunday after a long and faithful fight with cancer. Please be in prayer for his family, which includes his two twin brothers, and an older brother.

Hope all of you are enjoying a HOT summer. Hold your kids especially tight, and give extra hugs. Thanks for checking in!

Today was Logan's Kindergarten awards program at school, and Wally got to go and watch. Our little Logan was the "star" of the show...

*"Bear Cub Award" - for being a great story teller and having a super attitude

*"Happy Award" - for always being happy

*Math Award" - for being able to count to 100

*"Six Flags/Weekly Reader Award - for completion of required home reading(received a ticket to six-flags!)

*"Terrific Kid Award" - for excellent citizenship, must be nominated!

We are so proud of Logan, and thought we'd share his accomplishments!

Hello-
Hope all of you have had a wonderful Easter. What a beautiful day to celebrate our Savior's resurrection! We are so incredibly blessed to have a loving Lord who would die on the cross to save us from our sins!. If you really take a minute to think about what a huge sacrifice that was, you just can't help but get emotional.

Logan's Nana and Chief came over to go to church this morning, and then the boys and Wally and I all came home to do some yard work. Once again, some of us did more than others, but what a beautiful yard we have to show for it. Well... It's getting there.

This is going to be a short one, thanks for dropping by. Please keep all of our cancer fighting friends in your prayers!

PRELIMINARY REPORT!!!
lOGAN'S PEDIATRICIAN CALLED AND GOT A REPORT! LOOKS LIKE IT'S A STAGE 2 REFLUX, AND CAN BE TREATED WITH DAILY ANTIBOTICS! THANKS FOR ALL OF YOUR PRAYERS!

UPDATE!!!
Wednesday, April 5th, 2006 5:18PM
Logan did exceptionally well during the entire procedure this morning. God's presence was certainly felt, and we continue to be amazed by the power of prayer! It will be tomorrow at the earliest before we know any results, all I know is that there is "significant reflux", but when I pushed the tech to tell me any more than that, she completely dodged the question. We were able to hear the Radiologist speaking to and instructing the intern on what he was looking at, and from what I heard, it didn't sound too positive, but at the same time, I didn't know exactly what they were talking about, either. We can wait another day to find out more before we start worrying about it. Thank you all again for your prayers, they were certainly felt today! I will post more when I know more!

Logan's VCUG is scheduled for tomorrow morning at 9:30am in Dallas. Please keep him in your prayers, as this might be pretty stressful for him. I'll update as soon as I know something!

UPDATE!
Ok, so here's the scoop. Some of you may already know, but for those of you who don't, here goes.
Logan had his routine 6 month Oncology scans last week, and we saw his Oncologist (Dr. Tomlinson) first, then went to Radiology Dept. for chest x-ray and abdominal ulrasound. The chest X-ray was "unremarkable", which in layman's terms, looks good. The ultrasound wasn't so perfect, but not necessarily "bad" either. When Logan was on the table, the tech asked him repeatedly if he needed to go to the restroom. His answer every time was flat out "NO". After 4 or 5 times she leaned over to me and said "Mom, do you see this?" I answered her that I did notice that his bladder was full, and I figured that was to be expected. This was about 11:30am, and he had had nothing to eat or drink since about 8:30 the night before. The filling of the bladder was expected, and just something that the body does. She then pointed out that his ureter looked extremely full, and that was a possible symptom of ureter reflux. To make a long drawn out story a little shorter, I'll jump to the point. While I was at work yesterday, one of the receptionists came and got me out of a room, and said "Children's is on the phone for you, and I thought you might want to talk to them". I came and answered the phone and it was Dr. Tomlinson herself. Of course my heart stopped. You never want the doctor to call you, because if everything is normal, a nurse will always call. The first thing out of her mouth was "It's not a tumor, and it's not Wilm's tumor related per se. She explained to me what we had kind of already known, that the ureter was unusually distended, and the Radiologist had called her to discuss it. She said that in a "normal" child with 2 kidneys, they would probably just administer antibiotics, and keep a close eye on it. Logan is a different story because he only has one kidney, and we need to protect it at all cost. So, from here we will schedule a VCUG, which is a procedure done in the Radiology department, where a catheter is placed, and they will monitor the progress and path of the urine and possible dye to see if it is truly ureter reflux. Worst case scenerio, surgery, best case, antibiotics. Not a really big deal in the grand scheme of things, just something to pray about. Wally and I are just waiting to hear when the procedure has been scheduled, and we will go from there. Please keep Logan in your prayers. We haven't gone into a lot of detail with him yet, and probably won't until closer to time. He heard everything that the tech said when the ultrasound was being done, and got a little nervous. We don't want to make him upset for no reason. Please pray for guidance for Wally and I on how to prepare Logan for all of this. This is nothing compared to what else Logan has already been through, and we have great faith in our Lord that He will take care of Logan. Thank you all for your love and support. We'll keep you posted.

Hi!
This might be a long one, so bear with me if you can! First off, BIG CONGRATS to Angel Griffin and his family on the new arrival of his baby sister, Sydney Paige Yarbrough. Go visit www.caringbridge.org/tx/griffinyarbrough for some beautiful pictures of the dainty little thing! Since the last time I have journaled, we have lost a few dear friends, and we're praying for the families left behind. One of them was sweet Elisha. Elisha went to be with Jesus a couple of weeks ago, and although we are so thankful that he is walking hand in hand with Jesus, we still can only imagine the pain that his mom, Mary still feels on a daily basis. Please visit Mary www.caringbridge.org/tx/elishahenderson and let her know that she is in your prayers.
February 9th of this year marked the 2 year mark since Logan was diagnosed with cancer. In so many ways, I am so very thankful for the blessings that God has allowed us to have in our lives stemming from that horrible diagnosis. If it weren't for the pain that our sweet baby suffered, I would probably go as far as to say that I am so thankful that our family was allowed to go through that, and feel so closely God's hand guiding our paths. What a remarkable feeling.
In our adult lives, I think we sometimes are allowed to go through what we might categorize as stressful times. I am going through one of those now. Although my kids are both perfectly healthy, and mu husband is a wonderful, Godly man, I find myself feeling "stressed". I am honestly having to learn how to "Let Go, and Let God...". I explained it to my wonderful Sunday School teacher like this. I am perfectly fine handing my life and everything along with it over to Him. However... I have a really hard time with butting in... I want to give my suggestions to God, as if He needs any help! Almost like, Ok God, here it is, please fight my battles for me, and handle my situation, but here's how I'd like for it to go. On the way to work this morning, I found myself asking Christ for guidance with this "situation" I'm having. After He and I had our little conversation, I turned my radio back on, and that song that goes "Where do I go when I need a shelter, Where do I go when I need a friend, Where do I go when I need some helping, Where do I go, back on my knees again..." came on the radio! It made sense to me. Almost as if He were saying "Ok, Marcie, let me deal with it"!
I have said all of that, to say this... I think that we as humans, do our very best to handle things on our own, and fight our own battles. How wonderful would it be if we could all just figure out that all we have to do is fall on our knees and ask for help. Most things seem so trivial when we look at the "bigger picture".
1 John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, {even} our faith.
Ok, I think I have said all that I needed to say, just felt the need to put that out there, and now that I did, I feel much better.
Hope all of you are doing well, thanks for stopping by!

FINALLY AN UPDATE!!!
I know that is what many of you are thinking, so I went ahead and said it for you! Please forgive me for the lapse in update. As Usual, no news is good news.
Logan continues to do well, and is an exceptional 5 year old. He is doing incredibly well in Kindergarten, and loves it! He has a wonderful teacher, and has made several good friends. Of course because of the chemo and such, he has quite the compromised immune system, and seems to catch every infection within a 50 mile radius. In normal circumstances, I would be concerned at the number of days he has missed form school, but the teacher, principal, and I all agree that because of the circumstances, there will be not a word said about it. He still seems to keep right up along with his class, and seems to be right where he should be intellectually speaking. We are quite proud of him, and so blessed that he enjoys school so much.
One of the minor setbacks (if you could even call it that) that we have come across from the chemo, has been in the dental department. It seems that lovely Vancristine (chemo drug) has done quite a number on Logan's teeth. BEcause of that, Logan has already lost 8 -- Yep, count em' 8 -- teeth, and will be having some pretty extensive dental work done in the next few weeks. Wally and I aren't about to complain, because if these are the only things that Logan has to deal with, then Praise God, at least we still have Logan here in our lives. We can certainly deal with the little things, and teeth are nothing to complain about.
Luke is growing up so fast, and Logan is just the worlds greatest brother. Those boys are going to cause major problems growing up, and we can't wait! (Somebody remind me of that statement in 7 or 8 years...) We are so proud of both of them, and can't wait to see them together in years to come.
In February, Logan will be due to go back for scans. Although we know that they will come back clear, please keep Logan in your prayers.
Thanks for remaining faithful readers, even when the updates are few and far between!

Hello!
Hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas, and preparing for a glorious New Year! We had a wonderful time with family, and considering the weeks leading up to Christmas, we were thrilled to be with family and out of the hospital! This time it wasn't Logan causing all of the commotion, but his little brother, Luke.
The week before schoold got out for the holidays, Logan was in and out of the Pediatricians office, and the ER. He was having a horrible time with what we thought was a cold or the flu. He had stopped eating, and running horribly high fevers. He got over that within about 5 days, and then being the generous brother that he is, he passed it on to Luke.
Well, Luke decided to take it and run, and wound up with a horrible case of RSV. He was rushed by ambulance to Cooks childrens hospital in Ft. Worth on a Thursday, was released on Saturday, and then within 24 hours, we were rushing him back to Cooks where he would once again be admitted, this time for almost a week. Praise God, many prayers were answered, and we were released on Dec. 23rd. Just in time to come home and prepare for a wonderful Christmas.
This is where I will pause for a second, and give a heartfelt THANK YOU to our family and friends who dropped everything to help us through this. We appreciate all of you oh so much, and we pray that God will bless all of you the way that you all have been a blessing to us.
Needless to say, both of the boys are once again feeling up to par, and we are looking forward to spending some much needed quality time with family real soon.
I need to update more, but baby Luke just woke up, and he's letting the whole neighborhood know that he's awake.

Thanks for stopping by!

Sunday, November 20, 2005 8:00 PM CST

Hi!
Just a quick update tonight, because I've been promising for a while now. Notice the Christmas background, because I believe in being far ahead rather than far behind... HA!
Things have settled down once again in our house. Most of you know already, but for those for didn't, we had a little bit of excitement last week. Logan fell and broke his collarbone while "enjoying" a day off of school. Luckily he is healing quite well, and acting as though nothing ever happened. The running joke has been that by the time Logan is 10 years old, he will have had every childhood illness and injury known to man, and from there it should be smooth sailing!

Logan is doing terrific in school, and in fact was nominated by his teacher for a citizenship award called "Terrific Kid". We are so very proud of him, and he is such a sweet boy who thoroughly enjoys school. We are blessed in so many ways by being allowed to be his parents!

Luke (as you can see by the pictures) is growing up so fast! Between he and Logan, we certainly stay on our toes!

As Thanksgiving draws near, please take a minute to reflect on this past year, and all of the many things that God has given us, and just how much we have to be thankful for.

I am thankful for a wonderful family. My husband and two precious sons are so much more than I could ever deserve. I am thankful for an extended family who is somehow always there for us to rejoice with us, and pick us up when we have fallen, and all of the times in between. I am thankful for all of the wonderful things God has done in our family over the past couple of months. I am so blessed to have the opportunity to have a spiritual leader in my home who loves the Lord and his family more than anything else in life. I am thankful for a wonderful church family who supports us and believes in an amazing God. I am thankful for the country that we live in, and the people who fight so hard and give so much to protect it. I am thankful for the roof over our heads, and the food for our bodies to make us able bodied to make it another day. I am thankful for the friends that God has given us to encourage us when we are down. I am thankful for our health. I am thankful for the peace that comes from Christ even when we don't understand why things are going the way that they are. I am thankful for you, all of the people who have prayed for our family and for Logan over the past few years.

These are just a couple of things that I am thankful for. Thank you all for being a part of our lives!

Enjoy your Thanksgiving, and remember the reason for this Holiday Season!

In Him-
Marcie

! ! ! N E W P I C T U R E S ! ! ! !

Hi!
I know it's been a while, and I promise that I will try and do better about updating. Keep in mind, that no news is always good news around here.
Where do I start! About 6 weeks ago, Wally and I decided that we would try and start looking for a church home. I have a friend at work who had tried a tiny Baptist church here in town, and said that the preaching was out of this world. We decided that that church was as good any to start our search with, so we went there. After that first service, we were blown away by the sermon, and we were pretty sure that this might be the home for us. We went back the next Sunday, and half way through, Wally and I both knew that this was where God intended for us to be. We felt so at home, and that church was alive and growing. We knew that we needed to join the church. Wally had indicated to me that he was wanting to make some pretty serious decisions, and so I called the church, and set up a meeting with Wally and I, and Brother Lonnie, the preacher. To make a long story short, Wally has accepted Christ as his Savior, I have rededicated my life to Him, and we have all joined the church! What a wonderful feeling! Logan is loving church, and we finally have the peace that we have been searching for for so long.

About two weeks ago, Logan was complaining of side and back pain, and the lymph nodes in his neck were about 4 times the normal size. Up to this point, we have always been confident that Logan would not relapse. However, looking at Logan who is complaining of the same symptoms that he had at the time of diagnosis, I have to say that I was terrified. I had every thought running through my mind, and no matter how hard I tried to shake that feeling of gloom, I just couldn't do it. I kept saying that I would feel so much better if he was acting like he didn't feel good. If he had flu like symptoms, I could have easily written this off as an infection. So, I once again called our Pediatrician who said that she wanted to have Logan come in for some lab work, and that we would be able to tell what was going on by drawing some lab and a urinalysis. I was a basketcase, and when she called later that evening, to say that everything was ok, I have to admit that I wasn't convinced. I knew that Dr. Simpson (Pediatrician)was going to make a call to Dr. Tomlinson (Oncologist), and depending on what she said, then I would relax a little bit. Of course Dr. Tomlinson went into major detail explaining to Dr. Simpson how Logan's cancer was treated as though it were a Stage 3 due to the focal anaplasia, rather than the Stage 2 that it actually was. Due to that, chances of Logan ever relapsing were in a medical world were slim to none. Wally and I talked alot about how now that God was in control of our family, that Satan would do anything and everything that he can do to cause our faith to waiver, and make us lose focus. How great is it to know that God truly is in control, and that He can and will fight our battles for us!

Logan is doing great in school! They have a behavior chart in his classroom, and when you have good behavior all day long, you get to keep your "green" bear. If you get in trouble once, you get a yellow bear, twice a red bear, and three times is a grey bear with punishment accordingly. Logan is doing so well, and has gotten green bears every day except for a couple of days when he's gotten a yellow bear. He is still loving school, and really likes his teacher, and "Hannah", the little girl I told you about before. He is learning so much, and surprises us every day with the things that he comes up with. He has just about gotten the alphabet thing down pat. There is a little boy in his class who seems to be picked on quite a bit, and tends to be the fighter. On Thursday I was taking Logan to school, and I asked him what he thought about this boy. He told me that this child was the one who always got in trouble, and he's a pretty mean kid. I asked Logan what he thought he should do for him, and laughing he said "Hit him back?" I was appalled and said "NO, what do you really think you should do for him?" Logan said "I know, I can be his friend". I told Logan that I thought that could be a good idea, but asked if there was anything else he thought he might could do for him to help him out. When he said he couldn't think of anything else, I asked him if he thought he could pray for him. Logan got every excited and said "YEAH!!! I can pray for him! Want me to do it now, you want to hear me?" I said, "Well I guess you can do it now, if you are comfortable doing it out loud". Logan said, "Ok, mom, here it goes, are you ready for my prayer?" I at this point am ready to start tearing up nd expecting myself to cry like a baby at this prayer I am about to hear. Then Logan gets started. He says...
"I pledge allegiance to the flag..." and proceeds to recite the entire pledge. When he was finished I was crying alright, from laughing so hard! He was so proud of himself, and said "Did you like my prayer mom? Was that a good prayer?" Out of the mouths of babes!~

Logan and Luke are looking forward to Halloween. Looks like Logan is going to be a Blue Power Ranger, and Luke is going to be a horse. We gave them their costumes yesterday, and I filmed tham both. Of course when I went to get the camera, the battery was dead. I'll take some pictures when they go trick or treating, and I'll post some on here.

Sorry this one was so long winded, I had so much to tell you all! Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great week!

Marcie

Hi!
It's been a while, so I thought I probably should update. Not a whole lot going on around here, and we love it! Logan is still loving school, and it so far has been no problem getting him up and going in the morning! If only we all woke up in such a good mood, ready for the day. He continues to be good friends with "Hannah", and thank goodness she is a good kid, or we might all be in trouble. Logan couldnt begin to tell you the names of the other kids in his class with the exception of a couple of kids. His entire world has already been taken over BY A GIRL!!! What have we done with our sweet momma's boy?
We have had the hurricane Katrina talk, and without going into graphic detail, we have tried to explain this horrible disaster to Logan as best we can. He seems to understand most of it, and wants to do his part to help. We have learned of several "refugees" who have come to our community, and we as a family have done what we can. I think the sweetest part of the whole ordeal was when Logan offered to give up his allowence in order to do his part. We cannot be any more proud of our son, than we are right now. It is times like these that make us think that we might have actually done alright as parents this far in raising our kids. Our hearts and prayers go out to all of those involved in this heartbreaking tragedy.
Luke is the spitting image of his brother, and Logan continues to be the World's Greatest Brother. I think they have a pretty good time, and Luke just doesn't understand why he can't do everything that big brother can. Being the youngest of two kids, I now understand why the older kids need their time too.
It has been such a nice, relaxing long weekend. It is going to be so hard to get out of bed tomorrow morning and get back in the routine. 5am is getting closer by the minute! Luckily the kids have already had baths, and dinner is in the oven! Yes, mom, I am cooking!!!
Hope all of you have a great week, and thanks for coming by!

If you need a pick me up, and proof the God still works miracles, go see Jacob

The verdict is in, and WE LOVE SCHOOL!!! Logan had a wonderful first day of school, and cannot wait to go back tomorrow! His teacher's name is Mrs. Bennett, and she is such a sweet woman (so far)! He has really taken to her, and I think that she might kinda like him too. After all, what's not to like!
He has made a brand new (girl) friend named Hannah, and they sit across from each other in the classroom. From the way Logan talks, they hang out together all day, and he really likes her. Her parents are really good people too, and we got to meet them all Monday night at Meet the Teacher.
Logan talked about all of the different colored "bears" that represent behavior for the day, and he got a green (perfect) bear the first day! He got to play with play-doh at one station, and leggos at another table. He says that they had to take a nap for a whole hour (in reality it's 35 minutes of rest), and he claims that he took a nap. From the way he was so exhausted, I doubt he took much of a nap at all, but he was so busy all day with new things, that I could see how that would wear anyone out!
In a nutshell, that was Logan's very first day of school. I'll keep ya updated as the week goes by!

SCANS ARE CLEAR!!!

Logan and dad went to clinic on Wednesday, and as we knew they would be, the scans came back clear. Now he only has to go back for check up in 6 months, and our understanding is that if the scans are clear then, at that point we will be able to move up to yearly status!! YEA!!!

Thank you to all of you who have to continued to check in on Logan, and be a part of our lives. We are so grateful for your support, and appreciate you thinking of our family.

Logan starts school on Wednesday, and he is super excited. I'm sure we will be a ball of nerves that day, and he will do fine, but who would want it any other way! He has already picked out what he wants to wear that day, and lucky for us, it matches! I'll be sure and post pics of the big day as soon as I can!

Hello!
Hope all of you are doing well. I apologize for the delay in updating. I will make this one worth it by posting some pictures while I'm here,
Logan is doing great as always! He goes in for scans tomorrow, so we are all expecting wonderful results. If all goes well like we know it will, Logan will be able to go for scans only every six months rather than every three like he's doing now. That will be so nice, and we are so thankful that he has come so far. It's kinda like a new beginning for us. He starts Kindergarten on Wednesday the 17th, and we are all looking forward to that. He has been through so much and deserves to have an amazing year! Keep your fingers crossed for all of us that day so that we can keep a level of composure!
Well, it's obviously bedtime for one of the two brothers, so I better get going. Thanks for stopping by!

UPDATE!!! UPDATE!!! UPDATE!!!
Well we thought we were going to have to make a screaming trip to the ER last night. Logan was getting out of the shower and tripped over the ledge and landed face first. To make a long stressful story short, he knocked out his two front teeth on the top and it was a clean break. Because of chemo, he has already lost 6 teeth,so the tally is up to 8 now. We are so glad that they were just baby teeth that were coming out anyway, and not permanent teeth like we originally thought! All is well, and after a late night visit from the tooth fairy, life is back to normal!

I have come to an awesome realization. I know I've said it before, but Wally and I are so blessed to have our children. Last night when I was giving the boys their baths (Logan in the big bathtub, and Luke in the baby tub) I broke down in to joyful tears. The sound of my kids laughing was the greatest thing I could ever ask for out of life. I'm talking about the big uncontrollable belly laughs, where everyone is laughing at everyone else and nobody realizes it. I think about our friends who have lost their kids for one reason or another and my heart absolutely breaks for them. They dont have that precious laughter to look forward to at the end of a long day. My goodness, who would have ever thought we would be here. I could have never imagined going through what we went through, but I can honestly say I am thankful for the lessons learned. I think Wally and I are better parents and people in general and Logan is going to have one heck of a testimony. I have no clue what God holds for him in the future, but I can't wait to just sit back and watch.
In other news, everyone is doing ok around here. I have been super sick for the past week, but I think I'm much better now. Logan is getting super excited for school starting in a couple of weeks, and I think we are too. I'm not sure if it was the whole cancer thing or not, but we are thinking letting him go to school might not be as hard as we had imagined. I guess if he survived cancer, he can probably get through the first day of Kindergarten, and vice versa. He got his new glasses this weekend, and loves them. We think he reminds us of that kid on "Jerry McGuire" that tells Tom Cruise "I gotta go to bed, my Mom is coming..." What a cutie!
Luke is mega spoiled, and we love it. Logan is a tremendous big brother, and is such a big help. We certainly have our hands full, and love every minute of it.
I guess thats about all that is going on around here. Hope all of you are doing well, and enjoying a beautiful summer. Angel Angela, we hope things are ok after Hurricane Dennis. Keep in touch!

