Happy Birthday Haley. We love and miss you every single day. You are a very special niece, just like your sister Hanna. Please watch over your mom, dad and sister as they continue their journey here. Waiting for the day when we all will get to see you again. Looking forward to seeing that smile of yours. We love you very much and miss you more than words can say.

Thanks for continuing to update. I followed this page regularly when Haley was sick and it still brings tears to my eyes. You all fought so hard. I can't imagine a better example of a mother's love than yours. Take care.

Hey Patti,

I know us girls have been talking about whether we are doing the baskets again this year. While we've all gone and lived our own different lives this year, I think we'd all still love to get together and do the baskets. Its become a tradition and we would love to all get together again. At least for me, I think its a great idea, even if its just on a smaller scale.Let me know if you need any help.

Love always,
Mer

Hi,
Just signing in to let you know I read your update. I hope the Easter baskets work out! They would make kids smile. And, their parents, too. They might NOT have time to shop if their child is in the hospital over Easter.

Dear Mathis Family, I haven't been to your site in quite some time now. We've never met, I found out about Haley years ago from another friend's site, checked it out and followed your story for years. Today, I was on another caringbridge site and thought of Haley and her amazing family. I really appreciate that you still update your page every so often. After following your story, I feel as though I know your family, and it's really nice hearing all the things you are doing to keep Haley's memory alive, and also to hear how Hanna has grown and all the things she's into now. Thank you for continueing the updates.

DEAR MR. HALLMARK

—Author Unknown

I am writing to you from heaven,

And though it must appear

A rather strange idea,

I see everything from here.

I just popped in to visit

Your stores to find a card--

A card of love for my mother,

As this day for her is hard.

There must be some mistake, I thought,

Every card you could imagine,

Except I could not find a card

From a child who lives in heaven.

She is still a mother too,

No matter where I do reside.

I had to leave, she understands,

But, oh. the tears she's cried.

I thought that as I wrote you,

You would come to know

That though I live in heaven now,

I still love my mother so.

She talks with me, and dreams with me,

We still share our laughter, too.

Memories are our way of speaking now--

Would you see what you could do?

My mother carries me in her heart,

Her tears they cloud her sight.

She writes poems to honor me,

Sometimes far into the night.

She plants flowers in my garden,

There my living memory dwells.

She writes to other grieving parents,

Trying to ease their pain as well.

So you see Mr. Hallmark,

Though I no longer live on earth,

I must find a way to remind her

Of her loving, wondrous worth.

She needs to be honored

And lovingly remembered too,

Just as all the mothers’ children

Still living on earth will do.

Thank you, Mr. Hallmark,

I know you'll do your best.

I have done all I can do now,

So to you I'll leave the rest.

Please find a way to tell her

How much she means to me,

Until I can do it for myself

When she joins me in eternity.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY

Patti,

I don't know if you remember me but I was Tammy's old roommate in college. We lived behind Valentino's pizza and had many fun times together. I was surfing the web and ran across your site. I am very sorry for your loss but wanted to tell you what a wonderful memorial you have set up for your daughter. The words are absolutely beautiful and touching. I felt like I knew Haley all her life even though I never met her. May God bless you and your family for the love you have shown to Haley and all the others you have met along your way.

It seems like yesterday that 2 beautiful spitfires with a great love for softball captured a piece of my heart.

I can't help but believe that Haley's love for children and her compassion were wrapped in each basket that was delivered at Children's.

We were so glad that we were able to help make the baskets, and of course see everyone.

Haley continues to leave her handprint on this earth.

Hey Patti,

Wow, I can't believe Hanna is 14, where, where has the time gone by?

I think of you guys often and I miss sweet Haley too.

These holiday's only seem to make it more difficult for you as you miss your daughter, I watched my mom go through this for many years. And then when we lost her, it was worse for all of us.

Anyhow, I just wanted to come by to let you know I was thinking of you, and remembering your precious Haley. She has left a heart print on us all.

Keep holding on, and I'll keep praying.

Sending lots of love,

Susan & Jordan

What a perfect picture for the holiday. Have been thinking of all of these tuff kids that were in treatment with Sky and wanted the families to know we are still thinking of them. It is so hard to believe it has been this long. Still feels like it was just the other day we were all sitting up in clinic. Hope you have a happy Halloween. Take care.

