I can relate to Wednesday's entry. I have been going to UNC for seven years with my neice who has had pulmonary problems with no definite diagnosis. It has been a time of terror and blessings. It teachs you many life lessons. Libby is very beautiful. She is lucky to have such a great Mom and family. Not all the kids we meet in this journey are so lucky. Libby is in my prayers. Hello Miranda and Libby,
Your signature line on your ALL-Kids post caught my attention and I just had to visit. My son Lucas was diagnosed 2 1/2 weeks later than Libby and is following the same protocol. He just started DI#2, and so far (knock on wood) is feeling great. I know this is false hope though, as DI is so rough on them.
Here's hoping Libby weathers the storm and hits LTM without a hitch.

I'm glad you are at home, it isn't very nice being in hospital at this time of year (or any time really). Kayla was in hospital Christmas week too, but got out on Christmas eve, then had to go back in New years day, and got out Wednesday. Hello Princess Libby! I have a Princess too. Her name is Princess Breanna. We discovered that she too had ALL when she was two. And, much like you she got sick in December...December 2, 2000. She did have the flu but, shorthly after she got over the flu. We learned of the Cancer on Dec. 16th. 2000. My Princess has been fighting her battle ever since and now she has had a Stem Cell Transplant and she is doing great! She feels the best she has in years! Honey be strong and you too will be ready to play in no time. Our prayers are with you and your family this holiday! Faith in the Lord! Merry Christmas and a New Year is coming and it will better!

If you have any questions I will happy to try to answer them for you. I know that this tough! We have endured 4 years and I don't see the end of the clinic days insight. I will be truly happy to help you in any way that I can. Ginger

hey Libby! I saw that Cheyenne's dad came by and visited your page. I am glad. You would have loved Cheyenne as she was great young lady and cared about all the caringbridge kids and would send them packages with things she had won at the claw game and such even as she fought her own battle with a brain tumor. Its ok to vent sometimes. You have to. Its hard to understand why our precious children have to go through this. My daughter has been through cancer twice and she is only 13. She was dx. with rhabdomyosarcoma when she was 3 and then Osteosarcoma when she was 10. She is currently in remission. I am so proud to be her Mom. "The Strength of an Egg"

Parents of children with cancer are often referred to or viewed as having "strength like a rock". Albeit flattering it is not quite true. It is more like the strength of an egg. An egg you ask? Yes!
If you'll think about it, you'll see my point.

An egg has a polished, smooth outer appearance, with no cracks or weak spots visible. It seems almost inconceivable that the inside might not be
as smooth or solid.

Most children, at some point, are shown the famous egg trick. An egg set at just the right angle can withstand enormous amounts of pressure and cannot be cracked or broken. Yet the same egg, tapped gently at an even
slightly different angle, will break. The contents, once so neatly concealed, will come spilling out. The no-longer perfect shell will be crushed. It looks so fragile that it seems inconceivable that it ever held any strength.

A rock, on the other hand is solid all the way through. To break it is almost impossible. If you succeed, you will find that there is nothing inside but more rock. It takes a lot more than pure hardness to hold the "HAND OF HOPE".

Parents of children with cancer are not solid all the way through. We hurt, we fear, we cry, we hope. It takes a very careful balancing act to keep the shell from being shattered. "Balancing an egg" while running a household,
going for doctors' visits and hospital stays, keeping the family together, and holding on to the constantly unraveling ties of your sanity can be very tricky indeed!

Occasionally, the angle will be off and the shell will break, shattering hope and the neatly secured appearances of a truly fragile existence. Unlike Humpty Dumpty, though, parents of children with cancer will pick
themselves up and put themselves back together again.

My name is Jenna and I came across your website. I had to have an operation done in May and it couldn't be done here in Canada so my dad and I had to travel to the States. I had my operation done at UNC Hospital in Chaple Hill North Carolina. I loved staying there and I even got to wear Bambi Pjama's! You are in my thoughts and prayers. Libby, you are so brave, and so strong. I love meeting new friends and I will come back again to see how you are doing.