Hugs!

Thanks for coming by!

Ok, here's the scoop...
Logan had his 4 year shots (only a year late) on Tuesday, and it was confirmed that he had quite a bit of trouble with his vision. Our Pediatrician called the Optometrist (because there isnt an Opthalmologist in town) and we had an emergent work in appointment scheduled for Thursday. Logan did absolutely wonderful, and it looks like the tests were right. That baby can't see.
His vision is better in one eye than in the other but they are both bad. I believe left eye is +8, and the right eye is +7.5, or vice versa. He is going to get some glasses and hopefully that will help him get a little more out of life. It was explained to us like this. He has never been able to focus on our faces, never seen leaves on trees, and missed the fireworks all together. To this point, everything has been one big blur. We feel horrible of course, but we are thrilled that it is just bad eyesight, and nothing cancer related.
Logan is excited about finally being able to see, and thinks his glasses are at the Harry Potter lab having magic put in them. I'll post pics next week when we get the glasses, and keep everyone informed.

Have a great weekend!

Hello!
Hope all of you had a wonderful 4th! We had a great time with good friends, and the weekend ended all too soon! Logan had his "well exam" and he FINALLY got to get his four year old immunizations. Only over a year late. I guess thats all a part of the lovely game of chemo! Logan did great, and really loaded up at the toy chest.
We are being sent to a specialist, not really cancer related. There is something that we have been questioning for a while, and our Pediatrician confirmed it today. I don't want to go into detail just yet, but I will update you on Thursday after the appointment.
Those of you who know Logan well, know that he has been sleeping in our bed since before diagnosis, and it has been a struggle both from our end, and his. We are super proud to report that he has been sleeping in "his big boy bed" for a week now. He loves it, and I think it gives him that since of independence that he has been needing.
We are getting things wrapped up to get my forever baby boy registered for school. Kindergarten round up is August 2nd, and I feel the tears coming now. I must admit I got misty eyed today at the doctors office just thinking about how far he has come, and how blessed we are.
Ok, I have rambled long enough. Hope all of you have a great week!

Can you believe it's almost July? My time flies ... We have all been doing well and enjoying the summmer. Logan has a pool, and seems to be in the water more than he is out. We really enjoy it as a family, but Luke has to stay cool, and is NOT fond of the cold water. So, Wally and I have to take turns staying inside with him for the most part.
Most of you know that prior to the birth of his little brother, Logan had never stayed with any type of day care or babysitter. It continues to be a day by day basis on whether he likes ot or not. Luckily, his "new" babysitter is a neighbor and also a long time friend of the family who keeps other kids as well. He has good days and bad, and week before last was kind of tough. He has made great strides and we are thankful that we are experiencing this before he goes to Kindergarten in August. I can believe that my baby is going to school in a few weeks. It seems like only yesterday!
Luke is doing good and luckily no more trips to the hospital. He is so infatuated with his big brother, and who can blame him. Logan sings to him alot, and he thinks that is just the funniest thing. We are so blessed to have two wonderful boys.
Please remember Haley's (www.caringbridge.org/ne/haleygirl) family as they are having a tough time these first few days since she earned her angel wings. Let's all hug our kids a little tighter and longer tonight and remember all of the families who are learning to live without their kids.
Hope all of you have a terrific 4th of July! Be safe, and LiveStrong!

Well, to say that when it rains it pours would be the understatement of the century. We have decided that God has a tremendous amount of faith in us to believe that He wouldn't give us more than we can handle! Now, before we get started, let me first say that everybody is ok, Logan isn't sick or anything, but we have been at one of the "local" childrens hospitals this week for a little inpatient stay.
Logan's little brother Luke, who is 7 weeks old, was incorrectly diagnosed with Pneumonia on Monday. Praise God that He either healed our little bug rather quickly, or the two radiologists didn't agree on what they saw. There was a while that he was being treated for Pertussis, which was kinda scary and frustrating at the same time. All of the nurses and therapists that came in the room all had to wear masks and gowns in fear of a terrible infection that could be passed along. We are so fortunate that it was only a cold, and not Pneumonia like we all feared. The only treatment that we are having to continue is the Nebulizer (breathing) treatments that he actually enjoys! What a funny guy!
Thanks for coming by, and for your continuing prayers!

Wally, Marcie, Logan, and Luke

U P D A T E ! ! ! ! !
Hello~
This one will be quick, after all, American Idol is on tonight! Logan had scans today, and as far as we know everything remains clear! We won't get an official report unless something shows up, but we did get the labwork back, and that was great. We knew that this cancer stuff wasn't going to get back in to our lives!

Hi~
Hope this finds all of you doing well! We are having some beautiful weather today, although we had some pretty good storms last night. Of course, the kids and I slept through all of it! Thank goodness the boys are heavy sleepers! Not much is going on around here. Wally's mom seems to be recovering from her fall quite well. Thank you for all of your prayers on her behalf. Logan's little brother Luke turned a month old yesterday, and he is just like his brother, growing like a weed! He goes back to the doctor next week, and Logan goes in for routine scans on Wednesday, so please keep him in your prayers. I am returning to work from maternity leave on Tuesday, so I just might be a nervous wreck!
I guess the most exciting thing going on around here would have to be the car wreck Wally and Logan had on Thursday. Luckily the car was the only thing hurt, Wally and Logan were both fine. Logan actually enjoyed himself thoroughly by telling the officers EVERY detail. The officers were quite entertained, and luckily remembered Logan immediately from the benefit football game they put on for him last year. We'd been asking for some excitement in our lives, I guess we need to learn to be more specific in our prayers!
Thank you for checking on us, and have a great week!

Wednesday, May 4, 2005 8:43 PM CDT

Hello~
Just an update on what's going on at our house. Logan continues to be the Worlds Best Big Brother, and is such a big helper. There is no way we could have done this without all of his help!
Logan has been complaining of a toothache for a couple of days, and we decided to take him to the dentist after another night of hardly any sleep. He saw him, and it looks like the chemo has taken a pretty good toll on his teeth. We are going to be having some pretty major dental work done in the next couple of weeks, and hopefully then we can get back on the right track. Logan did so great for his dentist, and once again, we are so proud of him. He was telling the dental assistant how to take his blood pressure, and she was having to use a new machine. When she was having some trouble finding the right button, Logan took one look at it and said "Uh, I think it's that one, you know the green button!" Of course it was, and the whole office had a good laugh.
Logan took his first crash on his bicycle, and has some pretty good road rashes. He has butchered his chin, and I think it looks worse than it really is. Of course, he is not a complainer, (except for his teeth) so who would know when he is hurting!
I guess that's all that we have going on around here. We hope that all of you have a safe and Happy Mothers Day.

**Mom, Grannie, Melanie, and Cindy**
I love you all, and hope you all have a great weekend. I wish that I could be with all of you on Mothers Day, and I hope you know how much I love all of you. Thank you all for being such a vital part of my life, and teaching me how to be a good mother.**

*** C H I E F ***
Happy Birthday to You, Happy Birthday to You! Happy Birthday Dear Chief, Happy Birthday to You!!! We love you!

Hi~
Sorry it has been so long without an update, but as most of you already know, we have been a little busy. Logan's little brother, Luke, arrived last Wednesday (the 13th), and he is adapting well. Wally and I never imagined what a wonderful big brother he would be. We knew he would do great, but the amount of love he shows his little brother amazes us, and makes up very proud.
Wally's mom is doing a little better. She was unable to have her surgery today due to increased swelling, and I'm not sure what they have done about rescheduling. Please keep her in your prayers.
Logan has had a bout with the stomach bug this week, but we think he might have gotten over it within about 24 hours, thank goodness. Besides one time after radiation, Logan has never had problems with "stomach issues", so this has been hard for him.
Thank you for checking in, and keeping us in your prayers.

The Cherry's
Wally, Marcie, Logan and Luke

Wednesday, April 13, 2005 3:51 PM CDT

Logan is a big brother! CARSON LUKE CHERRY was born this morning at 7:29 a.m. He weighed 8 pounds 9 ounces, was 20 1/2 inches long and looks exactly like his big brother. Wally got to go into surgery with Marcie and it didn't seem like it was more than 15 minutes later we could hear Luke down two long hallways crying - ALOT and LOUD! We got to enjoy a couple of hours of cuddling and counting fingers and toes before they took Luke back to the nursery. They have done a chest x-ray on him and have put him on oxygen this afternoon. Logan and Luke's pediatrician, Allison Simpson, was there before Marcie went to surgery and when Luke was born and has been back two or three times already today checking on everyone. She is keeping a close eye on Luke's condition and assures us that she is not alarmed, just being "cautious" right now. Logan has only been able to see his brother through the nursery window but has declared that "I am very lucky to have a baby brother like Luke." Someday Luke will know just how lucky he is to have a big brother like Logan.

On a sadder note, Wally's mother, Mary, was on her way to the hospital this morning to bring Logan to meet his new brother when she fell off Marcie and Wally's front steps and broke her right ankle and arm. So poor Wally was running between both ends of the hospital - the maternity wing to check on Marcie and Luke and the Emergency Room to check on his mother. Mary was released from the hospital with her arm in a sling and her ankle in a bandage to go home and let the swelling go down before having to see a specialist.

April 13, 2005 has been a very eventful day in the Cherry family to say the least and I know Marcie and Wally would want me to thank everyone for all of your prayers on their behalf. Marcie should be home in a couple of days and she will be able to fill you in on all the details I've missed.

Logan and Luke's Nana

Hello~
Thanks for stopping by! No, no baby brother for Logan yet, but he did get to have an awesome Spiderman birthday party today, and he really raked it in! I can't believe that my baby boy turns 5 on Monday! Time sure has flown! He had a great time today playing with his friends, and he got so many cool presents!
I think the present that surprised us all the most was certainly the hamster, newly named "Special Friend". I'm not sure what to think about it, because after all, it IS a rodent, but I guess it will kinda grow on us and it will help teach responsiblity! He has a really cool "house", but he only wants to stay hidden in the tunnel. Maybe all of the people today freaked him out.
Well I just wanted to give one quick birthday update, and let you all know that he had a great time, and thank you for all of the birthday wishes that you sent his way! Hope you have a great weekend!

Happy Spring!
Many of you already know this, but Caringbridge has asked that we remove all links to other kids' pages. Although I certainly didn't want to do this, and I feel like it is very important to be able to communicate with other families, I had no choice but to oblige.
Not a whole lot is going on around here, which is something we have learned to enjoy. I'm sure in a few weeks we will have plenty going on with the new baby's arrival. I only have a few more weeks to go, and we are all very anxious to meet Logan's little brother. We know he will be the best big brother ever!
Logan is gearing up for a big Easter Egg hunt, and then his 5th birthday is right around the corner! I can't believe that my baby boy is almost 5 years old! He is wise beyond his years, and has made his way through more than many adults I know. Needless to say, we are very proud of him, and can't wait to see what the future hold for him! He is super excited about having a Spiderman birthday party, and has asked if his new baby brother will be here in time for it. All I can tell him is "I sure do hope so"!
You may have noticed that journaling has become less frequent, and for that I apologize. This may be it for a few weeks, and when the baby is born, I'll update you all with the latest news. Of course if something happens in the mean time, I will certainly keep you posted. Thank you all for all of your support, and thanks for checking in!

Monday, March 7, 2005 6:11 PM CST

Happy Monday!
Hope this finds you all doing well. We are all doing great, and enjoying this beautiful Texas weather. If only it would stay like this year round!
Not a whole lot has happened since we last updated, but to keep everyone on their toes, we'll sure tell you what we know! (You're welcome...)
We had some sad times a couple of weeks ago when we lost Logan's "Uncle Freddie". He fought a hard fight with melanoma, and we now know that he is enjoying life in Heaven with all of those who have gone before us. We know how hard it must be for is wife, kids, and grandkids. Please remember them in your prayers.
Mom and Dad are still doing well. We are having so much fun with Logan, and he continues to make us laugh every day. Isn't that what life is all about? As my due date gets closer, I sure need that laughter quite a bit these days!
Logan's friend Weston is having a birthday this weekend, so stop by his page and wish him a Happy Birthday if you can!
Well, I can't seem to come up with much more news, so I guess that will do it for now. Thanks for stopping by, and remember to sign the guestbook so that we will know that you were here!

YIPPEE!!!
WE HAVE CLEAR SCANS!!!
Everything went very well at clinic today. The best news is that Logan's scans came back perfectly clear, and he was such a big boy during the whole thing! We are so proud of him and the way that he acted during his testing. After a short time (under 2 hours thank you very much) in Radiology, we headed up to Oncology. (Those of you who frequent the Radiology dept at Children's know that getting out of there in under 3 hours is a miracle in itself!)

Once we got to Oncology and started filling out the mountains of paperwork for that department, imagine our surprise to look up and see Weston and his mom, Sherrie! Weston was feeling a little under the weather, and Sherrie had nothing better to do than spend the day at Children's! HA HA!

We got called to go to a patient room, and while we were waiting, we kept hearing something going on out in the main waiting room of the Hem/Onc clinic. I opened the door to see what was going on, and they had a "real live magician"! Logan got to stand at the door and watch (and even participate) in the magic show, while mom and dad talked to the Nurse Practitioner and Dr. Tomlinson. It seemed to be a very fair trade for all involved. Dr. Tomlinson said that all of Logan's X-rays and scans looked great, along with his urinalysis and lab work. She eased my fears about relapse by telling us that many times you can almost forsee a relapse by keeping an eye on the lab work. We were thrilled to hear that once again Logan's lab counts were right where they ought to be, and right there with that of a "non-cancer" patient. I must admit I hate the feeling we get in the weeks leading up to scans, but I thrive on the feeling of knowing that he is a perfectly healthy child.

Thank you to all of you who have continued to pray for Logan's health, we certainly know how powerful prayer is. We couldn't have made it this far without all of you!

On a side note, please keep Logan's grandmother (Wally's mom) in your prayers. Not to go into too much detail, but she has been hospitalized this week, and is feeling a little under the weather. She is feeling better than she has been, and we are hoping that she gets to go home this weekend.

Hope all of you had a wonderful Valentine's Day! Have a great week, and thanks again for checking in!

WOW!
What a year it has been! We simply cannot believe that a year ago today, our lives would be forever changed. Who would have ever imagined that our sweet baby boy would be diagnosed with cancer. We as a family have learned so much and been blessed more than anybody could ever imagine. Wally and I could have never imagined the amazing people that we have known for years, as well as the folks that God would put into our lives because of this horrible disease.

Dr. Alison Simpson and the staff of Granbury Pediatrics - of course I will list you first because of your amazing intelligence and quick thinking, our son is still with us today. We have heard so many stories of people who were sent on their way because nobody stopped long enough to realize that something might be wrong. You will always be a special part of our family, and we will be forever grateful that God has put you in our lives.

Lakeshore ENT, and Brazos Metal Bldg. - without the support of our employers, Wally and I would have never made it this far. Not a word was ever mentioned when we needed to be with Logan for hospitalization, chemo, radiation, or scans. You have made it easy for us as parents to be devoted to what is important in our lives, our children.

Marni, Sherrie, and Monique - girls, I LOVE YOU! Although my heart breaks for the tie that binds us all, I am so glad that I have such wonderful friends to go through this journey with me. You and your children will always be a part of our family, and you three will always have a special place in my heart.

To the City of Granbury - I simply can’t say thank you enough. Who would have ever imagined that such a small community could rally around a small family such as ours, and make us feel so loved. The Granbury Police Department and the Granbury Fire Department has become a part of our extended family. Logan asks often when you guys are going to come over and play with him on his fort!

Of course our families - where do we begin? Because of your never ending support, we felt as though we were carried throughout this entire ordeal. We know that God has blessed us with such incredible families so that we would begin to understand the amazing power of His love.

We can’t begin to thank all of you that have supported us this past year, and there have been thousands of you. From those of you who anonymously check in on Logan’s webpage and never sign in, to those of you who continue to call on a weekly basis to check in on us, we could have never have made it through this without you. What an amazing God we serve, who has placed such incredible people in our lives, knowing that one day we would need them. We have felt such peace and comfort throughout this year, and we know that it comes only form Christ.

Our journey isn’t over, and we know it will never be. Not a day will ever go by that we will not consider the fact that such a horrible beast is out there threatening the lives of our precious children. We will fully rely on the fact that we have an awesome God who will protect us until the ends of the earth, and as a great friend of our once pointed out, “If He brings us to it, He will bring us through it...”. We continuously pray that Logan will never have to face this horrible beast again, and ask that you continue to pray for him as well. We are also asking Him to watch over all of His other precious children who are dealing with childhood cancer. This kids have been through more than most adults I know, and still continue to manage to bring a smile to not only their faces, but to ours as well. Maybe that’s a key to life, keep smilin’.

Logan will go back for routine scans next Wednesday, the 16th. Please keep him in your prayers, and while you’re here, please sign his guest book so that he will know that you care. Your support has made such an impact on us, and we appreciate all that you have said and done to help us along the way.

We love you all, and we’re so thankful to have you in our lives.
Wally, Marcie, and Logan

Once again, I went longer than I had intended to between journal postings. I can always tell when it's been to long when a week or two goes by without anybody signing the guestbook! I promise I will try and do better about getting in here and posting.
In the Caringbridge world, no news is usually good news. There really hasn't been a whole lot going on in our house, and we really like it that way. Logan is growing up and "maturing?" more and more every day. At least once a week I look at him, and think, WOW, he's really not a baby anymore! He comes up with some of the most hillarious things, and who knows where they come from. I simply can't believe that almost a year ago, that sweet boy was diagnosed with cancer. He has inspired us in so many ways, and we have learned so much from him.
Wally and I really do believe that Logan will be an amazing big brother, and so far he is really looking forward to it. We went to "Babies R Us" yesterday, and Logan had to test all of the rocking chairs, and helped pick out alot of the things we needed. All day he was saying "I used to use that stuff, before I was a grown up." He truly believes that he is a grown up, and in many ways, he is. We are so excited to see what God shows us with these two kids. We have been so blessed.
We all have so much to do before we start another week, and Wally and I are going to try to talk Logan into cleaning his room today, keep your fingers crossed! Hope all of you have a great week!

Thursday, January 13, 2005 7:56 PM CST

Hello!
Hope all of you are doing well. We are all doing well, and staying incredibly busy. It seems like time just flies these days! Logan continues to do well, and it is so hard to believe that it has almost been a whole year since he was diagnosed with cancer. Little did we know then how much our lives would be forever changed.
The good news is that Logan's Aunt Mel is coming to visit! We are so excited, and not quite sure we can contain ourselves until she gets here! When we told Logan he got pretty wound up thinking he was going to get to play on Uncle Bryan's baseball team while they are here. (Uncle B is a college baseball coach, and Logan thinks he's going to play for him one day.) It has been almost 2 years since we have seen them, and we can hardly wait! We might have to see if we can hide my neice and nephew in a closet somewhere and keep them here forever!!!
Well, I think it's almost dinnertime here, so I better run, thanks for stopping by!

Tuesday, January 4, 2005 6:58 AM CST

With a very heavy heart and many tears, I wanted to let you all know that Heaven received a wondeful angel this morning. Griffin Yarbrough earned his well deserved wings after a very long fight with Neuroblastoma. Thank you all for your prayers on behalf of he and his family. Griffy - we're all going to miss you baby!

Friday, December 31, 2004 9:04 PM CST

***Please be in prayer for Griffin and his family, now more than ever. Griffin is at on the brim of earning his well deserved angel wings. This has been a long, hard fight for him, and he is still fighting like the tough "kid cop" that he is. Please storm heaven for him and his entire family during this heartbreaking time.***

We hope all of you are enjoying this New Years Eve with the ones that you love. To say that this has been a wild year would be the understatement of the century. Wally and I have decided that we are just plum ready for this year to be over. More importantly, we are very anxious to see what God shows us in 2005. We trust that Logan will remain in remission, and that this nasty cancer beast will lose once again. We are all looking forward to Logan's little brother, Carson "Luke" Cherry making his grand appearance in late April, and to see what a fantastic big brother Logan will make. He has made us so proud in everything else that he has done, so we know he will make an awesome brother. Luke will be so proud and lucky to have a big brother like Logan.

This time last year we would have never imagined the nightmare that would face our family in the upcoming months. To say that it has all been bad would simply not be true. God has certainly blessed us in so many ways, and we are so fortunate. Were it not for this cancer, we would have never had the opportunity to meet Peyton, Weston, and Griffin and their wonderful families. These three families have come to mean the world to us, and without their love and support, we would have never made it through this with all of our hair. (No pun intended...) Marni, Sherrie, and Monique, you girls are the best, and I love each of you dearly. Logan has made such wonderful friends with your kids, and now we understand why.

Although we would never in a million years wish cancer on anyone of any age, we are so thankful that we have had the learning and growing experience. We have learned what is truly important in life, and we appreciate the little things more than ever. We are so thankful that we have Logan to drive us nuts, distroy the newly clean house, and to eat all of the pop-tarts. There is no better sound to our ears than to hear his precious laugh, or his Texan accent. He is a little (OK, a lot) spoiled, and we wouldnt want it any other way. God has given us a second chance with our family, and we treasure every moment.

So, as 2004 draws to an end, say a quick prayer, and Thank Him for allowing us all one more year together. We all have so many things to be thankful for. We are certainly thankful for all of you. Thank you for all of your support over the last 10 months, and we look forward to enjoying your friendship over the years to come.

Happy New Year!!!
Wally, Marcie, and Logan

I don't want to say too much until it's posted on his website, but please remember Griffin and his family in your prayers. He ended up being admitted this morning at his families request, and things aren't looking great right now. I spoke to Monique a little while ago, and he is awake and talking to his friend Courtney. He is in a substantial amount of pain, and the next few days could be pretty rough for all of them. Please visit his website (listed above) and let them know that you are remembering them in your prayers.