Hi ~ I have not updated in so long but always drop by to see how you all are doing. I love the picture of Haley and the pumpkin. I have never forgotten your beautiful daughter and I think it is so wonderful you continue to share your family with others. I know it must be so helpful to others who are going through what your family has gone through and it reminds me to love more and never take anything for granted.

She was such a special, special girl. I think that pic of her and the pumpkin on the front is one of my favorites. Every time I see it, I can't help but smile. I come into Angel Hayley's site by accident and seen that she had attended Camp CoHoLo. Our son was born with a severe blood disorder and has been a oncology patient at UNMC since he was 2 weeks old. He has attended CoHoLo for at least 6 years. He and Hayley were probably in the same cabin in 2004 since he will be 15 this Nov. You are in my thoughts and prayers,

I have been thinking about Haley all week. Ali had a game last night(that we froze at in 40 degree weather) and I couldn't help but think that Haley should also be out on the field enjoying playing a game she loved, and the girls should be having a conversation about how the game went.

I know she is so proud of Haley's Helping Hands and what you have done in her memory. 80 baskets! Wow! I can't wait to see all the girls again at the walk in June.

I miss those quiet conversations, the giggle, and her beautiful smile. Can you imagine the fun her and Wyatt would have had?

I'm not sure if I could imagine her riding on a dirt bike with you Hanner, but I know that she is cheering you on and that she is proud of the beautiful, caring young lady that you have become.

Happy Birthday Haley from the crazy lady up north. We love you, miss you and are thinking about you today, tomorrow and always!

Patti, just stopping by with thoughts of Love & Peace. I cannot believe that Haley's 15th birthday is quickly approaching. So unfair. She would be learning to drive. Too many milestones to overcome day in & day out. I pray you feel the love of all who knew Haley - and that maybe, just maybe, some of our love eases some of that pain.

Happy Heavenly Easter Haleygirl! We love you and we miss your bright, beautiful smile.

Patti,
Just stopping by to say hi and I see a new pix of our beautiful Haley! I still say she had the brightest, biggest smile I've ever seen on any one. How you all must miss that. :-( But Patti, you simply amaze me. I know you don't 'feel' strong, but we all see an inner strength in you - carrying on Haley's memory in EVERYTHING you do.

Hi guys!
I haven't seen you in so long, I miss you!
First of all, I would love to help you out with the Easter baskets! Please email me more info on what you need.
Second, I can't believe that Hanna is riding a motorcycle! I visited her website, she looks like a pro! I would love to come and see her race. I am back in school again, but never to busy to talk or get together. Give me a call or send an email! Love, Nurse Kim

Hey Patti/Kevin/Hanna,

It's so wierd that it's been 3 years since the Celebration of Life. We had so much fun that day!! We're really excited to make the easter baskets this year.... hopefully we'll have enough that we can deliver to more than one ward of the hospital... and us girls and hanna should do something on Haley's actual Birthday this year.

We're in school, so talk to you later!

Love,

Just stopping by to see how things are going. I can't even imagine how tough the days must get. Please know we always keep you in our thoughts and prayers. I'll be sending some money for your Easter basket project. That is so awesome. As I have told you before, Molly was in the hospital during Easter and enjoyed getting an Easter basket, so I know the kids that are there now will as well.

Please know I still check in on you often.
Has Comet went through Therapy Dog Training yet?
We got a puppy last spring and I had hopes of making her a therapy dog, but I don't think she is just right, unless the kiddos want pittled on from excitment,ha! Maybe that is something they grow out of?
Please know your family is always in our prayers!
God Bless!

I am glad that you could sign in Hannah's guestbook. I have been thinking about Haley this week. I remember when our Hannah was in treatment the first time, and you brought things to clinic. Your Hanna was so poised and comfortable with the kids. I remember being so impressed.

I am so sorry that you have bad days. There will always be a hole in your heart and an ache in your arms for Haley. I know that there will be those days, and I wish I could make that better for you. Hopefully more sweet memories of Haley will take their place. Haley touched a lot of lives and will not be forgotten. We hope we ARE in clinic when you come by this year. We'd love to chat! Sending you love and prayers
