NOELLE'S PAGE
Welcome to Noelle's Caring Bridge web page. This page is intended to keep family and friends informed about Noelle. On March 23, 2004, life took an unexpected turn. On that terrible evening, after Noelle was admitted to the Goryeb Children's Hospital with severe anemia, we were told that it was almost certain that she had leukemia. But even at that dark moment, Noelle's doctor offered us hope by confidently uttering four simple words "we can treat this." Noelle, at the age of four, was ultimately diagnosed with pre - B Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) on March 26, 2004 and began an over 2 year regimen of chemo on March 29, 2004. Her leukemia is TEL-AML1 positive and she is being treated under CCG 1961-C (RER) . Our discussion of how we discovered that Noelle had leukemia is under the journal entry for March 26, 2004.
As of July 21, 2006, Noelle is done with her treatments. Her treatment included (there were also many blood transfusions, antibiotics, anti-nausea and other medicines not detailed here):
850 days; 24 hospital days; 23 spinal taps under general anesthesia; 5 bone marrow aspirations; 40 injections of vincristine; 145 days of steroids; 4 injections of daunomycin; 6 (painful in the leg muscle) shots of PEG Asparaginase; 3 injections of cytoxan; 24 injections of Ara-C; 1020 pills of 6-MP; 5 injections of methotrexate; 3 injections of doxorubicin; 22 pills of thioguanine; 592 pills of methotrexate; and 724 pills of bactrim.
There are many children and adults awaiting a matched donor for a bone marrow transplant. Please consider becoming a donor Bone Marrow Donation

Journal
Wednesday, October 14, 2009 9:01 AM CDT So we are getting ready for yet another Nike San Francisco marathon. This race raises money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. As in years past, however, the timing of the race coincides with sad news. Our dear friend, and mother to Noelles best friend, succumbed to metastatic melanoma. Even though we miss her terribly, her spirited battle will inspire us for the rest of our lives. Please remember her in your thoughts and prayers.