Merry Christmas!
We hope that you all have a wonderful Christmas tomorrow, and we also want to take a moment to reflect on this past year. Although we have seen our share of rocky points, this has certainly been a wonderful year, and we have so much to be thankful for. God has certainly blessed us with such wonderful families, without whose support and love, we would have had a much harder time. We have been doubly blessed by having been given such a happy, healthy son, who loves life with all that he has. Logan has taught us what is truly important in life, and sometimes we all have a tendency to forget that. I for one am so fortunate to have such a wonderful husband and friend, who has stood beside me and guided me through so many things in the past few years. Wally, I love you and you are and will forever be my very best friend. You are an amazing father, and I can't wait to see what the future holds for our family and our children. Thank you for giving me the best gift in the world, our children.
Marni, Sherrie, and Monique - you girls are such Godsends! Where in the world would I be without having friends like you who truly understand what it is that we are going through? You three are my rock, and I am so thankful to have you and your children in our lives. God certainly picked a unique group of women to be friends, and I am so glad that He did.. We may be crazy, but we're crazy together!!
Well, it looks like Santa is getting closer, and we better get to bed. We love you all, and thank you for checking in, and offering your support!

Merry Christmas~!

Hello!
Hope things are well with all of you. We are doing fantastic, and getting ready for the holidays! I think we are most looking forward to spending some quality time with family, and of course there will be Phase 10 played I'm sure.
Logan wrote his letter (Ok, he dictated, mom wrote...) and I must admit that is just pretty cute. I wont go into details but I will tell you that Logan promises Oatmeal cookies and milk from Wal-Mart for Santa, and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the reindeer. Some of the things that these kids come up with!!!
I hope to write more in a few days, have a good week!

Thank you so much for all of your faithful prayers for our good buddy Griffin. Please keep them coming. I think for the most part his pain has been under control with the help of Morphene. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers...

Logan is doing fantastic. I am THRILLED to say that last night was the second night in a row that he has slept in his big boy bed in his room. To most of you that is probably no big deal, but around here, that is press conference material! We are so proud of that wonderful big boy that he has become, and we know that he will be a phenominal big brother in a few months.

We still have yet to finish our Christmas shopping, and quite honestly are in no great hurry to do so. We are enjoying our time as a family, and dreading getting out in to that horrific shoping scene. I'm sure many of you know what I'm talking about. Once again, I am promising myself that next year will be different.

Not a whole lot going on around our neck of the woods. Hope all is well with all of you. Thanks for checking in, and don't forget to sign the guestbook while you're here!

PLEASE PRAY FOR GRIFFIN! HIS LEG PAIN HAS RETURNED, AND HE WAS ADMITTED TO CHILDREN'S YESTERDAY EVENING. VISIT HIS WEBISTE (SHOWN BELOW) AND LET HIS FAMILY KNOW THAT YOU ARE PRAYING FOR THEM.

We hope all of you have had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. Ours has been great, and we have had so many things to be thankful for. God has truly blessed us with such wonderful friends and family, and our lives are changed forever because of this past year.
We had Wally's family over for lunch on Thursday, and I don't think we have stopped eating since. It will be so hard to get back out of bed in the morning and go back to work! Logan had a great weekend, and got to spend some time with his "Big Boy Cousins", Arron, and Eric. I'll try and post some pics in the photo album.
Christmas is just around the corner, and I'd say we are a little over half way through with our shopping. Maybe just maybe we'll finish before Chirstmas Eve this year!

Looks like our lights are getting put up today, so Logan and I better go supervise the job!

Have a great week!

Well, after a LOOOOOOONNNGGGGG day at clinic yesterday, Logan's scans came back clear!!! Thank you all for you prayers on our behalf. Logan was such a big tough guy, and did fantastic. We should hear back about the chest x-ray in the next couple if days, but Dr. Tomlinson was pretty confident that all would be clear.

We got to see Marni, Peyton's mom, and finally got to meet "Peytons Courtney". She is a beautiful 19 year old who is going through chemo at Children's. Peyton thinks the world of her, and now we can certainly see why.

Other than that, not a whole lot going on. We are gearing up for Thanksgiving, and can't wait to see family and reflect on all that we have to be thankful for.

Hope all of you have a safe and happy holiday! Eat extra turkey for us!

Wally, Marcie, Logan

"Lord, give me faith to believe your promises and give me perseverance and hope to withstand trials and adversities. Help me to trust in your unfailing love and to find joy and contentment in you alone."

Well, I'm not sure about where you live, but I think we have had record rain here! It has rained almost non-stop since yesterday morning! Luckily we got to finish Logan's very last soccer game of the season, and they did very well. He is going to miss his soccer friends, and they will get to play together again at their soccer party at CiCi's Pizza Tuesday night. He has had a very good team, and all of they boys were extremely good kids. We were lucky to have such a good experience at our first go-round with organized sports.

Logan is doing great, and Wednesday has his first set of follow up scans since the completion of chemotherapy in August. Of course we are a little apprehensive about it, but we know that God has everything under control, and He has taken very good care of us thus far. Once again, we will turn everything over to Him, and remain faithful that everything will be fine. We appreciate all of your prayers for Logan on Wed. because he has gotten out of the routine of going to the hospital. Please pray that he will be able to complete the required tests, and that we will all feel peace during that ever so stressful time.

We hope that all continues to be well with all of you. Thanks for stopping by, and please sign the guestbook while you're here! If we don't get around to updating before Thanksgiving, please remember all of those who have lost their children this year, and remember how much we all have to be thankful for! We are certainly thankful for all of you!

"Lord, give me faith to believe your promises and give me perseverance and hope to withstand trials and adversities. Help me to trust in your unfailing love and to find joy and contentment in you alone."

I have to admit that this has been a rough night. The Caringbridge community lost beautiful Cheyenne a couple of days ago, and lost Connor today. To top it off, my junior high basketball coach lost her 17 year old son today as well. I am having a hard time understanding the reasoning. After talking to a very good friend tonight (you know who you are) I came to the realization that I don't have to understand, that I don't have to understand things, that basically I just need to sit down, shut up, and hold on.

We have learned so much this past year, and we absolutely have so very much to be thankful for. We have a happy, healthy (although very spoiled) perfect little boy. I have the wonderful opportunity to tuck him in to bed and kiss him goodnight, at least one more night. We have so much more than many parents tonight. I can't begin to understand how these parents who have lost their children are feeling, and I am so greatful that at least for today, I won't know that feeling.

Not only are we content in what He has given us, we are living the perfect life. Wally and I have the best lives anybody could ever ask for, and we have nothing to complain about. God has given us so very much to be thankful for, and we are beyond blessed.

I have said it before, but after this week, I feel like it should be said again. If you have your children, please take 5 extra minutes and tell them that you love them. Then get on your knees and praise God and thank Him for giving you another day with them. While you are in prayer, please remember the parents who have lost their children to this horrible beast, and pray for their peace and comfort.

Thank you all for your continued support. It has without a doubt been because of your faithful prayer that we have all made it this far. We love you all, and thank you for being a part of our lives.

We love you
Wally, Marcie, and Logan

I hate to damper the post vacation spirit, but with a very heavy heart, we are sad to tell you that our friend Cheyenne (link below) won her battle with cancer this morning, and went to be with Jesus. Cheyenne will remain a very big inspiration to all of us. She left this earth a fighter and we could all learn so much from her strength. Please visit her site, and let her family know that you are praying for them.

M-I-C-K-E-Y-M-O-U-S-E
We had a great time, and of course had a really hard time leaving! It was certainly a once in a lifetime opportunity, and one that we will never forget.
We left our house on Friday afternoon, and headed off to Dallas to our lavish hotel room, provided generously by Make A Wish because of our early Saturday morning flight. We were all in bed by about 9pm, and because of sheer excitement, mom was up by 11:30pm, unable to go back to sleep! It took all I had to keep from waking dad and Logan up to convince them to go ahead and go to the airport! I contained myself until about 4:ooam, and then we were off to the airport parking area by 5am.
We made our way through all of the security and jazz, and found our way to the DFW airport McDonalds. We ate a small breakfast, then made our way back to hurry up and wait for our boarding call, which was still about an hour away. After about 10 minutes of sitting there, Wally and I notice a clown (literally, big red shoes, red nose...) going through the security check. As this unrolls, he walks over to where we are sitting, and says quite loudly, "DOES ANYBODY HERE KNOW A LITTLE GUY NAMED LOGAN? HE'S "THIS" TALL, AND REALLY CUTE?" Meanwhile, he is standing right in front of Logan, waiting for Logan to say something. Logan is sitting in my lap, and leans over and whispers to me "I'm a little shy mom"? The clown puts his bag of tricks down, and tells Logan he will be right back, he has to go to the ticket counter. At this point, I'm thinking, "is he flying with us?" Then he walks back, and hands us first class tickets. I am in total shock, and all I can say is "Thank You, Thank You"! Then the clown convinces Logan to get down and play with him. (It wasnt very hard). About 5 minutes into his gig, Logan is laughing so hard, and cant contain himself. All 150 people waiting for our flight were turned around watching all of this, and while I'm filming all of this, I can't quit crying. What a great start!
The flight was pretty uneventful, and Logan slept most of the way. The whole first class thing was pretty neat, and Wally says the food was great! Orlando airport was huge, and our friend Peyton's mom is right, security and staff are both horrible there! We got our baggage and found our greeter just fine, then we went to get our rental car. About an hour after landing, we were on our way to the Give Kids The World Village. The only word I can say about that place is amazing. I cant begin to explain the feeling you get while there. We all felt like we had no care in the world. I guess ice cream 24 hours a day would give anyone that euphoric feeling.
The first day in Florida, we didnt do a whole lot, just hung around the village for most of the afternoon. We had plans to meet up with Angel Angela, but sadly we were not able to meet up with her. cry, sniffle, tears... We ended up getting back to the Village at about 11 that night, and we were already tired.
On Sunday, we met up with some cousins, and went to a couple of themed play areas, and ate at a really cool restaurants. Logan and dad and our cousins got to drive go-carts, and I think Logan would have been content staying the rest of the week there! Little did he know!
Monday was a wonderful day. We went to Disney's Magic Kingdom. Talk about royal treatment, we got it! Logan went to the front of every line, and rode several rides consecutively! He got to meet the famous Mickey and friends, and many, many, many others! I have 300 pictures if anybody wants a disc, let me know.
On Tuesday, we went to Universal Studios! Logan had a great time, and we did too. We rode several rides that almost made us ill, but after all, this is Florida, you get over it, and play some more! We got to see Tom Arnold, who was there taping a commercial for a wrestling match that was there at Universal that night. Logan really enjoyed meeting Jimmy Neutron, and riding his ride, Shrek was cool too, and his 4-D show was awesome! Just a word to the wise, if you go there, dont attempt the Back to the Future ride. Woo! Tough one! All in all, it was another great day!
Wednesday, we went to Sea World. Logan got to see the dolphins, feed the stingrays, and watch the penguins. It was really fun, and the staff really catered to Logan. At the boardwalk, Logan insisted on playing the games. You know, the ones that are impossible to win! He walked away from every single one of those games with a stuffed animal. These people really opened their hearts to Logan, and he was overjoyed! I was starting to get worried about how we were going to get all of this stuff back on an airplane! We packed light, but not THAT LIGHT!!!
Thursday was going home day. We were certainly sad to leave, but ready to return to home sweet home. We had a fantastic time, and cant wait to go back!!
Thank you to all of you that made this trip possible, and for those of you who continue to pray for our family. We could not have made it this far without any of you, and for that we are sure thankful. We love you guys, and I promise I will get pictures posted soon!

Marcie

Disney is so close, we can ALMOST taste it! The countdown is on, and we are all so excited! Logan thinks he is flying the airplane, and neither Wally nor I have ever flown before, so this could really be an experience that we will never forget! I keep getting all kinds of "good advice" from people, and the more I think about it, the more nervous I become. I don't think anything could stop us from wanting to go though. It is certainly "CODE RED" around here. Not only have we not started packing yet, I dont even have all of the laundry done! There may be no rest till Disney!
We are to meet with the Wish Granters tomorrow evening, and find out all of the finer details of the trip. Talk about last minute! I am so glad to hear that we arent the only ones who wait around for the very last second!
We are leaving out on Friday because of such an early flight on Saturday. Our plane is scheduled to leave at around 6:40 am Saturday, and that would have us leaving home at around 3am. Basically not gonna happen! Like there will be a whole lot of sleeping going on anyway, but why not start vacation a day early anyway!
If any of you have any insider hints to Disney, please let us know. I know that our good friend Peyton was going to have a special one on one lunch with Sleeping Beauty, and we would love to do something like that for Logan. We'd like to know neat restaurants too if anybody knows of any.
Well, I guess we had better get things started around here. Thanks for checking in on Logan. We will sure give a detailed report when we get back. If we dont decide to stay forever that is...

Hugs!
Marcie

There is a beautiful little girl in Montana who is fighting for her life. Please take a few minutes and lift her and her family up in prayer. www.caringbridge.org/mt/ellieanna
This is a fellow Wilms' fighter, and she is having a tough time, and I know her family sure would appreciate a word of encouragement and to know that you are praying for them.

To those of you who have already checked in on this family, you will never know how much that means to us. Wally and I are so very fortunate to have friends and family such as you all. We know the power of prayer, and we appreciate you taking them in, and supporting them the way that others have supported us.

We leave for Disney in 14 days, and WE CAN'T WAIT!!! We FINALLY get to see Angel Angela, and even some cousins! We have so much to do around here, and maybe, just maybe we'll get it all done in time!

Logan's Nana and Chief have gone to Utah to see Aunt Mel, Uncle Bryan, Maddux, and Kaleigh. Please say an EARLY HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Logan's Aunt Mel. She will finally reach the BIG 40!!! (I love you Mel!!!) :) :) :) :) :)

It looks like it might start raining agan any minute now, and it is thundering prety loudly. I guess I better get the boys inside and see about doing something for dinner. Hope all of you are doing well! Thanks for checking in!

Marcie

P.S. OK, so she's not REALLY 40...yet.

Monday, October 4, 2004 5:55 PM CDT

We feel like we should board the ark any day now. Gotta love all this rain!

All is well here, and we are getting really excited about Logan's upcoming Make-A-Wish trip. We leave in a couple of weeks, and we can't wait!

On a sad note, please say a quick prayer for a friend of ours. Our friends the Green's lost their beautiful teenage daughter to Leukemia last night. I can't imagine the pain that these parents are going through. Please ask for special blessings be sent to Darla and Curt, and their son Jon.

We have learned of a new special friend, and fellow cancer fighter, Ty. Please go by and visit his website, and let his family know that you are praying for them too!
Ty's Website

Peyton got her port removed last week, and continues to soar! That girl has got some serious spunk! She even got to ride on her town's firetruck for the homecoming parade! I see a future cheerleader!

Weston is doing great too! We had such a great time with him and his family at Build A Bear! I love that kid! If we all had that persistance in everything that we did, this world would be a much better place.

Griffin is possibly about to change chemo types. That courageous little dude has been going to school every day while getting chemo when he gets home. I think that they are adjusting well to Texas, and hopefully they realize that regardless, they are stuck with us, because we're not letting them go!

Well, I guess I had better go get Logan into bath mode. He still has paint in his hair from this weekend. DON'T ASK... Hope all of you are doing well. Thanks for stopping by!

Hello!
Sorry for the delay in updating, I really have no excuse. So, here is what's going on in "our neck of the woods'!

Both Wally and Logan have been sick, Wally for over a week, and Logan just the last couple of days. I took him to his pediatrician yesterday, and it's viral of course, so we just treat the symptoms. He is unfortunately having to miss beloved soccer practice tonight, much to his dismay. I guess it's just not much of a consolation prize to a four year old that both Survivor AND ER are on tonight.

We are going to go (relying on the fact that Logan is better by then) to Build A Bear on Saturday. If that weren't enough, Griffin, Weston, and Peyton and their families are going to be there too! We are SOOOOO excited about getting to get together with all of them ,we don't know if we can wait!

Hope all is well with all of you, much love!

P.S. Hey Angel Angela, A MONTH FROM TODAY!!!!!!!!

Marcie

Sunday, September 19, 2004 7:14 PM CDT

A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who came out to Logan's game last night! We had a fantastic time, and it will certainly be a night we will never forget! Logan had the best time I think he has ever had, and has been talking about it non stop all day. He is so worn out still today from all of the excitement!

As you can see I have posted new pictures in the slide show, and I will get them in the photo album soon! Hope all of you are doing well, thanks for coming by!

Thursday, September 9, 2004 7:35 PM CDT

THE PORT IS OUT!!!

We are finished! This morning's surgery was a complete success, and Logan is recovering nicely. We think the anesthesia might be wearing off a little. Up until about an hour ago, he though he was Superman, and he might be winding down.

All in all, it was a very good day, and we can't wait to see what tomorrow will bring.

Love to you all!
Marcie

Sunday, September 5, 2004 11:46 AM CDT

Please be in prayer for Logan's ChemoAngel, and our very good friend, Angel Angela, who lives in Florida.

Hope everyone is having a peaceful Labor Day Weekend, we are doing a whole lot of nothing. Nothing like cleaning house and yardwork, Logan even cleaned his room! Ok,so it took a little convincing from mom and dad, but it worked. This week is going to be a busy one, even though it will be a short one. Logan's surgery for port removal is scheduled for Thursday, and we want to be ready. Are you ever ready for your child to have surgery? This one marks the brand new beginning we have all been praying for, so I guess we are kinda looking forward to it.

Logan has his first soccer practice on Tuesday, and boy is he excited! He will probably have to miss his first game due to the surgery, but he should be good as gold after that. I guess time will tell.

The fire trucks and police cars have been going nuts this weekend, and every time Logan hears one of them, he gets super excited, and thinks they are coming to get him. He gets to be picked up by a firetruck to go to his benefit football game, and HE IS READY!!!

Well, I guess that's about all! Please sign the guestbook while you're here!

Marcie

UPDATE:
We FINALLY got ahold of the surgery department at Children's, and Logan's surgery has been scheduled. Although not next week like we were promised, I guess this will have to do. He is on the books for Thursday September 9th , to be there at 10:00am. THAT will be fun, keeping him from eating after midnight the night before. Less than two weeks from now, this journey will be officially "closed" YEA!!!

TGIF!!!
Hope everyone out there in Caringbridge land is doing well. There are a couple of Logan's friends that could use your prayers right now. Griffin is back in the hospital, and I wont go into detail, I will say that he HAS NOT relapsed. Please visit his website (link below) and let his family know that you are thinking about them. Weston has completed day 1 of his BMT, and will continue today. Please keep him and his entire family in your thoughts and prayers. You can also find Weston's link below too!

Our Make-A-Wish trip has been officially rescheduled. We are going to go to Disney October 23rd - 28th! YEA!! We are kinda bummed that we are going to miss Peyton and family by a week! They are going to be there the week before. I bet maybe we will find a way to have fun anyway.

Pictures went well last night with the Chief of Police, the Fire Chief, and Logan. He was very entertaining to say the least. I think once he warmed up, he loved those guys! HE was measured last night too, and his police uniform will be ready in time for the football game. I guess I should mention that Logan will be in official Granbury Police Department attire, and he will be sworn in as an honorary Police Officer at halftime of this football game. I can feel the tears coming now!

For those of you that live in the area, Logans football game is scheduled for the 18th of Sept., and tickets are available now. If you want tickets, feel free to contact me via e-mail (marciejen@charter.net) and I'll try and get them to you. They are $3 for adults and $1 for kids. It should be such a fun time. I have seen the partial raffle list, and I will say that there is a skydiving adventure on there. Yikes!

As much as I would love to stay on here and type away, I guess I better go to work at some point. Hope all of you are doing well, and PLEASE sign the guestbook while you're here!

Marcie

Hello!
Well, I have debated for the past couple of days about posting this, but I have decided to go ahead and do it because I wouldn't want anybody to find out any other way. There have been a couple of close calls where the news almost slipped, so here goes.

Logan is going to be a big brother!!!

Wally and I found out on Wednesday that we are going to have another baby. While this came as a complete shock, we could not be more thrilled. It is still very early in the pregnancy, and we will keep you posted as we know more. We are thinking along the lines of late April or early May for a due date. I go back to the doctor on Thursday for another sonogram. Yes, that is 2 in 2 weeks. Good thing my OB/GYN is only across the street from my office!

Big Brother Logan continues to do amazingly well. He goes for final scans on Wednesday, and we will schedule port removal at that time. We are hoping to have it scheduled for the first part of September, so that Logan will be in tip top shape for his fund-raiser football game on the 18th. We are also going to attempt to have the Make-A-Wish trip rescheduled for possibly October or November. Who knows, maybe we will luck out and get to go when Peyton goes! We are certainly at the mercy of Make-A-Wish!

Please continue to pray for all of Logan's friends. I talked to Sherrie, Weston's mom for a while this afternoon, and Weston is back in the hospital for treatment. Please pray for all of the doctors and nurses to be guided by God's mighty hand. All of these amazing kids deserve to have nothing but the best, and we are praying for complete healing for all of them.

Hope you all have a great week, and we will keep you posted of Logans results as we know them!

Let It Rain, Let It Rain, Let It Rain...
Let me tell ya, it is SO hard to get out of bed on such a rainy day! Isn't that what rain is for? It sure does make good sleeping weather!

We hope all of you are doing well. All is great here. We are gearing up for what we hope will be a fantasic soccer season. We should be hearing something in the next couple of weeks, and boy is Logan excited. He has to take down his soccer cleats every day and look at them, and he is determined to be on the "blue" team. I have no idea where that come from, but we try not to ask anymore.

The benefit football game is getting into full swing. We are all so excited about it, and it sounds like it will be a really good time. If you are in the area, we would love to see you there!

Well, we better get going. Who knows what this rain will do! Hope all of you have a great day!

TGIF!!
Hope all is well in your world! We are all doing great, and certainly looking forward to a nice weekend. Logan is feeling great, and we are so excited for some news we got today.

***WESTON'S SCANS ARE CLEAR!!!***

We are so glad to hear that our lil' guy is feeling better. We are continuing to pray for Weston and his family and we ask that you do the same.
I heard through the grapevine that Griffin is in the hospital, and we hope that if he isn't home already that he will be soon! He has a new SpongeBob room to take care of!

Thank you so much for stopping by, we appreciate all of your support!

Hello friends!
Just a quick update to let all of you know that the City of Granbury Police Department has scheduled the fundraiser football game benefitting Logan!

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 18TH, 2004 @ 7:OOPM
AT DECKER FOOTBALL FIELD
BEHIND GRANBURY HIGH SCHOOL

I met with Sgt. Richie Haught this afternoon, and I think things are going well. It is sounding pretty wondeful, and we are all so excited about it. I have given the basic info, but we all want you to know that we would love to have you come out and have a great time. There will be food and drinks for sale, and of course some good competition!

I'll update more soon!

Hugs!
Marcie

Happy Saturday!
Well, I guess it's no turning back now! Logan got his first pair of soccer cleats today, and boy is he excited! I don't know if we're going to make it to the first practice without wearing them first! He just doesn't understand that they are for soccer use only! Maybe we should have held them until it was time for them to be used. I guess we'll know better next time!

Other than our little soccer shopping spree, not a whole lot else going on. We sure do enjoy the quiet days, and they seem to come so few and far between! Thank you to all of you who are so wonderful about checking in on Logan's site. An even bigger Thank You to all of you who take the time to sign the guestbook. I know it is time consuming, but we sure do appreciate it. This will be so very special to Logan as he matures and starts to understand what he has really gone through. It means the world to us as his parents already. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

I'm not sure if we will update again before next weekend, so just in case we dont, we want to send a very special ****************CONGRATULATIONS*************************
to Logan's Uncle Charlie and (future?) Aunt Kellie. Both of them will be graduating from college next Saturday, and we all are so excited for them. So sorry that we can't be there, but we love you both, and we are so proud of you! Oh yeah, and Logan says that now that you aren't going to be in school, we really really really hope to see you soon! Can you take that hint, or do we need to be more obvious?!

Hope all of you have a great week, thanks for checking in!

Wednesday August 4, 2004
Hi! Not a whole lot going on here. I guess the big news in our house would be Logan's newest adventure. He is officially registered for soccer! I haven't seen him this excited about anything for a long time now. I think he would do ANYTHING to be able to play, and so far, bribery has worked! I'm telling you, this kid is PUMPED!!! The season doesn't officially begin until Sept. 11th or so, so it is kinda tough convincing Logan to "be patient"... Chances are if you have talked to Logan on the phone in the last few days, he has told you all about it. I have to admit that dad and I are pretty excited to see him so excited about something.
Hope all is well with all of you! Big HUGS coming your way!
~Marcie

It has been 5 months, 2 weeks, 5 days, and who knows how many hours since this journey began. Sometimes when we look back on this, it seems like life didn’t really exist until February 9th 2004. I guess in a sense, it didn’t. To say that this has been the best experience of our lives would not be entirely correct. I can, however, say that this has been the most eye-opening ordeal we have seen thus far. We had no idea what life was all about until God opened our eyes and allowed us to take a look at what life is really about. It doesn’t matter how much money we make, where we shop, or who we socialize with. The precious blue-eyed boy that has been through more than most of us could even imagine has taught us what is truly important.

Logan has been blessed with the strength that could only be sent from Christ. This child has amazed us, and the amount of pride that we have for him, no words can describe. He has not skipped a beat, and remains to be a “typical” 4 year old. I am so very grateful that he has not once realized that he was “sick.” When Wally and I stopped long enough to accept the fact that he had the monster known as cancer, we certainly didn’t imagine this. What we got was a child who didn’t want to clean his room, who worshiped SpongeBob Squarepants and Jimmy Neutron, and who every once in a while got out of serious trouble just by being so darn cute. It took only a little while to realize that we would much rather have him up and energetic tearing up his clean room, than lying in bed feeling crummy. 1 major 4-hour surgical procedure, 6 days of inpatient hospital stay,
15 chemotherapy treatments, 6 radiation treatments, 20 lab blood draws, 4 sonograms,
2 EKG/echocardiograms, 3 CT Scans, end result?? PRICELESS!

There are so many people without whom we would not have made it through this. If Wally and I ever won the lottery, we would immediately be broke again. We would give all we have to all of you who have been beside us this whole time. God has shown us His amazing mercy and grace, and we will never be the same again.

Nana and Chief, we can’t imagine this journey without you. The two of you were right beside us the whole way. Your support still amazes us. We could not have asked for better parents. Without the two of you to encourage us and tell us time after time that every thing is going to be fine, we would have gone nuts. There was never a time that we had to ask you to do anything for us, because you did without being asked. You have stood in the shadows this whole time so that Logan was of the utmost importance. Please know that to us you will both always be heroes. Mom, not only are you the best mom I could ever ask for, you are the best friend I could ever wish to have.

Bryan, Melanie, Maddux, and Kaleigh, I love you and miss you more than you will ever know. Melanie, you also are my best friend. I can’t count the times that you and I have sat on the phone laughing, the crying, then laughing again, and somehow when the conversation is over, I am smiling about life. You have made this situation tolerable. Even though you are what feels like a million miles away, you have been right here beside us the whole way. The way you have kept everybody in touch, and the way you care about all of Logan’s friends just blows me away. One of the best gifts God has ever given me was allowing me to have you as a sister. You have shown me that sometimes when life seems like it just can’t get any worse, all you can do is laugh, and remember that there are always those out there who have it worse than we do. You and I have been through some very hard times in our lives, and throughout all of it, you have been my rock. I love you so much, and I will always value your friendship. Mad Dog and Kaleigh-bug - YOU RULE!!! You have made Logan laugh so many times in the past few months, and both of you are such awesome role-models for not only Logan, but for all of the kids whose guest books you and your mom have signed. We love you both so much, and we are so proud of the great baseball seasons that both of you have had this year. We can’t wait for you and Logan to get together to play some serious baseball! GO UTES!!!

Nana and Papa, because of the love you have shown to Logan, we have been able to get back to a somewhat normal life. It took a lot of convincing, but we finally felt comfortable letting Logan out of our sights so that we could go back to work, and support our family, You were right there allowing him to be a child, yet at times treating him with the tenderness that only grandparents can do. You are a big part of the reason that Logan never realized that he was “sick” or any different than any other child..

Dr. Alison Simpson and the entire staff of Granbury Pediatrics, I can’t do this without crying. Alison, you and Christ are the only two reasons that our precious son is still alive. Without you and your God given talent, I hate to think about what could have happened. That Monday morning of February 9th, I was almost certain that Logan would either have a case of appendicitis, or simply a stomach virus. I never imagined how quickly our lives would be changed forever. All of you have been with us this whole time, and you are so much more to us than a Physician and staff. You are family, and we love you all. Logan will tell you if you ask him, that he loves his Dr. Alison, and we totally agree with him. Alison, I have a little boy who loves you and thinks the world of you, and one day he will understand just how much.

Angel Krzeminski, you have made our lives so much easier. I could never imagine the number of hours that you devoted of your own time promoting benefits and maintaining control of “The Logan Cherry Benefit Account”. I can’t begin to tell you how comforting it has been knowing that medical bills would be one less thing we have to worry about. You have stepped right in without even being asked, and done the insurance portion of this nightmare for us. I have appreciated you more than you will ever know, and you mean so much to this family. You are such a Godsend, and I love you like a sister. You somehow always know exactly what I needed to hear (regardless of if I wanted to or not), and I thank you for that. You have been such a source of strength for us.

Dr. Krzeminski, Jennifer, Christie, Amy, Susie, and Kaci, I could spend a month thanking all of you for all that you have done for us. There are very few employers that would allow a parent to take off an undetermined amount of time to be with their family. It was never even a question of IF I could take time off, it was HOW LONG. You guys are incredible. I never felt rushed to return to work, and I knew I had as much time as I needed to get my life back in order. Once I did return, I felt as if I had never been gone. The amount of love and support that I received from Lakeshore E.N.T. has never ceased to amaze me. Thank you for wrapping this terrified family in your loving arms, and allowing us to get back up on our feet in our own time. Not only are you guys the best boss and co-workers I could ever hope for, you are also my best friends.

Tony Smith and the crew of Rockin’ S Construction and Brazos Metal Building Systems, once again, your support has been priceless. You all have made it possible for us to be beside Logan during every single chemotherapy treatment. Had it not been for your never ending prayer and support, this whole journey would have been much harder. Wally never knew just how lucky he was when he accepted this job. You all have become so much more than co-workers, you have become part of this extended family we have grown to love.

Dane, Marni, Lindsay and Peyton (and family), bring on the tears. Because of you all, this has been a beautiful experience. I chose those words because they just seem to fit. That day at Children’s when Logan was screaming because he was terrified to be there, God knew exactly what we needed, and there you were. Marni, it may seem like no extraordinary ordeal, but you have no idea how you and Dane have changed our lives. Your words of strength and courage have been such an inspiration. It allowed us to realize that life does indeed go on. You put your shoulders back, raise your chin, and let God be God. That would have to be one of the hardest lessons that we have learned throughout this. Peyton, you have helped Logan see that this whole chemo thing isn’t quite so bad after all. It was so good to talk to somebody who knew exactly what we were going through, and oddly enough knew it was OK to laugh sometimes. We thank God for all of you every day.

Sherrie and Weston, once again, you always knew exactly what to say and when to say it. You helped us see that there are going to be mountains that we have to climb and that we will overcome. Your strength and determination and positive outlook has forever changed our outlook on life. We are so very thankful to have you in our lives.

Angel Angela, you are more than a ChemoAngel , you are an angel on Earth. I have told you several times, but it deserves to be said again. You have brought so much joy to Logan’s life, and we could never repay you for all of you have done for us. It always seemed to work out that whenever Logan was having a crummy day, he would come home to a package on the doorstep. You are certainly a hero in his eyes, and you will forever be a major part of our lives. We love you very much, and we are honored to have you as family. We can’t wait to see you in Florida! Let the good times roll!

City of Granbury, your generosity amazes us. We have enjoyed living in this fine community for several years, and after all of this, we could never imagine living anywhere else. This town has allowed us to realize that there are still good people out there, and we think they must live in Granbury. We have received hundreds of cards and well wishes from people in the area, and your love, prayers, and support has guided us every step of the way. We are and will forever be proud to be from Granbury.

As we bring this chapter of our lives to a close, we want to thank each and every one of you who has ever said a prayer for us, brought a meal to our house, signed Logan’s guest book, or called to see how Logan is doing. Is just can’t be said enough how much we appreciate all of you and all that you have done for us. We could not have made it down this road without any of you. You have made it possible for us to “Swing For The Fences, and we love you all.

In Him-
Wally, Marcie, and Logan Cherry

Ok Ok already!
Here is your update! Everything is exactly the same as it was last week. THE END...

Just kidding! I have actually been meaning to check in, but I have been trying to wait until Wednesday when we are through with chemo. So, here is a little pre-update. Logan continues to grow hair, and we are actually having to use shampoo on a daily basis now. Aahhh, the little things. Logan got to go to a neighbor's birthday party and play with the new fort she got. Now he thinks he just HAS GOT TO HAVE ONE, and keeps telling us that a new fort, kinda like a Dr. Pepper, always makes him feel better. Too bad cleaning his room or picking up his toys doesn't have the same effect. Maybe one day!

It looks like Weston is probably going to get to go home tomorrow, and you can only imagine how understandably excited they are. I think Sherrie is going to have a hard time remembering how to get home. God is sure doing some amazing things in her life, and the lives of those that love her. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Princess Peyton has finished with chemo, and "GAME ON"! I think she is having a ball, just biting at the bit to get these boys together to have a party! Can you imagine? One Peyton + Logan + Weston + Griffin! That equals BIG COMPETITION! Luckily they are all still young enough to just have a ball! I can only imagine what the future holds for those four!

If you haven't checked in lately, go by and visit Griffin. His mom Monique FINALLY updated!!! We are NOT going to give her a hard time though, because she is after all, new to Texas, and we are going to be patient. Griffin is at camp in California, and i think he is being missed very much!

Please go by and check on Haley. Haley had a very unexpected brain surgery this afternoon, and she sure could use your prayers. Please let this family know that they can count on you to pray for them.

Well, it looks like Wednesday's entry could be a long one, so I'm gonna make this short. Hope all is well with all of you, please sign the guestbook while you are here!

Hugs~~
Marcie

Hello!
We hope all of you have had a wonderful weekend. We are getting back from a great mini-vacation in Fredericksburg. It was family reunion time, and as always, it was so good to see so many. We had a good time, and it was so nice to get away for a while. Logan had a great time playing with all of his cousins, and he even got to spend some time in the pool. He sure did enjoy himself.

A pretty cool thing happened to us this weekend, and we didn't even realize it until we got home and finished unpacking. Every year, we do a "Chinese Gift Exchange". This year there were 100 numbers to choose from, and as luck would have it, I of course drew number 97. To make a long story short, I drew a little "coffee table" type book written by Dr. James Dobson, who is an amazing Christian author. I had glanced through it briefly, but had not had a chance to really read it until I got home this afternoon. I think once you read this, you'll understand.

"There are purposes that you cannot perceive or comprehend. You may never understand - At least not in this life - but you must never let go of you faith".
"NOW FAITH IS BEING SURE OF WHAT WE HOPE FOR AND CERTAIN OF WHAT WE DO NOT SEE. - HEBREWS 11:1"

"I may lack the words to describe what occurs to the faithful in times of personal crisis. Let is be said, simply, that there is often a quiet awareness in the midst of chaos that the Lord is there and He is still in control."

Does that sum it up, or what? This describes to the letter what has kept us going for almost 6 months. I know that Marni and Sherrie will understand how that hits home.

Hoep you all have a great week!
Marcie

Happy Monday Everybody!

Well, we have good news, and some not so good news. Let's do the not so good news first. Weston did get to go home last Thursday, and we are so very excited about that. After three weeks of isolation, that boy needed to do some running! Unfortunately, when he got home, he developed an infection in his line, and so back to Children's he went. YUCK!!! Please pray for him to get healed very quickly so that he can get back home where he (and his family) can get some much needed rest. Please visit Weston's website and let him and his family know that you are praying for them.

Now for the good..No, GREAT news! Princess Peyton will finish chemo this week! HIP HIP HOORAY!!! She is currently visiting Children's fantastic 10th floor luxury suites (the Oncology floor), and will receive her final chemo treatment while she is there! Peyton and her family have been very instrumental in our lives these past few months. God sure has been good to us by putting so many wonderful people inour lives. Go ahead and visit Peyton's website, and tell her how very proud of her you are.

As I mentioned in my previous journal entry, we got the pleasure of meeting Griffin, his brother, and mom, Monique. These are great folks, and I would sure appreciate it if you would visit his website, and Welcome them to Texas. Be sure and give Monique (Griffin's mom) a hard time about not updating! I'm sure with a new house to unpack, she has nothing better to do!

Logan's cousins from Utah have had an excellent season in baseball and softball. Maddux and Kaleigh - we are so proud of you, and we think you both did an outstanding job. Logan can't wait to play ball with you both, and let you give him some pointers! We love you guys!

Oh yeah, if anybody is considering playing in Logan's golf tournament, please be sure and register by Friday. There is some talk of cancelling if more entries aren't received this week.

Hope all of you are having a great week so far! Thanks for visitng Logan's site, and please sign the guestbook while you are here, then go visit Logan's friends.

Hugs!
Marcie

Happy Saturday-

I'm sure the neighbors are loving us right about now. It isn't even 8:30am, and Logan is outside having the time of his life with Murphy. Let's just say that when he gets excited, he gets loud. I guess he's pretty excited this morning.

The first thing he wanted this morning when he woke up was to go outside and play with Murphy. I think he is feeling pretty needy of his dog the last couple of days. He has been pretty upset, afraid that something will happen to Murphy. My parents had to put our dog of 14 years to sleep on Thursday, and Logan was taking it pretty hard. Even though he only saw her when he went to visit Nana and Chief, he still loved her, as we all did. He was very persistant saying that we needed to go get an airplane and fly up to the say and get Morgan (the dog) FAST. He kept saying "Now that Jesus has made Morgan all better, can she come home now?" His sweet generousity brought me to tears several times. Soemtimes kids understand more than we think they do.

Logan's golf tournament is approaching rather quickly. If you are planning on coming out and joining, please get your registration on as soon as you can. Turn out so far hasn't been quite what they thought it would be, and there is talk of cancelling it if numbers don't pick up. So, we'd love to have you come out and play golf with Logan, and we'll hear from you soon!

Logan's (ok, she belongs to all of us...) Angel Angela e-mailed me and told us that the July 7th issue of People Magazine has an article about the ChemoAngel organization. We are going to go out this morning at get one, and if you have a chance while you are waiting in line at Wal-Mart, pick one up and read the article. I know there is no way that any other Chemo Angel could ever come close to our Angel Angela, but the organization has to be a good one if she belongs to it.

Please continue to keep all of Logan's friends in your prayers. We are going to get to see Uncle Freddie next weekend, and boy are we excited. Check out all of these guys' websites to keep yourself updated on their conditions. God is sure doing some amazing work in these kids lives.

Peyton, I promise I haven't forgotten you. I promise I will get your birthday present in the mail this week. i have been meaning to do it for over a week now, and never seem to make it to the post office. Know that we all love you, and you have something heading your way.

To all of the Harrison family, be safe on your way to Fredericksburg next weekend, and we can't wait to see all of you.

Leslie and Brandon - we love you both, and many many congrats to you. You are a beautiful couple and deserve the best this ole' world has to offer. Congrats!!!

Thursday, July 8, 2004 6:28 AM CDT

Well,
It was a long day, but a good day. We spent almost 10 hours at clinic yesterday, and we got some good news. All of Logan's preliminary reports came back clear!!! The chest x-ray, echocardiogram, and ultrasound seemed to look good according to the techs. Dr. Tomlinson said that she would call with a report, and I didn't hear from her, so I feel very good about it. Thank You Jesus!!!
We got to briefly see Weston's mom Sherrie, and WESTON GETS TO GO HOME TODAY!!! This has been a long, and tiring three weeks, and I know she is very ready to get that baby home.
We also got to meet and spend some time with Griffin and his family. Griffin and his brother Blake were so very sweet to Logan, and Griffin gave Logan some helpful hints on getting his port acessed. Monique is a wonderful person too, and I think that we all are going to get together soon. How lucky are we to meet such wonderful people? I can't wait to get the 4 amigo's together. Peyton, Weston, Griffin, and Logan are going to have a ball together!
We got home today, and Logan had a surprise waiting for him on the front porch. Angel Angela had sent a really cool goodie box! He got all kinds of water paints, bath paints, an Incredible Hulk silly putty, and a marker bag. How cool is that? We have such an awesome angel...
I guess I better go to work at some point today, hope all of you have a great day!

Hugs!
Marcie

Hope all of you had a great 4th of July weekend. We had a nice family weekend, and we are slowly winding down from all of the festivities.
July, August, and September are looking to be very eventful months on our house, so we sure do enjoy the quiet time when we get it.
Logan's appetite hasn't picked up tremendously, although he did eat quite a bit at lunch on Saturday. If only his world could revolve around chips and salsa... We are prepared to discuss appetite stimulants on Wednesday when we go to clinic. Keep your fingers crossed that we dont have to go that direction, he has done so very well so far...
Well, I hear laundry calling, better go see if it has done itself. Hope all of you have a great week!

Hi-
Just thought I'd give a quick update on Logan. He hasn't been eating well for about 2 weeks, and I finally decided to call Alison. We have literally fought him all week about his eating, and he wouldn't give in. We tried punishing, bribing, begging, and nothing worked. Up to this point I decided this was him being a typical 4 year old, and by golly HE WAS GOING TO EAT!!!
Alison called Childrens and asked Dr. Tomlinson if she thought she needed to give him an appetite stimulant. According to Childrens, they don't give stimulants until after week 2. What finally concerned me, and probably always will, was realizing that this is exactly what happened the week before diagnosis. Looking at Logan, I think he looks like a child who doesnt feel well. He is not acting like he feels badly, and has all the energy in the world. I am wondering if maybe his counts arent a little low, and this is his body reacting to it.
The game plan from here is to give him the Miralax that he used to take for constipation, and see if that will help with matters. Hopefully it will do the trick, and we can be back to eating again. Please keep him in your prayers.

We are going to try and go to the parade in the morning, and see what happens from there. As of right now, I am not planning on altering plans, just taking a minute by minute approach. This weekend will probably have quite a few naps, which would be fine with me.

Love you all - talk to you soon!
Marcie

Rain, Rain, Go Away...
It seems like we should be boarding the Ark just any day now!

All is well in Logan Land. He is sure growing some hair back, and I honestly think it's growing back blond! Go figure! He is playing every part of the active 4 year old, and seems to grow up a little more every day. I guess my baby isn't a baby anymore. Or at least thats what he tells me!

I talked to one of the guys on the Fire Department, and he and I will meet tomorrow to discuss details of the fundraiser. I am amazed every day by the amazing people of Granbury. We are so blessed to live in such a wonderful community that stands together in times of need.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Today was such a great day, and I love seeing all of the guestbook entries! I think today was one of the highest number of entries! That means so much to us! Please keep Logan and all of his friends in your prayers. Weston is still in the hospital. Princess Peyton will turn 4 in just a few days, and Griffin is officially a Texan! Stop by these great kids' sites, and let them know you are thinking of them.

Hope all of you are doing well!
Hugs!

Well, I have to say that I goofed...

Don't worry, the offensive green background won't be staying long. Evidently, the black background that had been on the site was hiding the "hit counter". Unfortunately, I have no clue when we hit 10,000. The good news is that we hit 10,000! Thank you to all of you who faithfully visit, even if you don't sign. You know who you are!

As you'll see below ,the golf tournament has been scheduled. We would love to have all of our friends and family there to show their support for Logan. It promises to be a good time, and we look forward to seeing all of you there!

I haven't heard much out of the Police Department, but I do know that they're still working on the football game benefit for Logan. I'll be sure and fill you in when I know more.

If you haven't already, be sure and visit both the photo album as well as the link to another album for Logan. I am going to try and keep them pretty updated, but you all know how S L O W I can be sometimes. Please continue to sign Logan's guestbook. Since we started this site in February, there has only been 1 day (knock on wood) that there hasn't been any entries. We all love to hear what all you have to say, and I can honestly tell you it is one of the highlites of my day. (Ooh, that sounded pathetic!)

Please continue to pray for Logan's friends. There is one in particular that we haven't gotten the opportunity to meet personally, but he lives not too far from us. His name is Jacob, and you've probably heard me talk about him before. This family sure could use your prayers right now, and we know from experience that He listens!

Hope all of you are enjoying your summer. We are looking forward to a weekend of relaxing. Somehow that never seems to happen, but we have fun anyway!

Hugs!
Marcie

Ok - I got in trouble for not updating, so here goes, this one's for you Billie!

Logan is doing very well, and did extremely well on Wednesday at chemo. I honestly think he will miss going after all of this over. Praise God that he is a child, and doesn't know the complexity of all of this. He is starting to grow some hair back, and doesn't know what to do with himself. We may keep him bald on purpose...

While at chemo, we got to see Miss Peyton and her extended "family", and finally got the honor of meeting Weston's mom. I feel like I have known her for years. Funny how something like this brings so many people together.

I know there is so much more that I could say, but dont have the time. Dad is a groomsman in a wedding tomorrow, and the rehearsal dinner is tonight. Are we ready? NO. Do I think we will make it to Dallas in time? Probably not. All that matters is that it's the weekend, and we're together!

Hope all of you are doing well, please continue to pray for Logan's friends!

Monday, June 14, 2004 8:42 PM CDT

Happy Monday!

Hope this finds all of you doing well. We are trying to get in the groove of another long week, and can't help but wish it were the weekend. How come they never last?

Please pray for Logan's grandfather from Oklahoma. We found out tonight that he is in the hospital with blood pressure problems. I'll post more when I know more.

Other than that, not a whole lot going on around here. We go to chemo on Wednesday, and Logan can't wait! I don't know what we're going to do when he doesn't get to go even every three weeks. He sure is going to miss that place and all of the wonderful friends he's made. Please continue to pray for all of Logan's friends.
~ Peyton, Weston, and Griffin, we are all going to have to get together soon! Griffin, when are you coming? We can't wait! We hear that Chuck E. Cheese has some great pizza!

Logan sends his love to all of you!
W, M, & L (and Murphy too!)

Thursday, June 10, 2004 6:27 PM CDT

It's so close to Friday I can almost taste it!!!

This has been a pretty good week, but of course we are always glad to see a weekend. Logan is having a good summer, and getting to swim in his pool quite a bit. Nothin' like being a kid during the summer. Of course we haven't needed the pool all week because of the massive downpour of rain! I think is has gone away for a couple of days.

The next fundraiser has been planned!

The Logan Cherry golf tournament is scheduled for Saturday July 31st at The Pecan Plantation Nutcracker Golf Course in Granbury. I don't know details yet, but there are holes available for sponsorship as well as teams needed! I'll post more when I know more!

Hope all of you are doing well - much love to you all!

I think I see Noah's Ark coming!

It has rained for about a million years straight it seems! We are thinking we might have gotten enough rain to last for a few days. We forgot what sunshine looks like.

All is well in our world. Logan and mom have both been sick for a couple of days, but maybe we're on the road to recovery...hopefully!

We think maybe the house got jealous of the yard getting so much rain, so it decided to "water" itself. Our hot water heater busted this afternoon, so our laundry room and dining rooms got quite a watering. I'm tellin' ya, I think I've had enough water...

Thank you so much Laura and Marni for helping me with the link part of Logan's website. Logan is right, I am a complete goofball when it comes to this technical stuff. I think I got it, if this site explodes in a couple of days, you'll know I've done something wrong.

Thank you to all of you who continue to check in and sign Logan's guestbook. It means so much to not only Logan, but to Wally and I as well. I am working on a scrapbook for Logan about this past year, and I will be sure to print out and include all of the entries. You all have become so special to us, and we are so fortunate to have a nation-wide support group!

Please continue to pray for Logan's friends!

Have a great week!
Marcie

Another angel has earned her wings today...

Miranda (www.caringbridge.org/nc/mirandarae) went to fly with the angels this morning. Please keep her family in your prayers as they face these heart breaking next few days.

Thanks for your support-

Hello!
Hope all of you had a wonderful 3 day weekend. We had a good time, and it was very hard to get out of bed this morning! Logan even wanted to sleep on this morning, and the only way I was able to get him out of bed was to promise his waffles at his grandmother's house. Luckily she was prepared...

Logan continues to soar, and we are so very blessed in so many ways. God has truly kept us safe in His arms, and we are very aware of His presence in our lives. We will never be the same for the experiences He has guided us through. This whole cancer thing stinks, and I wouldn't wish it on anybody. If it had to happen, we have had an eye-opening experience, and wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. We have learned so much as a family, and figured out pretty quickly what is important in our lives, and what isn't. I don't think we will ever take anything for granted, especially family and loved ones. I can't say it enough, tell somebody that you love them today. I have seen so many kids earn their angel wings, and I can't imagine the pain these parents feel. Sometimes when we feel like things just aren't going our way, we just have to stop and remember that we have been given a second chance with the most important person in our lives, and for that we are extremely thankful. We still have hard days, even though Logan shows no sign of illness. I sometimes forget that he is still a happy, normal 4 year old. There are times when I just want to pull my hair out because he tracks in mud on my freshly cleaned floor, or spills the entire box of cereal on the kitchen floor, or especially when he demolishes his bedroom when I have just spent an hour cleaning it. At that very moment, I just stop and praise God that he is with us to do these things, and has the energy to drive me crazy. We are so fortunate, and serve such an awesome God. We may never know the reasons that God chose for us to weather this storm, but in all honesty, I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

I always end up spilling my guts, and make these journal entries a whole lot longer that I meant to. Thanks for lending your ear.

Please, Please, Please continue to pray for all of Logan's friends fighting cancer. As I mentioned a couple of days ago, I know of a little guy who could sure use your prayers right now, and I know from experience that his parents sure would appreciate them. Please ask God to place His loving arms around Jacob and his family. This is a really hard time for them, and prayer is the one thing that everyone can do to help them right now. If you have prayer chains, or know of anybody that would pray for Jacob, please add him to your list. I'll keep you updated on his condition as I know more.

Much love to you all!

What a great day we have had! We started off bright and early this morning and headed off towards Nana and Chiefs house. We picked up a couple of things there, then headed off to West Texas. This was a much needed trip to see my grandmother, Logan's Great-Grandmother. Our visits are always wonderful, and this one was no exception. We also got the chance to see my aunt and uncle for a little while, and got to visit them too. Congrats to my cousin Chance on your graduation! We are so proud of you!

On a more serious note, the cancer monster has shown his ugly head once again, pretty close to home. There is a young man who I believe is 9 years old, and his parents found out a couple of days ago that he has cancer. I don't think they are sure of exactly what type of cancer this is, but plain and simple, cancer is cancer. When a parent hears that word in the same sentence as your child's name, nothing will ever be the same, regardless of the medical terminology. Please keep this child and his family in your prayers. I don't want to say too much about this family personally because I don't know what they want "aired". I know there are many people who check in on Logan on a daily basis, so while you are here, could you please just say a prayer and lift this family up. We all know how powerful prayer is, and "When two or more are gathered in His name..." I'll post more on this situation as I know more.

I have a couple of on-line Thank You's! Here goes!

Mike, Melinda, and boys- Thanks a million for the really cool pictures. Logan is figuring out who the San-Antonio Spurs are, and thinks it's pretty cool that they "know him". We already have them framed and in his room. Wally REALLY wanted them for our bedroom, but I WON THAT BATTLE! Thanks agaon!

Angel Angela- I think that we need to consider renaming the postal service to "Angel Angela to Logan Express"! Thank you for your sweet, sweet thoughtfulness! Yesterday Logan got a "water weenie" (that what they call them, I promise!), and it made the trip to west Texas today. Today when we got home, there was another box on the porch, and Logan said "Angel Angela has been here!" I think you rank up there with the tooth fairy and Santa Clause! As we speak, the FSU ball cap is on that bald little head, and he's eating dinner off the SpongeBob plate, and drinking juice out of the cup! You are his hero! (And ours too!)

Cindy, Dudley, and Chance- A bald kid can never have too many caps! I love the Old Navy one, and Logan likes the UT one. Do you think we have a future UT Longhorn on our hands? Not if I can help it! I see a Red Raider myself...

Marni- I love the keychain! Logan is totally impressed that you found a keychain with his picture in it. You are such a wonderful friend!

I know there are tons more people to thank, and we couldn't have made this journey without any of you! God has put some of the most amazing people in our lives, and for that we will be forever grateful.

Guess I don't have a whole lot more to say. We have a quiet Memorial Day weekend in store. Possibly taking a dip in the pool tomorrow if it doesn't rain. Danny, don't worry, we aren't letting the water stand still. Murphy decided he'd go for a dip last weekend, so we had to empty the entire pool, and start over. Talk about expensive water bill! Mom told me you were concerned, and I think that's sweet!

Much love to you all! Have a safe and happy holiday weekend!

A KAJILLION DOWN, THREE TO GO!!!

Logan finished another round of chemo today, and did really well. I'm tellin' ya, I should buy stock in the annoying books that have the buttons that "talk". Last time it was SpongeBob Squarepants, this time it was Dora the Explorer, but whatever it was, it works wonders! Evidently, all Logan needed was a little distraction while having his port "stuck". This kid is amazing!

When we got home this afternoon, we had to clean the house, because "The Wish Guys Are Coming"! The "Wish Granters" from Make-A-Wish came to our house at 5:00 this afternoon, and they didn't come empty handed. They brought Logan a really cool tool set, and a Make-A-Wish T-Shirt! It looks like we are getting to go to Disney! Logan made it very clear that he wanted to go to "Mickey's House", and that was that! I think this is a pretty special organization and they certainly roll out the red carpet for these kids. I think they will plan a "dinner" at the restaurant of Logan's choosing. (Chuck E. Cheese I'm sure), and then be there at the airport when we leave, and when we get back. There are a lot of finer details that are going to be a surprise!

Logan is doing great! We love all of you, and appreciate you friendship and prayers. Weston, sorry we missed you! I promise we'll make it up to you buddy!

Have a great week!

Marcie

Well, I hope all of you have had a great weekend. Ours has been wonderful! I am going to attempt to do a new slideshow as well as put some of the pictures in the website photo album. We have had so much fun, and I think my camera is getting tired! It works so hard these days.

We put the swimming pool up officially, and have spent almost all day today swimming. We had to stop once in the early afternoon to stop and eat lunch, and Logan was so pooped that he fell asleep eating his corndog. After he woke up, the first thing he asked was if he could go swimming again. Of course we ALL got in this time. It looked like he was having way too much fun without us! Poor Murphy (the dog) doesn't understand why he can't get in. He wants so bad to go for a quick dip. That pitiful little head pops up over the edge every once in a while as if to say "Did you forget about me?"

We are gearing up for another big week. We will go back to chemo on Wednesday. This will be the first treatment in three weeks, so we joke about not being able to find our way there. I am only a little concerned that he will get sick as if he is starting all over again. Have any of you cancer parents had any trouble with this?

When we get home on Wednesday afternoon, we are supposed to meet with Lewis and Ed, Logan's Make-A-Wish wish granters. (That's a mouthful!) I think they are planning on coming to our house, so I better get it clean! Wonder if I cooked (yeah right, like I cook...) they would throw in an extra trip to the Bahamas? I can't seem to talk Logan into that. For some strange reason he seems to think that Disney would be more fun. Go Figure...

I guess that's all that we have going on right now. Please keep your prayers coming for Logan and all of the other couragous cancer fighters. We know first-hand how much that helps! While you're here, check out the photo album, and sign the guestbook!

Thank goodness it's almost Friday!
This has been an ok week, but of course we are looking forward to a weekend. Logan has had a pretty good week, and I think he is feeling great. He sure has gotten his appetite back, and I think he is on the road to gaining ALL his weight back, and more!
Thank you to all of you who continue to keep us in your prayers. We love to read all of the uplifting things you write in the guestbook, and they will be treasured forever. The support we have received has made this whole experience bearable. We are so thankful to have all of you in our lives.
Logan doesn't know it yet, but he is going to have the best surprise when he gets home tomorrow. Once again Angel Angela has blown us away with her generosity. When we came home this afternoon, Logan had a package on the doorstep. I knew what it was, so I have kinda kept it hidden until tomorrow, when we can REALLY play with it. Logan has gotten a pool from Angel Angela. If you know Logan, you know he LOVES the water, and loves to swim. It is super heavy, so it must be a pretty big pool. We are all looking forward to enjoying it this summer as a family. Who knows, we might actually get good tans this summer! (yeah right!!) ~~ Angel Angela - we love you!~~
I guess not a whole lot more than that is going on. Please keep all of Logan's friends in your prayers. We found out this week tht Griffin has relapsed, and he and his family could sure use your prayers. We all know about the power of prayer!
Hope all of you are doing well, have a great weekend!

Hello Friends!

We sure do enjoy our weekends, and hate to see them end. This weekend was pretty busy. Logan got to go to a birthday party last night, and he spent a good part of the day with his grandparents. He helped Papa mow the yard, and I hear they did a pretty good job.

Logan has been kinda grumpy today, and I guess that is just part of being a 4 year old. Sometimes it is so hard for me to discipline him, but I know that we would have a raging monster if I didn't. I know that he has learned how to manipulate us, and I have fallen for it every time. He got into pretty bad trouble this morning, and had to lay in bed for about 2 1/2 hours. He thinks that all he has to do is say "I love You", and he will get out of anything. I must admit that it used to get me every time, but I guess his teachers at school wouldn't fall for that, so neither should I... I guess part of me still feels so sorry for him.

All in all, we have one fantastic little boy, who has blessed our lives in more ways than one. Not a day goes by that he doesn't make us laugh at something he has come up with. Friday night he was laying on the couch with Dad, and he told him a joke. After not getting much of a response from dad, Logan said "a lot of people laugh at that you know". Where does he come up with this stuff?

Hope all of you are doing well, and have had a good weekend. Please continue to keep Logan and all of the other kiddos in your prayers. We know first hand what the power of prayer can do. Thanks for stopping by, and don't forget to sign the guestbook so we will know you were here!

TGIF! TGIF! TGIF! TGIF!

We are so glad that it is finally Friday! This has been one long week, and we could all use some R&R. Today was a pretty big day for us. Logan had to get labwork done today, so we got to go see our Pediatrician! As always, they made such a fuss over Logan, and he was such a celebrity! He was such a tough little man! He did so good when Alison was drawing his blood that she really loaded him up with goodies. He got tons of SpongeBob Glow in the Dark bandaids, and a sticky foot, and even a VERY LOUD ambulance toy. I'll have to remember to thank her for that later. I kinda have a feeling that it will somehow find it's way back into her office pretty quickly...

I went into work after all of that was over, and had a pretty normal day. After lunch, I received a phone call from Make-A-Wish! It seems that they have found us some "Wish Granters" who will be calling us in the next week or so to set up an interview. The way I understand it, they will call us and set up an interview. They will come to our house and meet with Logan, and ask him what it is that he is wishing for. I think it all gets coordinated at that point. I guess we had better start teaching Logan how to say "Bahama Cruise"! I think he is actually wanting to go to Disneyworld. We are looking forward to it, but knowing Logan, he will wish for something like a pair of socks! I guess we'll do whatever it is that he wants!

I guess that's all that's going on around here. Hope all of you have a great weekend!

PLEASE CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR CONNOR!

Happy Thursday!

Hope this finds all of you doing well, and preparing for a fantastic weekend. Logan has had a somewhat better day, and is eating a little better. He and his Dad are playing in his room. All I know is that girls aren't allowed, and there is a whole lot of laughing and yelling going on...

We will go to our Pediatrician's office tomorrow (We love you Alison!) to have labwork done. When I talked to Alison (Dr. Simpson -Pediatrician) today, she is excited about seeing Logan, but afraid he won't like her after she sticks him. She has already warned me that if it looks like he won't like her, she is going to make the nurse do his lab draw. What she doesn't realize, is that he is actually excited to go tomorrow and see the "ketchup come out of his finger". Logan's nurse, Ramona, is awesome and Logan loves her! The first time he met her was the day of diagnosis, but when we have seen her in town or gone by the office to visit, he clings to her! I guess it doesn't hurt that she's cute too! Like father like son!!! I have decided that there are way too many male hormones around this house! Even the dog is a male! I am way outnumbered!

Please continue to pray for Logan's friends. This is a horrible thing for anybody to go through, much less a child. What I can say though, is that I can certainly see a bright side in this. God has truly taken us from valley to mountaintop. Before diagnosis, we were living life, taking so much for granted. I know so many things now, that I didn't know then. I know that there ARE still good people out there. I know that Peyton's sister Lindsay is right, "If He brings you to it, He will bring you through it". I know that you have to hit rock bottom before you realize just how blessed you are. I know that once you get your priorities in order, trivial things like the kind of car you drive or the clothes you wear, are no longer important. I know that EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON regardless of if we know the reason at the time or not. I know that families are forever, and one of God's greatest gifts to us is our families. I know that God listens, and He hears those desperate prayers, even at 3:00am.

We serve an amazing God, and He has wrapped his loving arms around our entire family. Whether you know it or not, all of you have made a difference in our lives forever. Each time one of you prayed for us, or sent a card, or signed the guestbook, we know that you were acting as God's messenger sending us a little piece of His love. Wally, Logan and I have felt more peace than you could ever imagine. Very few nights did we lose sleep, because we knew in our hearts that there were angels surrounding our home, and watching over Logan.

I cannot ever explain the gratitude we have for all of our Caringbridge family. Peyton's Mom and Dad and our dear friends Dane and Marni White are the ones who first told us about Caringbridge. Our daily lives have been so much easier since. It is so nice to be able to go somewhere and have somebody tell you that they understand what you are going through, or that they love you or are praying for you. That is an amazing feeling. We have made so many incredible people who are going through what we are facing. Sometimes we feel like we have 35 kids because we check on so many of these kids on a daily basis. When one of those precious kids earn their angel wings, our hearts break too. We feel for those parents because all of us have had to face that reality at some point, and that is the ultimate heartache. While our hearts are broken, we also rejoice because we know these kids are celebrating now, and no longer hurting. A feeling like no other...

I had no intention of making this such a long entry. I guess I just had more to say than I originally thought! If you have made it this far, boy am I impressed! Thank you all for your continued love and support. It means so much to us. Please continue to pray for Connor, who learned of his prognosis yesterday, and is being such a trooper about this terrifying situation. One of the kids that we check on daily, Amber Ashworth, earned her angel wings this morning. She was and continues to be such an inspiration to so many. Please keep her family in your prayers.

OK, Hug and Kiss your kids, tell somebody that you love them, and have a great weekend! Much love to you all!

Marcie

Hello!
It has been a couple of days since I've written, so I guess I better update. This is the first week since the week of Feb. 9th that we haven't had to have chemo. I don't think we will know what to do with ourselves tomorrow. We are really beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. We are so very blessed with the strength and courage that God has given to Logan. I am so proud of him, and how brave he has been. He has taught me so much.
Yesterday and today have been kinda crummy for Logan. He isn't sick, but doesn't feel great either. He is laying around quite a bit, and not eating too well. Every now and then he will get a sudden burst of energy, and play, but he settles down pretty quickly. Through all of this, he has been incredibly healthy, and if this is as bad as it gets, we'll take it!
I guess that's all that's going on here!

Keep in touch!

Marcie

Hi everyone!

It's been a couple of days since I've written in, and fortunately not a whole lot has gone on. Our little trooper continues to soar, and lives day by day as an active 4 year old.

Yesterday was Logan's grandfather (Chief's) birthday. We got to go to Stephenville and surprise him. It is always so much fun to go and visit. We all played Phase 10 card game, (Aunt Mel, you better be practicing!) and got home really late. It was a good time, and hopefully Chief had a good birthday.

Dad had to go to work for a little while today, so Logan and I are cleaning house and doing laundry. He is getting pretty good at mopping the floor! I have taught him so well. He loves to clean! I think once he figures out that it isn't as much fun as he wants it to be, it will all be over.

We are having beautiful weather, and hopefully we will all get to do some playing outside. Hope all of you have a good weekend!

To all of the mothers out there, hope you have a wonderful mothers day! Nana, Grannie, Aunt Mel, Aunt Cindy, and Grandmother I love all of you and thank you for all you have done for me in my life, and for showing me the way to being a good mother and wife. Happy Mothers Day!

Happy Day!
Marcie

Hello*Hello*Hello~

Hope all of you are doing well! We have had a fantastic day, and this one is definately for the books. As you may know, we had chemo today. Logan was very excited about going, and it seemed like it would be a normal chemo day. First off, Logan had to have the finger stick for his labwork today. Last time he did very well with this, and did good again today. I think as long as he kinda "understands" what is going on and why, he does much better. We quickly got to go to an exam room, and Dr. Tomlinson (Oncologist) came in soon after that. She said that she hadn't seen the sonogram report from last week, and she left the room to go get it. When she came back into the room, there was a man with her that I had never seen. My heart sank, and I just knew something was wrong, and this was another type of specialist. As it turns out, it was just a resident intern. Whew! She gave me the report, and EVERYTHING IS CLEAR!!! She said that according to Wilms' guidelines Logan would be considered to be in remission. "When there are no indications or symptoms of the cancer, remission begins". Woo Hoo! We now only have to go for treatments every three weeks, and only have to do that 5 more times. We should be finishing up with chemo all together (if everything goes as planned) in late August, and possibly have the port removed in September! There is definately a light at the end of the tunnel.

If you got through all of that, and understood it all, congrats! It sure was a mouthfull!

DON'T FORGET TO SIGN THE GUESTBOOK!!!
DON'T FORGET TO SIGN THE GUESTBOOK!!!
DON'T FORGET TO SIGN THE GUESTBOOK!!!
DON'T FORGET TO SIGN THE GUESTBOOK!!!

Hope everybody is having a good week! Wally and I truly appreciate all of your kind words and prayers. We are so very blessed. Please remember all of the children who are fighting cancer right now, and their parents as well. This is a life changing experience, and unfortunately, there are families out there who have nobody to lean on. Thanks for allowing us to lean on you.

Wally, Marcie, and Logan

Oh yeah, don't forget to sign the guestbook! (Did I mention that yet?)

Tuesday, May 4, 2004 8:47 PM CDT

Hi!!

Just a quick entry for tonight. Logan is doing great, and actually looking forward to going to chemo tomorrow. We have been trying to do some work on the website (as you can probably tell), and are still trying to get it the way we want it.

Please, Please, Please (this is me begging) sign the guestbook so that we will know you were here. There were over 100 "hits" today, and only 4 people signed the guestbook. It means so much to us knowing that you were here!

It's time for us to go read. (Tonight's selection is Dr. Seuss' "Green Eggs and Ham"!) Anybody wanna come read with us? It's an awesome book! Logan almost has it memorized!

We're off to chemo tomorrow morning, and we will get the official report from last weeks sonogram. We are 99.999% sure it came back clear. We'll fill you in tomorrow!

Lots of love!

Monday, May 3, 2004 6:57 PM CDT

Happy Monday!

This is going to be a different kind of update. Logan is doing great, and feels fantastic. There is somebody who has come into our lives, and I think she deserves a little recognition.

Logan's "Angel" Angela, has come in and completely taken Logan into her heart. Not a week goes by, that Logan doesn't get a care package from her. The guidelines in the ChemoAngel program, states that they could/should send a small gift every so often. Angel Angela has done way more than that. She knows what Logan likes, what makes him happy, and she goes all out. She sends very nice gifts to Logan, and he knows exactly who they are from. Any time he gets some type of gift, he thinks it is from Angel Angela. He told me tonight, (while showing me this weeks package) that Angel Angela really loves him, and "I love her too". To say that Angela is an Angel would be an understatement. Although we have never met face to face (yet...) we all feel like she has been part of the family for ages. God has truly blessed us by allowing us to have her as our Angel.

Angel Angela - we love you! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all of the joy you have brought to our precious child. You truly are an angel!!!

Sunday, May 2, 2004 7:40 PM CDT

Hello-
Hope all of you have had a wonderful weekend. Aside from the cold weather yesterday, we had a fantastic restful weekend. This is the week we begin the "maintenance" portion of Logan's chemo. Now starting Wednesday, we will only have to go every three weeks, rather than weekly. We aren't going to know what to do with ourselves when we don't have to go to chemo next week. It will be the first time in almost three months that we haven't been to Children's. I bet we will be able to find something to do with ourselves. Work maybe?

Some of you may have noticed that I haven't written in a couple of days. I decided that since Logan is doing so very well, and there are so many days where there is nothing going on, that I don't need to write every day. I will try and write every other day or so, and certainly if anything happens that is worthy of writing.

Please continue to pray for not only Logan, but ALL of the amazing kids out there who are fighting cancer. Also on a personal note, please pray for my great uncle Freddie. This is a man who would give the shirt off his back for anybody in need, and I have never met anybody with a bigger heart. As I have mentioned before, Freddie was diagnosed with cancer for the second time a couple of weeks ago. Please say an extra prayer for him.

Wally and I appreciate all of you for your support and prayers. There are so many people who have made such a difference in our lives, and we love you so much! Our families, friends, "*Angels*", employers, co-workers, and people in both our hometown community and in the Caringbridge community! You will never know just how deeply you have touched our hearts.

Hope you all have a great week!

Thursday, April 29, 2004 6:55 PM CDT

It's Thursday and Friends is on, so this one might be quick...maybe. First of all, Logan has had a great day. He is eating really well, and feels great.

Angel Angela ~~ I think Logan loves you more than he does his biological family. He is SO thrilled when he gets packages from you, because he knows it will be awesome! This evening we learned names of all three beanie baby puppies while eating gummy bears and reading a dinosaur book. Thank You so much!!!

Please sign the guestbook so that we will know you were here. Yesterday was the first time since we started this that we didn't get ANY entries in the guestbook. I noticed that there were over 30 "hits" last night, and nobody signed the guestbook. (Let me know if this guilt trip has worked...)

Please keep all of Logan's friends in your prayers. These are some fantastic kids and they could use your prayers.

Hello Friends!

Let's start off by telling you what happened last night. The security alarm went off at mom's office, so we went up there to turn it off and see what was going on. After the policemen got through securing the building, we all got to stand around and talk for a little while. Both of the officers knew exactly who Logan was (scary thought...), and Logan thought they were pretty cool. One of the guys reached into his pocket and handed Logan a handful of police badges. (The stickers that look like the real Granbury Police badges) He thinks he is such a big shot now, and for today anyway, wants to be a "capriceman" when he grows up.

Today not much has happened. Everybody is having a good day, and we are enjoying the little bit of rain we got this afternoon. Hope all of you are doing well.

Please continue to keep Peyton and Weston in your prayers. They are both in the hospital this week, and we all know how much fun that can be.

Much love to you all!

Happy Tuesday!

We have all had a good day, and it is ending rather nicely as well. Logan and dad are playing baseball in his room (plastic blow up ball and bat), and so far I think Logan is winning. I don't think it takes much to beat old dad. Those boys are so much fun, and they can make you tired, fast...

Not a whole lot else going on here. We are already looking forward to another weekend. Those just don't seem to last long enough. Looks like Logan is trying his best into talking dad into either fishing or playing putt-putt this weekend. Who knows if girls will be allowed or not...

Keep signing the guestbook!!!

***IT'S CLEAR***IT'S CLEAR***IT'S CLEAR***IT'S CLEAR***

Not that we didn't know they would be, but the "Unofficial" report on Logan's Sonogram and Chest
X-Ray said that everything was clear! I took all I had not to cry when I heard that. GOD IS SO GOOD!!!

Logan did exceptionally well today, even though he didn't have to have chemo. He was so big and brave for the Sonogram and Chest X-Ray, and even bigger for the finger stick for labs. When the nurse stuck his finger, his only reaction was "Ow". Then he went on to tell her that it was ketchup coming from his finger, because he had ketchup yesterday. What a little smartie. We will go back again next Wednesday for chemo, THEN start the every three week treatment plan. I have heard this referred to as the maintenance plan. YIPPEE!!!

Hope all is well with all of you - much love to you all!

I guess this is a close to another good weekend~

Tomorrow we are supposed to be at Children's in Dallas at 7:30am for the Sonogram and Chest X-Ray. I am not really worried about finding anything, but there is a sick feeling creeping up the back of my throat. I guess that will always be there, even when Logan is 30 years old. I know I was a hypochondriac before, but that was nothing compared to how I am now. I'll probably go from one extreme to the other, and be the mother who lets my childs appendix rupture because I think his stomach hurts from eating too much candy. My poor pediatrician. Thank Goodness she knew me well enough before to know that I haven't always been this crazy... (Keep your comments to yourselves...:))

Please continue to pray for Logan's strength and courage. He is doing worlds better, but is still petrified of the actual chemo process. I can only imagine what is going through his little head.

Hope you all are doing well, please continue to sign the guestbook so that we will know that you were here.

Have a great week!!

This will be a short entry, because we really don't have anything going on. The house is clean, and laundry done so we are just hanging out enjoying the weather...

I am so sorry that it is so late when I am finally journaling tonight! I think I may have spoiled some of you though, by doing it every day! (Secretly, I think it's an addiction of sorts...)

We have had a fantastic day. Tonight kicked off Hood County's "Relay for Life". If you have never been to "Relay", I can't urge you enough to go this year. It is so powerful, and I promise you that you will be glad you went. I can't describe the feeling that we felt tonight while walking the "Survivor Lap". I was flooded with so many emotions, and I just could not stop the tears. I was thinking about all of the children who weren't fortunate enough to walk this year, and whose parents would have given anything to be there that very moment. I was praising God that my precious son is so incredibly healthy that he would have run the lap had I let him. God's grace was definately in abundance tonight, and His presence was so unmistakable. While the Survivors were walking the lap, there were people lined up all around, and the continuous applause was very emotional. It kind of signifies how our community has stood behind us with so much gracious support. The song that was playing when we were walking was "Lean on Me". It made me think of all of the people we have been leaning so strongly on, and whose support we could have not have made it without. It reminds us of how we lean on Christ, not only when things are tough, but also in every day life. HE IS SO STRONG!!!

Once again I have gone on and on. Please support your local "Relay for Life"!!!

Logan's Nana and Chief got to come go with us, and Logan was very glad to see them as always. He ended up talking Chief into taking him to Wal-Mart for a swimming pool. After what I think was a pretty in depth and lengthy conversation, Logan decided on getting a bubble mower instead. Who knew???

Please take a few minutes to check out the new pictures on the slide show. Also, don't forget to sign the guestbook!

~Wally, Marcie, and Logan

Thursday, April 22, 2004 6:21 PM CDT

I think today might be what people have been warning us about. Although definately not as bad as what could happen, Logan has had kind of a puny day. He didn't really eat a whole lot, and really didn't feel like doing anything. He has cried for quite a while this evening, and just doesn't seem able to make himself content. I'm sure it's just one of those days, and tomorrow will be better. Hope all of you are doing well!

Thanks again for checking in, and signing the guestbook!

Yippee!

We had our last WEEKLY chemo treatment today, and it went well. Unfortunately we did not get to see Lesley, our play therapist. He did well, and didn't complain too much. We will go back for our ultrasound on Monday, and we'll do lab counts at that time. We are definately able to see that light at the end of this tunnel.

Thank you all for all of your loving support and prayers. It means so much to us. We read the guestbook nightly, and Logan loves it!

Hello!
Not a whole lot going on here today, and we are very thankful for that. We will go back to chemo in the morning, and then it will be one more down!

Please continue to pray for my great-uncle Freddie. He got some results back today, and his doctors are wanting to run more tests. I know he could sure use your prayers, and we all know what power we have in God.

Thank you all again for your continued support. It is so good to know what wonderful friends we have!

I hope you have had a relatively good Monday! We have had a good day, and are looking forward to this week. I think I have gotten all of the website issues resolved, and hopefully I will have music on here soon.

Logan is continuing to amaze me. I would have never imagined he could be doing this well. We are so very blessed, and realize that more and more every day.

Have a good night!

I guess even the weekends have to end eventually. We have had so much fun, and it will be hard to start another week tomorrow. At least the weather was nice, and we got to spend some time having fun.

Everything is well here, not a whole lot to say tonight. Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers. We couldn't have made it without you! Have a good night!

Logan is a celebrity!
The magazine published by the Dallas Morning News was mailed to us today, and we finally got to see the pictures! He is such a cutie (of course we are biased)! If you'd like to see it for yourself, go to "www.pulse.dallasnews.com", and then proceed to click on the "Pulse" icon. I believe he is on pages 18 and 19.

Logan got to go "camping" today, and even got to ride a four wheeler with dad for a few minutes. He had a really good time, but was ready to come home too!

Hope all is well with you all. Be sure and sign the guestbook, and check out the new picture in the photo album!

It's Friday! It's Friday, It's Friday!

We have had such a wonderful week, but we are so glad to have a weekend! Logan has had yet another great day, and is currently watching SpongeBob! Yes, it's 10:09pm, and my 4 year old is still awake. Maybe this means he'll sleep late tomorrow morning...

I talked to the Radiology Team at Children's Medical Center this afternoon, and it looks like we won't miss a full week of driving to Dallas after all. The way it stands right now, we will go have chemo on Wednesday, then on Monday go back and have the radiological testing done. (Ultrasound and Chest X-Ray) We will go back again the following Wednesday, THEN it will be every three weeks.
Confusing enough???

Ok, our extended family is in need of prayer, and I know that this is the place to turn. My Great-Uncle, Freddie Harrison, has had a tough week. Please lift him as well as his wife, kids, and grandkids up to the Lord. Freddie has had a history of cancer and has lost an eye because of it. There is a chance that the cancer has returned in this very special man. This is one man who has always put God as the cornerstone of his life, and his family's lives. We all know that God has purpose in everything He does, but that doesn't make this seem any easier. Please storm the Heavens for this family, and pray for healing, comfort, and peace upon this man and those who love him.

Thank you for your continuous support of all of us. Your encouraging words in the guestbook are so very uplifting. It does us so much good to know how many people are praying for us. We thank you with all that we have!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

In Him-
Marcie

It's almost Friday, and boy are we glad. It has been another long week, and we are looking forward to some much needed R&R. Evidently some of the chemo drugs are making Logan lose some motor skills. He has fallen 3 times already tonight. Luckily they have just been "minor spills", and nothing severe.

Hope all of you are doing well, we'll update tomorrow!

Marcie

Wednesday, April 14, 2004 6:17 PM CDT

Looks like tonight will be another short entry. Today was chemo, and it lasted forever! We got there at 10:15am, and didn't leave until 3:45 this afternoon! Talk about a long day! Next Wednesday when we go, Logan will have a CT Scan done, and that will be the end of his weekly treatments - YEA!!! We will skip a week, then go back for treatments every three weeks. We can sure handle that! We got to see Dr. Tomlinson today, and she said everything looks great, and this is exactly where she wanted us to be in Logan's course of treatment.

Angel Angela, you never cease to amaze me! Today when we got home, there was a package in the mail for Logan. He got some really awesome do-rags in really cool patterns! He thinks he is SO cool tonight! I'll try and get pictures posted. Angel Angela is the best!

Chad and Lora Simpson - thank you from the bottom of my heart! Your generousity simply astounds me. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You...

Well, I guess that's it for tonight! Please continue to pray for all of Logan's friends who are fighting cancer.
Peyton (www.caringbridge.org/tx/peytonwhite)
Weston (www.caringbridge.org/tx/weston)
Megan, Kyle, Elisha, and all of the other incredible kids in this battle! We all know how prayer works, and these kids sure do need it!

Logan will be participating in this years "Relay for Life", and he will be walking in the SURVIVORS LAP! Granbury's will be held on Friday, April 23rd. Part of the money raised will go towards hospitals such as Children's Medical Center of Dallas (Logan's hospital), where research is continuously being done to help these kids have a brighter tomorrow! Please make plans to attend your local "Relay for Life", it is such an amazing experience.

Ok, I said this was going to be a short one, and I guess I changed my mind! Hope you all are having a great week!

Hi-
Not anything new going on here, Logan got to go with dad to the movie store to rent a movie. That is one of his favorite things to do, and I think they both enjoy that quality time together.
We will go back to chemo tomorrow for what might possibly be our last weekly treatment. It will be a long day with the IV treatment. Keep us in our prayers, and please pray for Logan's strength and courage. Thank you all for your support!

Hello!
Logan has had a pretty good day. The next couple of days should be interesting, Logan and I both have come up with a low grade fever. I think it's just a "bug", and hopefully won't result in anything major.
This is going to be a short one, I think we may go to bed a little early tonight!

Happy Birthday to Logan and Happy Easter!

We have had a slow, rainy birthday, and Easter! We got up and went to Stephenville and mom went to church with Nana, and Logan and dad went to Nana's house and watched the "Master's Golf Tournament" with Chief. It was a nice day, and certainly a slower pace than yesterday.

Don't we serve an AWESOME God? We just think it is amazing and a miracle to say the least that Logan is doing so incredibly well. Every time I look at this precious child, I cannot believe how blessed we are. Just over two months ago, we were sitting at Children's Medical Center, not knowing what we had in store for us. Wally and I were just a couple of scared kids, and had no clue how we were going to care for such a sick child, and just how bad his prognosis was. God has really blessed us with such wonderful family, friends, physicians, nurses, and medical staff. We have total confidence in Christ, and truly believe that WE WILL WALK away from this totally healed. Logan has made such an impact on so many people, that we know He has wonderful plans in store for him.

I talked to a teacher and dear friend of mine from high school today, and coming home this afternoon, I realized how much my priorities had changed. Back then it was all about materialistic things, and now my number one priority is this child. I truly believed then that I was a Christian, and still do. I had no idea what true faith and trust was until about two months ago. You can't imagine what it is like to have total faith and trust until you have a life changing event like this. Wally and I had no choice but to "Let go, and let God". We have handed everything to Him, and juat trust! This is such a good feeling. Scary at times, but very comforting.

I hope all of you have had a wonderful Easter! Thank you all for checking in on the website, and offering such words of encouragement. Love to you all!

Happy Easter!!
Wally, Marcie, Logan (and Murphy)

Happy Early Birthday to Logan!

We had such a good time today at Logan's Birthday Party! So many people got to come, and we had a really good time despite the yucky weather. The bounce house came, and then left before he set up because of the weather. Then, he came back! He said that it looked like the weather was clearing up, and so we got to have a bounce house! There were only 4 kids in it, so it was pretty laid back...

Logan got so much cool stuff, and so many friends came to see him! Nana and Chief, Nana and Papa, Aunt Joy and Uncle Mark, Aunt Jill, Emily, Raley, Granny Ross and Papa Ross, Roxanne and Eric, Kenny and Andrea, Shari and Kyli, Jimmy and Kristy, Jennifer and Wyatt, and Susie. It seems like there were more of you here, and it was so much fun! Thank you all for being so sweet to Logan for his birthday. He has things to keep him busy for a year!

I am in the process of trying to post all 88 of the birthday pictures on Snapfish, so be sure and check it out there. I will try and post some on here too!

Happy Easter to all of you - God Bless!

Marcie

TGIF!

I am writing a little earlier today, because I think we are about to go BIRTHDAY SHOPPING! I can hardly believe that Logan will turn 4 Sunday! It seems like it was only yesterday that he was just learning how to crawl. My how time flies!

Logan has had a very good day today. He got to go to Nana Mary's house and his cousins Emily and Raley came over with Aunt Jill, and all of the girls made Easter cupcakes and colored eggs! He loves to play with those girls. I think they treat him like he is a big boy, and not like he is sick.

I truly believe that Angel Angela is sent from Heaven! Once again, Logan had an enormous box on the porch when I got home from work. Inside was an adorable Easter basket filled to the brim with a dancing bunny, LOTS of chocolate, and SpongeBob stuff too! He hasn't seen it yet, but I'm sure he will be so excited!!! Angela, I might have to send him to you when he gets used to all of these surprises! It's a good thing he's not spoiled! (ha ha ha)

A special Thanks goes out to Vance and Janet McDonald. Logan will get to eat a Happy Meal tonight, and boy is he excited. Thank you both so much for the birthday wishes, and for the chicken nuggets and milkshake he will enjoy tonight! We are so blessed to have you as family! Love you all!

I guess that's all I have for now. Have a great evening!

Marcie

Happy Thursday!

We are really looking forward to this weekend. Logan will turn 4, and then we'll celebrate Easter! We will need another weekend to recover from this one. So far, it looks like he'll be able to have a fun day, and of course eat lots of Incredible Hulk cake!

A BIG THANK YOU goes out to Logan's new best friend, Angel Angela! Today when the doorbell rang, Logan knew immedediately that is must have something to do with Angel Angela. As it turns out, he knew what he was talking about. What he got was a HUGE Incredible Hulk, and lots and lots of giggles and smiles. That to a mom is more precious and valuable than anything.

I have posted new pictures in the photo album, so be sure and check it out when you are here!

Until tomorrow!

One more day of chemo down!

We had a considerably good day today at chemo. I think Logan is understandibly getting tired of going through chemo. He still loves going to play with Lesley at Play Therapy, and we found out today that Lesley is 3 months pregnant! Congrats Lesley! We are so happy for you. She has helped Logan out so much, and made the whole process so much easier.

CeCe (Logan's nurse) says the swollen lymph nodes aren't something to be worried about. She says it was evidently signs of his body fighting some type of infection, and that because it has gone down now, that he's fought it off. We got the counts back from today's labwork, and his counts are outstanding. All of his nurses see no reason that he shouldn't be able to have an amazing birthday party on Saturday, and I think it will do everybody some good! He is feeling kinda gloomy, and very clingy to mommy. I think he is just a little tired, and needs a little rest. So, I have made arrangements to stay home from work with him tomorrow, and we'll spend some quality time together. Plus, Nana Mary's taking Papa to have knee surgery tomorrow, so it just works out.

Please remember Logan's friends
Peyton (www.caringbridge.org/tx/peytonwhite),
Weston (www.caringbridge.org/tx/weston),
Cheyenne (www.caringbridge.org/tx/cheyenne5),
Megan, Katey, and ALL of the other wonderful kids out there fighting this ugly monster.

Will update more tomorrow - keep on signing!

Hi-

It looks like the lymph node has gone down substantially, and Logan is feeling fine, so I don't think this is anything to worry about. We will talk to Dr. Tomlinson tomorrow, and see what she thinks.

We are so blessed to have a doctor and friend like Alison Simpson. She is without a doubt a gift from God, and she and her staff have made this so comfortable. I made a after hours phone call to her last night, and she was as always wonderful! Working for a physician myself, I know what a nightmare those after hours calls can be, and she is so wonderful about it. If you read this Alison, THANK YOU!!! We love you and appreciate ALL you do!

Hope everyone is doing good! Thanks for visiting Logan's site!

Those of you who visit the guestbook and don't sign in, I know who you are... :) Let us know you were here! It means more than you know!!!

Happy Monday!

We all made it through another lovely Monday! Once again, not a whole lot going on today, we wish there were more days to a weekend. We kinda like those Saturday's...

Logan has the best "Angel" here on earth! Angel Angela has once again made Logan's day. Today when he got the mail, there was a HUGE box for him, and it was FULL of goodies, and he just thought he was king for the day!

Other than that, not a whole lot going on here. Make sure and check out the photo album, and see Logan's banner! Much love to you all!

This time change thing always messes me up. Just about the time I get used to it, it goes and changes again. I guess we might as well get used to it, huh?

Logan once again had a very good day. He spent the morning watching cartoons, and eating, eating, eating. I think we just might have put on weight when we go in for chemo this week. After lunch, we got to go to our friend Aaron house, and we got to fish! Logan thought this was pretty cool, especially when the other kids caught fish! He and Cami spent most of the time with their hands in the minnow cooler. At one point he even had one in his shirt pocket, and didn't quite know what to think about it. After he had been fishing for a while, he got to go to the catfish tank, and feed the catfish. That was pretty cool for him, and it took be back quite a few years when my grandfather, "Poppy" used to take me to his farm, and he, Grannie, and I would go fishing. I miss those times, and I think he would have been so proud to watch Logan try and fish. Sometimes I wish he was still here, so he and Logan could feed the baby calves, and go fishing. They would be pals I'm sure.

It has been a nice weekend, and we are trying to prepare for another busy week. Hope you all are well, love to you all!

Oh what a beautiful day! Can the weather get any more wonderful? We have had such a great day, and gotten so much done! Dad wasn't around much today, so Logan and mom got the house spic and span clean, and we've already started dinner! Ok, so maybe Logan didn't REALLY clean the house, but he sure had fun "helping"...

He has gotten to play outside with Murphy several times today, and as of now, still no napping! He thinks life could get no better! I don't think there is an inch of sidewalk left uncovered by sidewalk chalk! Thank goodness for waterhoses!

Well, I guess that's about it for us. Keep signing the guestbook!

TGIF!
We are so glad that the weekend is finally here! IT has been a long, but very good week. Logan has had alot of fun but I think we are ready for some time at home. He got to play outside with dad and Murphy for a while tonight, and to top it off, he got to go to Wendy's and get a Kids Meal! What more could a kid ask for?

Today I got a call from my friend, Tracy, from the local radio station. To make a long story short, many thanks to Angel, Tracy, and Sgt. Haught, Logan has been chosen to be the beneficiary of a Police Department fundraiser. We are so honored, and will post more details when we know them. God is so good to us! We are so very lucky to live in such a caring community.

I guess that's all for tonight! Much love to you all!

Happy Weekend - Don't Forget to turn your clocks tomorrow night!

It's almost FRIDAY!!!

It's been a slow day for Logan. Not a whole lot happening in his little world today, and we like it that way! He got an early Easter basket from "Aunt Amy", and it was a bug catcher! We got to come home and catch flies! How much fun could a kid possibly have? Now he's sitting at the coffee table eating LOTS of candy! Remind me to thank you for that later, Amy!

I think we might go BACK outside now while it's not hot, and play ball or something! Love to you all!

One more chemo treatment down! Logan did very well today at chemo today, and actually couldn't get weighed fast enough. He is inching ounce by ounce slowly towards 40 lbs, still 10 lbs short of starting weight. The good news is that he's not losing weight, which means he will explode with weight gain after chemo is over. We may start having to shop at the Men's Big and Tall Store by the time he is 5 years old!

Logan got to pick out his birthday theme for this year, and it looks like The Incredible Hulk won. All I can say is that at least the purple and green colors are pretty... I never thought I'd see a day where he'd choose anything over SpongeBob Squarepants!

Hope all if you are doing well. Please be sure and keep Peyton and Weston in your prayers as they both are being hospitalized this week at Children's. Also remember Katey, Elisha, Megan, and Sam as well. These are amazing kids!

Have a great night!

Wally, Marcie, and Logan

I guess no news is good news! Once again, not a whole lot going on here, and we like it that way. We will go to chemo tomorrow, and Logan can hardly wait! I think he secretly has a crush on Lesley, his play therapist. Shhh, don't tell Peyton!

Please continue to keep Logan's friends Peyton (www.caringbridge.org/tx/peytonwhite), and Weston (www.caringbridge.org/tx/weston) in your prayers. These are two awesome kids, and God has magnificent plans in store for these kiddo's. I don't know websites, but please also remember Elisha, and Megan as well. These are kids that we have had the honor of meeting, and they have sure made an impact on our lives.

I've said it before, but I just feel the need to say it again. Please don't wait for God to get your attention before you get your priorities straight. If you have kids, stop what you are doing right now, and go hug and kiss them, and tell them how much they mean to you. If you don't have kids, call SOMEBODY and tell them they are important to you. You may be the only person telling them that. There are many, many parents who will not be able to tuck their kids in to bed tonight. Don't let a day go by without telling somebody that you love them. It matters more than you may think, and you just might not get another chance.

Thanks to all of you who are keeping us in your prayers. You are definately our lifelines!

For a Monday, it was a good day. We feel like we have had no rest because of a busy weekend, but what a good weekend! Not just a whole lot is going on here, and we think we'll just keep it that way. We have learned to treasure the slow times, because they seldom occur.

Logan got to spend the day out of the house at his Nana Mary's house. I heard a rumor that he was lathered in sun screen, and helped Papa mow the yard on the riding lawn mower. I'm sure that took a whole lot of convincing...

Thanks so much for all of your love and support!

What an experience today has been. Wally and I are so overwhelmed at the generousity of everybody. It would take me all night, and 50 pages to list everybody worthy of mentioning. We saw so many people today, that were unexpected, and had a great time visiting. Wally and I felt like this was one big party. The total of today is definately unbelievable, and there simply are no words to describe our gratitiude. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!
We look forward to this week, and if you can't reach us on the phone, or your e-mails, it's because we are writing much deserved thank you notes night and day! Hope all of you are doing well, love to you all!

Hi-
What a great day! We stayed at my office most of the day accepting donations for tomorrows sidewalk sale. I had no idea so many people would show up! It was amazing! We are so lucky to live in a place where people are so open to God's calling. I think tomorrow will be a really good day, and Wally and I are really looking forward to it. There are so many great things that have been dropped off!
After we finished (or attempted to finish) we went to Stephenville to see Nana and Chief. We also got to see my grandmother (Grannie), and a long time family friend, Nona. Logan just fell in love with Nona, but decided her name should be Julie instead. He had a great time showing off and entertaining.
Hopa all is well - love to you all!

Friday, March 26, 2004 8:23 PM CST

When it rains it pours! The good part about today is that it's Friday! We are looking forward to a fun weekend, and boy do we need it!

Logan has had a good day. He is such a tough little guy, and I am so proud of him. Wally and I laugh often about how much energy he has. We are so thankful for his upbeat personality. It sure has helped us, and we aren't even the ones who are "sick".

Daddy (Wally) had a pretty bad wreck this afternoon while hauling a load of steel for work. Thank the Lord he and the other car are both fine. He was so extremely lucky to have made it through as safe as he did.

The benefit sidewalk sale is on Sunday, and it looks like it is going to be a fun day! We are looking forward to seeing everybody, and if you're in the area, we'd love to see you!

Have a great weekend!
Marcie

Happy almost Friday!
We have had a great day, and everyone is feeling good. Logan is definately losing some hair, but actually it's kinda cute! I noticed it right away when I came home from work this afternoon. He has played outside with dad ever since I got home, and now they have gone for a ride.

We received great news today! Logan has been approved for Make-A-Wish! We are very excited that he has been awarded this wonderful opportunity! I don't know what the next step is, but we are all thrilled!

This Benefit Sidewalk Sale has turned into a HUGE event! There are more people than I can even begin to thank, and it hasn't even taken place yet! Those of you who will be in the area, please come by! We would love to see all of you and visit!

I think that's all I have for tonight! Have a great Friday!

Marcie

Happy Wednesday!
Today went well at chemo! When we got there this morning, the Dallas Morning News was there doing a story (for one of their magazine publications) on Lesley, Logan's Play Therapist. Since Logan LOVES Lesley so much, (or we just got lucky) they chose to observe and take pictures of Logan and Lesley! Our big boy is a celebrity!

He had a great time as always with Lesley, and enjoyed himself. After play time, we had to get the port accessed, and then went on our way to the transfusion room to wait for the chemo to drip through IV. About 10 minutes through, Logan started screaming. As it turns out, the needle had somehow come out of the port, and the bandage, and was poking him. I looked down, and there was the needle sitting on the chair. So, back we went to be re-accessed! Logan was not happy...

The best part of the whole day was getting to see Miss Peyton! She was still in the hospital, so we got to go up to her room and play. She had even gotten Logan a really cool construction hot wheel set! They had a really good time playing and hanging out, and Mom and Dad got to spend some time visiting wit Dane and Marni (Peyton's Mom and Dad). She will get to go home tonite, and they are going to get to come to Logan's benefit on Sunday!

While the kids were playing in the play room, I got to meet Elijah's mom and Elijah. Please add Elijah to your prayer list. He is such an adorable little guy, and will put a smile on anybody's face. I also heard news of a pretty sick little boy named Hunter who is also in Children's Hospital. Hunter had to have emergency surgery last night, and as of right now, things aren't looking too good for him. Please lift up that family in your prayers.

Ok, well, I guess I don't have too much more to talk about for tonight. Thanks for all of your continuing support and prayers!

Wally, Marcie, and Logan

Tuesday, March 23, 2004 7:40 PM CST

Happy Tuesday-
Thanks to all of you who have written in and signed Logan's guestbook. God sure has a way of sending people into your lives when you need them most. Yesterday was a hard day, and once again, we made it through.

Mom and Melanie, your words, encouragement, and inspiration mean more to me than you will ever know. The three of us have stood beside each other through many many good times and tears through the years, and I feel so lucky to have both of you in my life. Yuo both have made this process bearable. Thank you both for letting me cry through the phone, and for listening. I love you both!

To the girls at SMSC, I miss you guys! It was so good to hear from all of you, and thank you for your support. Hope to see all of you soon!

Logan has had a pretty good day. He is losing substantial hair, but it doesn't seem to bother him. We have decided not to approach the situation until he brings it up. He kinda thinks it's cool getting to wear a cap whenever he wants. That is one awesome kid. He is what has kept us so strong. We love to hear him laugh. (And he tells some great jokes too!...)

We will go back to chemo tomorrow, and it will be one of the long days. Logan keeps asking when he can go pack to play with Lesly (play therapist), and play in the sandbox. He doesn't seem to mind the minor details like chemo too much. We will have to get labs drawn when we get there, then go to play therapy, then get the chemo. This is the one that has to be administered through and IV drip, so it can take a while. Luckily he gets to pick out a movie, and watch it in his own personal recliner. He doesn't mind a bit!

I guess that's all I have for tonight, hope you all are doing well!

Well we did it!!
Logan finished with radiation this morning, and I have to say that we won't miss the drive ro the process, but will definately miss our new friends. I understand where it's coming from when people say that it scares them to end the treatment. It may sound crazy, and it probably is, but I am not as comfortable as I have been,

I think I had one of the infamous breakdowns this afternoon. I have been hesitant to read other kids' histories in their journals in fear that that would put me in a paranoid state. What I feel is not paranoid, just extreme fear that I haven't felt up until this point. I think what started this whole thing is the hair loss thing. Logan almost overnight started losing hair. I held him this morning, and when I handed him over to Wally, I had a massive amount of his hair on my shirt. It's almost like he had gotten a haircut, and all of the loose hair was still there. It doesn't seem to bother him, but I have to admit it brings many fears to my mind. I just keep thinking "What if all of the problems start now". We have had such a smooth time thus far, and I am so afraid that the hard part starts now. I have read websites where the child goes through treatment with flying colors, then right before they are in the "safe zone", they relapse. I am trying so hard to keep the "cross that bridge when we get there" outlook, but these thoughts just won't leave my mind. I know without a doubt that God will not give us more than we can handle, and I trust entirely in Him, but I as a mother feel so helpness, and I cannot protect him at this point. Please continue to pray for Logan, and his fight with this. I also ask that you keep Wally and I in your prayers. We know that you all are praying for us without being asked, and that has helped tremendously.

I didn't mean for this to be so gloomy, and I apologize for that. Logan is doing great, watching Mickey Mouse on TV. He slept a majority of the way home, so now he has a little energy. He got a graduation certificate and several stickers today when he "graduated" from radiation. We will go back in 5 weeks for one final check-up. We will have the "long" chemo treatment on Wednesday, and then get back to our somewhat regular schedule of once a week.

Hope all of you are doing well- Thanks for listening!

Boy has this weekend gone by fast! We have had so much fun, and done so little. The extent to our weekend was todays trip to Stephenville to see Nana and Chief. We had a good time, and Logan taught Chief how to play baseball, skate, and drive remote control trucks! I took plenty of pictures, and posted some of them in the photo album. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see Uncle Charlie and Kelli, but maybe we'll get to see them sometime soon.

Daddy has had to work all weekend, so we didn't get to spend much time with him, but at least we get to have quality family time in the evening. We are looking forward to finishing up with radiation tomorrow, but at the same time, we will miss all of our new friends. This week we will go to radiation on Monday, chemo on Wednesday, and then the benefit garage sale on Sunday! It's going to be a busy week, but we are looking forward to it.

Thank you all for your gracious friendship and support. Wally and I will never forgot what all of you have done for us. Whether it is a phone call, dropping a card in the mail, or just signing the guestbook, you all are the best. Hope things are well with all of you, we'll check back in with you womorrow!

Happy Saturday!

Logan and I have spent the day together, and dad worked. We had alot of fun, and took some pictures. I have posted them, so be sure and take a look. Logan's cousins, Emily and Raley came over to play this afternoon, and let Aunt Joy and Aunt Jill come with them. The kids got to play with Murphy and had a good time. Logan has managed to destroy his nice, clean room about 4 or 5 times today, and no telling how many game pieces are missing now. All I can say is at least he feels like being a typical three year old. We are so thankful...

I think if it doesn't start raining, Logan may go next door and play with his friends, Chase, Tyler, and Baby Kyli. it is very nice and quiet and should continue to be for at least another hour while the wild beast sleeps. We are hoping to get to go to Stephenville tomorrow and see Logan's Uncle Charlie and Kelli on their way back from Florida. Other than that, it will probably be an un-eventful weekend, as we prepare for our last day of radiation on Monday. Hope all of you are doing well and enjoying the weekend. TGIF!!!
Five down, One to go! We have successfully completed a full week of radiation, and we only have (or is it get?) to go back one more time, and that will be on Monday. I have to say, besides the drive, I think we'll actually miss it. Maybe I should rephrase that and say we will miss the people. Logan has made many, many friends, and quite an impression I do believe. Today he taught one of his nurses how to slam dunk a basketball, and danced for another elderly patient who was having a days worth of radiation. This little lady laughed and cried at the same time, and said that Logan had made her week. We finally got to go back (he gets anxious), and we got to have both Ms. Wendy and Miss Shannon! Logan got a little upset when the anesthesiologist came in (male competition ya know), but then he got over it pretty quickly, and started telling jokes. A new nurse came in the radiology room, and asked Logan, "Are you the one who likes Home Depot Hot Dogs?" Evidently he has made quite an impression. Ms. Wendy loaded us up with stickers, and took out the line for the port so we could have a "cordless weekend"! Our new friend Megan wasn't there when we got there this morning, but when we walked back out to the waiting room for them to start radiation Megan's mom and dad were there, and we go to visit for a while. Megan was not having a good day, and was very angry. She cried alot, and was scared too. Her mom said they were going to cut Megan's hair today when she was sedated. Her hair is beautiful, but health is more important, Please continue to pray for Megan, Peyton, and Weston. The outpouring of generousity has been amazing, and we want you to know how much it is appreciated. Logan's benefit garage sale is coming up, so if you have anything you'd like to get rid of, let me know! We love you all, and thank you so much for checking the site, and signing the guestbook! We read it as a family at least every night, usually more! Hope all of you have a great weekend, and enjoy this beautiful weather!

Can you believe this beautiful weather?
Once again, we started the day off going to radiation. We had to get there quite a bit earlier today, because we had to have the port re-accessed. After a pretty rough night last night, and a call to Children's Hospital Oncologist on call, I took the access out. While getting Logan ready for bed last night, I realized why he had been crying and complaining of hurting. There was blood underneath his bandage, and evidently the needle had come loose, and wasn't steady enough to keep from twisting itself. So, to make a long story a little shorter, I removed the access, and we had it reaccessed this morning.
Logan is really getting used to this whole radiation thing. This morning he couldn't wait to see his nurse, Ms. Wendy! Unfortunately we weren't able to have Ms. Wendy today, but we did get MISS SHANNON!! Never let it be said that Logan doesn't pick the pretty ones. Miss Shannon is about 6' tall, blond, and thin. Very cute according to the men in my house. Logan saw her and took off running arms open to her. Then he proceeded to let her carry him to the radiation room, and flirted the whole way. The only thing he could talk about to all the pretty girls and Dr. Anderson (the anesthesiologist) was how he was going to eat "Home Depot Hot Dogs" when he got through. I think they kinda look forward to seeing Logan, because he always has something to "talk to them about".
We also got to meet "Megan" who is three years old, and has a brain stem tumor. She will do radiation every day for 6 weeks, then chemo for 15 months. Logan really liked her and her mom and dad, and they gave him the "GREAT" idea to ask for a scooter for his birthday. Please keep Megan and her family in your prayers. She is a beautiful little girl, and God has great plans for her.
We have had a not so great afternoon since being home. Logan went outside and walked around with Murphy for about 30 minutes, then came inside. About 15 minutes after coming inside, he started getting pretty sick. We gave him some Phenergan gel (anti-nausea), and he became better instantly. We took a 2 hour nap, and he's doing ok now. He doesn't feel 100%, but that is attributed to his Hemoglobins being so low. We're on the right track now!
Hope all of you are doing well, enjoying this beautiful weather! Hope to see all of you soon!

W, M, L, and M

Wednesday, March 17, 2004 6:14 PM CST

Hi-
Notice the new pictures! We went to both radiation and chemo today, and Logan's Nana went with us. It was a good day, and once again, Logan kept all entertained. We are having kind of a rough evening, and Logan is complaining of hurting for the first time since all of this began. We think it's probably just uncomfortable having the port accessed all week, but we're not positive. One of Logan's nurses, Terri, called this afternoon when we got home, and most of the labs were excellent, but the Hemoglobins were pretty low. She said as long as he isn't acting lethargic or complaining of a headache, then we aren't to the point of discussing transfusions. Keep him in your prayers. We'll go back tomorrow for another dose of radiation, and then we'll be 4 down, 2 to go!
Have a good night!!

W, M, L, and M

Tuesday, March 16, 2004 5:09 PM CST

Hidy!
Two down, Four to go! We made it through yet another day of radiation, and had no problems! I think we have this radiation thing down. We are getting to be old pros at this. Tomorrow we will do both radiation and chemo, so it looks like it could be a long day. Luckily, Logan's Nana is going to go with us, so she can see "A Day in The Life"...
WE came home this afternoon and were able to take a much needed three (yes three) hour nap. We may be up all night now, but boy was it worth it. Wally and I were talking earlier this afternoon, and we think he has more energy now than he did before chemo and radiation. So often we have to remind ourselves that he hs cancer. Praise God that He has been so caring and compassionate to us, and giving us so many good days.
We hope all of you are doing well, and thanks again for all of your thoughts and prayers. They mean so much to Wally and I.

Wally, Marcie, Logan and Murphy

WE MADE IT!!!
Logan had his first round of radiation this morning, and did very well. He slept in mom's lap almost the whole way home, and I think we both enjoyed that. We were about a mile away from home when he started getting sick. Luckily we were just around the corner from our pharmacy, so we were able to go in and get some Phenergan (anti-nausea) gel, and that helped almost immediately. By the time we got home a few minutes later, and got Logan's clothes changed, he felt pretty good, and even ate lunch! Nothing stops that boy from food!
We are going to go back tomorrow morning, and I'm sure we will have the same wonderful results then too. We have truly been blessed with absolutely amazing nurses and staff. Our radiation nurse, Wendy, just makes Logan feel right at home, and she even had cartoons ready and waiting in his room. I think Logan's favorite part of the whole thing is thestickers he gets when he goes home. Today he got an "Incredible Hulk", an "Ernie", and a "Kipper" sticker, and they were all over the car this afternoon. We are definately spoiling him. I guess it's all worth it in the end. Our number one priority is that kids happiness, and right now he's happy! (We might be fighting an uphill battle when all this is over with one spoiled kid..)
OK, I'm gonna stop for now, and see about fixing dinner. We'll update more tomorrow!

Hello-
Just a quick note today, because it has been such a slow day. We are taking it easy today because of the big week we have starting tomorrow. We are to be at Medical City in Dallas tomorrow morning at 8:30 to begin radiation. We are confident that this like all other "procedures" will be smooth and easy. Logan is going to have to be sedated for all of these treatments, so keep him in your prayers. We are to go every day starting tomorrow, and having the last one Saturday morning. WE are expecting to be there for less than an hour total. It is supposedly quick and easy.
Logan continues to do very well, and we are so thankful that God has given us such a bearable experience. It has certainly been a learning adventure for all of this, and we will all walk away from this better people.
We just can't seem to say thank you enough to all of our friends and family who have made this so much easier. Wally and I have learned the true value of friendship, and what it means to have a true relationship with Christ. Although we wouldn't have asked to go through this, we are grateful for the experience, and for the valuable lessons we have learned.
I didn't intend to make this as long as I have, I just get going sometimes, and can't stop. We hope all of you have a wonderful week, and we'll be sure and update tomorrow with details of radiation.

We feel like just any minute we are going to see a big ark and Noah! It has rained, and rained, and rained! At least we aren't going through a drought!
It has been a good day at the Cherry household! Logan decided he needed to try out this whole makeup thing, and topped it off with bright pink nail polish in his face. It was pretty funny after the fact. It's true that toothpaste gets anything off...
The best part of the whole day, was probably the 3 hour nap that all of us took. We don't get to do that very often, and it sure was nice. I could get really spoiled to that.
Not a whole lot going on here today, were about to sit down to some wonderful Pepper Jack Hamburgers fresh off dad's grill. Hope you all have had a good day!

Friday, March 12, 2004 5:52 PM CST

It's FRIDAY!!!
Although it has been a rainy day, it has been a good day! Logan got a Mickey Mouse card from Angela, his new Chemo Angel. I think we are really going to like her. Not only does she live in Florida, she and her husband own a pizza place! How good can it get? Logan thinks we are going to her house to eat pizza. Wonder if he'd know the difference in that and Pizza Hut?!
I'm not going to write a whole lot tonight, it's been a LONG week, but a very, very good week. We are going to stay around the house weekend, and get ready for radiation next week. We know it will be a breeze, and once it's over, it's over!
Hope all of you have a great weekend - we'll talk soon!

Wally, Marcie, and Logan (&Murphy)

Hello all -
Not an eventful day at all. Logan had the chance to play in this beautiful weather once again. If you were to look at that kid, you would have NO idea he has cancer. God has such a funny way of helping us deal with things. One one hand, he is so sick, but on the other hand, he seems happier than ever!
Please keep Peyton in your prayers this week as she goes through chemo in Children's. She is such a trooper, and Dane and Marni could all use your prayers. I also heard news of a pretty sick baby in Stephenville who is at Cook's Hospital in Fort Worth. This baby should could use all of your powerful prayers, and I know from experience that He does still work miracles. Please pray for peace and comfort for this family, as well as God's amazing healing hand be placed on that precious baby.
I also ask that you pray for a friend of mine's daughter, Ashley. Ashley is also at Cook's in Ft. Worth battling a pretty bad case of Leukemia. We all know that there is NOTHING that God can't do, so please lift these guys up to Him, and let Him have complete control.
OK, I think my prayer request list is over for today. Wally and I know that without all of your love and continual support, this would not be as easy is God has made it for us. We were talking last night, and were thinking, "Wonder how life will be when all of this is over?" We both decided that is would pretty much stay the same, except Logan will be even more spoiled than he is now, and we would start to miss all of the doctors! (At least Wally and I would...)
Hope all of you have a happy Friday, we'll check in tomorrow!

Mally, Marcie, Logan and Murphy:)

What a beautiful day! What started out a cool and windy day, ended up being so wonderful! We spent the night in Dallas last night, and started the day off really early. We had to be at Medical City at 7:30 this morning to meet Dr. Munoz and discuss radiation. He is such a Godly man, and definately sent from up above. He has that special "nack" with children, and his list of credentials could go on forever. The people who said he was "the best of the best" were certainly right.

While there, we visited with Dr. Munoz, and then went to the radiology room where Logan was sedated for his CT Scan and "markings". It look less than 10 seconds for Logan to "go under", and it happened while he was talking about his breakfast plans. The whole procedure took less than 20 minutes, and he was brought back to his room before he even started waking up. Luckily he was able to have his port re-accessed while he was asleep, so we didnt have to do it a few hours later for chemo. That was so nice. We will start radiation on Monday, and will do it every day for six days. I feel really positive about the whole thing, and I don't think God could have put us in any better hands.

We went to chemo at Children's when we got through, and it was just as good as last time. Logan got to meet "Leslie" the play therapist, and absolutely loved her. She was very optimistic about Logan, and he entertained her quite a bit I think. He went downstairs without Wally and I, and never batted an eye. We will get to go again next week, and Logan is already looking forward to it.

I think we are going to go play outside for a while, and enjoy the health and beautiful weather God has given us. Hope all of you are doing well.

In Him-

Wally, Marcie, and Logan (and Murphy too)

Please continue to pray for Logan's friend Peyton who will begin her in-stay treatment at Children's tomorrow. She is a tough little girl, and we all know how "The Big Guy Upstairs" listens when we call on Him!

Hi-
Not a whole to say, or a whole lot of time to say it. We are going to head up to Dallas tonite and be ready to be at Medical City for "Radiation Markings" at 7:30 tomorrow morning. Following all of that, we'll head off to chemo, and hopefully come back early. Thank you for all of your prayers, and I'll give the scoop tomorrow!

J.F. Thank you for watching the house and Murphy for us!

It's Monday!

We have had a pretty good Monday, for a Monday... Not a whole lot happening, but around our house, we think that is a good thing. Logan got some stickers and two movies from his great, great, great, great aunt Beth. (I think thats how many great's there are supposed to be.) We have sure had a good time watching them this evening, and already have covered ourselves with stickers.

Like I said, not a whole lot going on around here. Maybe we'll have "fun" news tomorrow. Until then, have a good night!

Wally, Marcie, Logan, and Murphy ( the dog:) )

Sunday, March 7, 2004 5:24 PM CST

It has been such a nice, relaxing weekend. We stayed around the house all weekend, because Logan is still battling a case of bronchitis. Just a runny nose and cough are all that remains, so we hope to be on the road to "recovery".

Logan did get to go to Stephenville today for a couple of hours to see his beloved Nana and Chief. He and Chief went to the "Chicken Store" (Kentucky Fried Chicken) and Logan thought it was ok, even though it wasn't McDonalds. He got a couple of new pair of pj's, and had one of them on before we even left Nana's house. (Thank You Grannie!!)

We are as ready as we'll ever be to start another week. God has truly blessed us with such good health throughout this whole thing, and we are so fortunate. The comment has been made several times that you would never know Logan was "sick" by the way he plays and has fun. He is a little on the thin side, but we are definately working on that. Not too many more Happy Meals and Dr. Pepper's and he will have gained back all of that weight and more.

WE hope all of you have a great week!

What a beautiful Day!

We have had a wonderful day! Logan and dad got to go run errands this morning, then Logan played outside almost ALL afternoon. It has been such a beautiful day, and we got to take full advantage of it.

When Logan and dad got back from running errands this morning, Logan had a surprise waiting for him. He had gotten a huge box full of goodies from Aunt Janet, Uncle Vance, Andy, Kelli, Drew, Cooper, Mike, Melinda, Matthew and Mitchell. When he opened it up to see what was inside, I thought he was going to explode! He got two really cool books, a "Kipper" movie, and a Basketball Play-Doh Island. We got to play with all of it until it got warm enough to go outside. It was so much fun!! (Murphy doesn't care for the taste of Play-Doh...)

We are just enjoying a quiet weekend at home. Not alot else going on here. We hope all of you are having a great spring day. We love you all!

TGIF!

We have ended another great week, and are so ready for a weekend (even if it is spent at home). Logan is having a great time, laughing and playing alot, but knows when he needs to settle down and rest for a while. This afternoon he took about a 3 hour nap, and that seems to be the norm these days. He sure does need his rest, but when he is awake, LOOK OUT!!!

Make-A-Wish was contacted today on Logan's behalf, and we should know a little more in the next few weeks. That is such a neat organization. If you've never read about it, you ought to check it out.

My boss (Dr. Krzeminski) has his parents in town this weekend from New Jersey. Although they have never met Logan, the brought him a new Clifford book, and a new Clifford dog, Cleo, T-Bone, and Mac (all of Clifford's friends). We have played dogs all evening, and Logan really enjoys them. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Krzeminski for your thoughtfulness.

It looks like we will be in Dallas Wednesday morning at 7:30 am to do the preliminary "markings" for radiation. If all goes well, Logan will undergo a week of radiation the following week. He will have to be sedated, so please keep him in your prayers especially then. We know we will be in God's hands, so that gives us peace about the whole thing.

We have been abundantly blessed by all of your gifts, cards, phone calls and prayers. Your support has been amazing, and once again, Wally and I appreciate all that you all have done. Thank you all for carrying us throughout this whole ordeal.

Please keep Logan's friend Peyton in your prayers as well. Peyton is the friend that Logan had the pleasure of meeting in chemo last week. She will be admitted to Children's on the 11th for her weeks worth of chemo. This family has been very good to Wally and I, and we all know how powerful prayer is.

Have a Happy Weekend!

Happy Rainy Day!
For those of you who live nearby, hope you all stayed as dry as possible. We had a tremendous storm there for a little while, but from our view, everything came out fine. Logan has had another great day, very little sickness from yesterdays treatment. He's had a fun day in he house.
WE GOT OUR "KIMO" bear today. Logan's Nana ordered him the cutest bear. His name is "KIMO" and he has a port, just like Logan's! He can take him to chemo, and "Kimo" will get his port accessed too! HE is the cutest little bear, and I think Logan really likes him. He gave Kimo a tour of the house, then told him he could sleep in his bed for a while.
This is going to be a short entry, been a long day. Hope all of you are doing well. As always thanks for signing the guestbook!

Hidy!

Today has been such a long, yet wonderful day. We ended up being at the hospital for chemo for almost 6 hours! That seemed like forever, and you do eventually run out of things to do. We had an echocardiogram (that looked very good), and then we had the Doxyrubicin, which is an IV drip, so that took about 45 minutes. Aside from that, we were waiting the entire time. God has truly blessed me with much more patience that I've EVER had before...

If there's one thing I know for sure, it's that PRAYER WORKS! We've been praying for Logan to have peace and courage when he goes to chemo, and this time he was a brand new kid. His oncologist even made the comment, "it's like night and day". He was no longer afraid to be there, nor have people talking to him. He was such a trooper! He allowed the lab tech to do the finger stick, and then was fascinated to watch the blood drip from his finger. Never shed a tear during port access or removal! Way To Go Logan!
Thank you all for your prayers! It's what has been keeping us going!

We're still not sure exactly when we will be doing radiation. The radiation oncologist is supposed to call me either end of this week, or first part of next to schedule. Keep you fingers crossed!

Thanks to all of you who are signing the guestbook. It means more than you will ever know, and we all get excited when we come home and read the entries. Thank you all for your continual prayers and support. Logan wants to say a special thank you to Uncle Bryan who shaved his head to look like Logan. He thinks that is just way too cool.

Hope you're all having a great week!

I'll write more tomorrow!

Marcie

Hello-
It's been a long day, but it's been another day of smiles and laughter. Sitting here it hits me how incredibly lucky we truly are. As you read this, take a moment and think about how God has blessed you, then thank Him for it. There are parents out there who won't get to tuck their kids in to bed tonight, and I know that Wally and I are so incredible blessed. This has been a learning experience to say the least, but more than that, it has been a growing experience. We have learned to never, ever take anything for granted. So, saying that, take a few minutes tonight, and truly express your gratitude to Him.
Logan has had a good day once again. The chemo and bronchitis must be having some kind of effect on him, because he has been sleeping until 10:30 every morning. He may not like it too well when he can't be a little lazybones anymore. He is a happy guy, and by listening to him, you wouldn't know there was a thing in the world with him. Such an awesome kid.
We do go to chemo tomorrow, so keep us in your prayers. Logan is just terrified to step foot in the clinic, so please continue to pray for peace for him. Unless they decide not to do the treatment because of the bronchitis, this will be our 4th dose. We are also supposed to get an echocardiogram to prepare for radiation possibly as soon as next week. After all of that tomorrow, we will go to Play Therapy for the first time. So, needless to say it will be a long day, but a productive day.
Have a good one!

Monday, March 1, 2004 6:14 PM CST

Hello all!
We all made it through moms first day back at work. Not that anybody thought we wouldn't, but... It was much easier than I thought, and it was actually nice for everybody to get back in the old routine as much as possible. The medicine that Logan was put on yesterday is doing wonders. He is better today, and even conned his grandmother into letting him play outside this afternoon. I think that rather than making him drowsy, it wires him. He was literally jumping on the bed last night at 11:30pm. Not a good idea, but how can you discipline that when you've prayed for him to have energy?!?
We found out today that we are getting a "Kimo Bear"! YEA!! This is a bear designed especially for cancer kids who are facing chemotherapy. THe bear has a port to be accessed and everything. Thanks to Nana for ordering that. Maybe it will help lessen the fear a little.
Not much else going on around here. Another day behind our belt, and once again we have been blessed with smiles and laughter. Hope everybody is having a good week, "talk" to you all tomorrow.

Marcie

Special thanks to Mike and Kaye (and grandson) for the special gift. You guys are the best. We love you!

Sunday, February 29, 2004 1:58 AM CST

Good Morning-
Please bear with the out of order journal entries. I am trying to go back and enter the "first days", unfortunately, I can't change the order.
It is 2:05am, and Logan is awake. He is coughing pretty badly, and having a hard time sleeping. So, we recently found out that there are actually pretty good cartoons on at this hour. I am so limited to what I feel comfortable giving him. My biggest fear is that he has come down with pneumonia because he never did lose the cough after surgery. Please continue to keep him in your prayers.
I will probably go back and write more later on this afternoon when more has happened.
Have a great Day!
Marcie

Well, as "luck" would have it, we've had an interesting day. The more mom and dad thought about it, the more concerned we became about Logan's progressive cough. After talking to a couple of people, I called Alison (for those of you haven't read past journal entries, Alison is Dr. Alison Simpson, Logan's Pediatrician) and she ordered a chest x-ray. Logan was absolutely horrified at the thought of going to the hospital, even when we told him that we were just going to take pictures of his insides. By the time we got home, Alison had already gone to the hospital and read his films. She said they were normal (whew!) and there wasn't any pneumonia. She called in a Rx, and then came the hard part. Getting him to take it...
My parents had come for the afternoon, and got to witness the whole shebang. Logan forces himself to throw up the medicine, so it is quite fun! We even tried to hide it in ice cream, and chase it with Sprite! Finally we realized that Logan would do anything for chocolate milk, and we were desperate! So, I hid his grape flavored medicine in that chocolate milk, and HE DRANK THE WHOLE GLASS!!!
So, if you are a desperate parent, hide anything in chocolate milk! It worked for us!
I'll check back in later!
Keep signing the Guestbook!

Hugs!
Marcie

SURGERY DAY!
We know that we'll "get" to have surgery today. In a way, we are ready, but there is always that terrible fear anytime anyone goes in to surgery, especially your child. We are estimating about a 4 hour surgery. They call at about 9:30, and they have been able to bump up our case, so it should be about 10:00 when we go down. Sure enough, right on time, we go down. Logan was understandibly scared, and clings to Wally. Dr. Hicks comes in and says "HI", and then we sign consents with a pre-op nurse. As it turns out, she had heart surgery there when she was 3. We really like her. Then we meet the wonderful Dr. Ballow (SP) our anesthesiologist. She is incredible. She is so informative, and calms so many fears. She has decided not to go with an epidural as we initially thought, but with standard anesthesia. I guess Logan really doesn't want to "go under". It takes her going back and giving him more sedation 5 times for him to fall asleep. We were tearfully getting on the elevator at exactly 11:00am prepared for the long wait ahead.

Tuesday, Feb. 10th 2004

Today is supposed to be "Surgery Day". This is indeed, a Wilms Tumor, and more than likely, his entire right kidney will be removed. Logan will not be allowed to have anything to eat or drink, due to surgery. So many people have called already, and we've already had visitors! Logan has been running a fever all week, and at about 10:30 he spiked a 104.3 fever, and our wonderful surgeon, Dr. Hicks, is talking to our awesome Oncologist, Dr. Tomlinson about the possiblity of postponing surgery, because of risk of infecton. Logan is begging for a Dr. Pepper, and willdo anything for one. It's about 2:30 before we decided that we will in fact reschedule surgery until tomorrow. Dr. Hicks has already reserved a space in the OR for about 11:00 am. Logan finally got a Dr. Pepper, and that solved all of his problems as far as he was concerned. He ate a cheeseburger, drank his DP, and life was "good".
END OF DAY 2

Monday, February 9, 2004

I am going back and writing this in retrospect. Forgive me if details aren't 100%, but I'll do my best.

Day 1
Logan has been having trouble with nausea and vomiting all weekend, and didn't sleep much last night due to complaints of back pain. When talking to him, he mentions lower right quadron pain, so I guess it must be appendicitis. He has all the symptoms. It's probably nothing, but better safe than sorry.
Logan and I got up this morning and I decided to just take him to work with me, and call Alison's (Dr. Simpson) office and ask Jackie to make us an appointment. When I talked to her, she agreed that it was something that needed to be checked out, so we made an appointment for later this morning.
We get to Alison's office, and they do the usual vitals and stuff like that and put us in a room. Then Brenda Williams (Alison's Nurse Practitioner) came is and started the exam. We were discussing chief complaints, medical history, etc., when Alison walks in. Wally had come, and she was showing him where we were. Alison comes and starts talking to us, and takes over the exam. She felt the "Hard mass" on Logan's right side, and agrees with me that it wasn't there exactly a month ago when we were in her office for constipation. She's not really sure, (or just not saying) what's going on, so at that point she sends us to Lake Granbury Medical Center for an Ultrasound and Labwork. She has already talked to the radiologist, Dr. Rick Wright, and he is ready for us, and they are expecting us.
I then went to my office because we are located right across the street from the hospital, and one of our nurses, and my good friend, Amy offered to go with me. Thank the Lord she did. We were asked to go do lab work first, and that was absolutely horrible. The lab techs at the hospital are great, but evidently Logn is blessed with his mothers rolling veins. It took 4 times, and 3 different people to draw his blood. After that was over and done, we proceeded to radiology. It took about 20 minutes to get back into the Ultrasound room, but we finally did. You know, it is against the rules for them to tell you what they see, but 99% of the time, they'll tell you "off the record" what they see. This time they wouldn't. I had a sick feeling.
I knew we were supposed to wait for films to take back to Alison's office, so we went back out to the waiting room to wait. God knew I needed somebody to talk to (Amy had been called back to the office), so He sent one of our favorite patients from my office who happens to work in Radiology, Joann Pham. She is such a sweet, sweet woman, and made me feel so calm again. If I had only known that the rest of our lives were about to be rocked...
We got to Alison's office, and although there was a full waiting room of people, we were put back immediately. We walked back to a room in the back, and Alison was in the hall on the phone. I knew by the look on her face, something was wrong. She comes into the room, with a very solemn look on her face, and I said "I can tell by the look on your face, that something is wrong. Just tell me." She looks at me and with tears in her eyes, says "It's a tumor on his right kidney. It's 99% positive that it's going to be a "Wilms Tumor" I heard the wrods she was saying, but never did I think it could be this bad. I finally figured out how to come up with the words to say, "IS it life-threatning?" She says "I'm so sorry, Yes" I have made arrangements, and I already have him a bed at Children's Medical Center of Dallas, and I'm waiting for the Surgeon, and the Oncologist to call me back. We decided that I was going to my office, and wait for her to call with arrangements. She did not want me going home alone. I do not remember getting to my office. I heard later that I walked in the door with Logan, put him in the lobby with cartoon, and walked back to the nurses station out of Logan's sight, and completely lost it. All I could get out of my mouth was, "It's a tumor". (It had been diagnosed at that time as a 13cm tumor.) Amy asked if I had called Wally, and she got him on the phone, and told him to get there immediately. Kaci (another girl at the office) went to McDonald's to get a Happy Meal, and then I remembered that I needed to call my parents. They were on their way to Austin for a conference, and I promised her I'd call. I dialed the number, and when she answered, I just very calmly, said, "I think you may want to turn around and head back this way. It's a tumor, and were being admitted to Children's in Dallas". At that point, she lost it, and said something about "I can't believe that baby has cancer". That was the first minute I even considered the wrod cancer. It never crossed my mind. She was so upset, she turned the phone over to my "step" dad, Jimmy. We talked about details, then hung up the phone.
We talked to Alison, then made arrangements to go home, get clothes, and head to Dallas.
We got admitted to Childrens, and got a room. The plan was to get lab work done again, then have the CT done. It ended up being about 11:30pm before we could do the CT (an NG tube ended up having to be placed) and even before the small amount of anesthesia could be administered, Logan fell asleep, and slept through the whole thing. That was the end of a very long DAY 1.

Saturday, February 28, 2004 2:44 PM CST

Hidy!
Today has been a very good day in the Cherry household. Mom got to go see "Passions of Christ" (I recommend it to everybody!) with a girlfriend, and Dad and Logan went to Burger King. What a trade off!
It was kinda cold today, but Logan got to play outside for a while, and drive his truck. He really enjoys that. We can't wait for warm weather when we can play outside with Murphy (the dog) ALL DAY!
Logan still has the cold, but it's not slowing him down!. He doesn't see any reason that he shouldn't be able to go 90 to nothing all day long. As long as he feels like it, we're going to let him.
Thanks again to all of you who have checked in and signed the guestbook. We like to check it AT LEAST 10 times a day, and Logan likes hearing all of the notes you have written him.
We'll write more later, have a great day!

Hello all!
I think I might have figured out how to do this website thing. I never knew I knew so little about so much! Logan has had a good day so far (he slept until almost 10:00 this morning), and we'll see what today holds. I want to take a minute and thank some of the people who have been so sweet to all of us these last few weeks.

Nana and Chief- you are and always have been a Godsend! You'll never know how much you meant to us by staying that week in the hospital. Your support is unbelievable!

Aunt Mel- thanks goes to you for being the "coordinator". All kidding aside, you were so much help by keeping everybody updated.

Grannie and Cindy- It was so nice having your support then, and now. Thank you for staying the week of the hospital stay.

Nana and Papa - Thank you for ALL that you have done...

Michael and Shari- Where do I start? I don't have room to list all you've done. You guys are the best friends we could ever ask for!

Mike and Kaye- Once again, you are so sweet! You two kept us fed (very well), and were so much of an inspiration.

Dr. K. and Angel - I cry in writing this. I am so incredibly lucky to have you as bosses, and more importantly, friends. Your generousity is overwhelming. We can never thank you enough.

Tony Smith and Rockin' S Construction - Once again, your incredible generousity has blessed us over and over. We could never imagine having better bosses or friends.

Amy and Susie - We LOVE Murphy! You two are the best! Where would I be without you?

Dr. Alison Simpson and staff - Oh my goodness... We owe you more than you will ever know. Without you and your amazing intelligence, I am afraid to know where we would be. Not only are you an incredible physician, you are a dear, dear friend. It meant more than you will ever know to have you at our side in the recovery room. I can't say enough...

There are many, many more people to thank, but I think I'd run out of room. You know who you are, and you have blessed our lives in more ways than one by being a part of our lives. Your phone calls, cards, and visits are what has kept us going this far. We just can't say thank you enough.

Thursday, February 26, 2004 7:14 PM CST

We have just completed our 3rd round of chemo today, and found out that we will have to do radiation. Looks like we'll do it week after next. Think Logan probably has a cold or something, but Dr. Tomlinson said its ok to do todays treatment because it's only the Vancristine. We are so fortunate that we have not had any severe side effects so far.

I cannot say enough how much we love all of our friends and family. You have all been great, and we don't know what we would do without you. God has truly blessed us by putting you all in our lives.

I think that's all I have for now. I'll try and update at least every other day!
