Hi Karen,
I'm so sorry to hear about your Aunt. And Heidi, of course, too. Did Heidi coach a swim team in Monticello? Some of our coaches at work were talking about her and were planning to attend her service. Maybe I have Heidi mixed up with someone else, but our sympathies go out to her family. I pray everything goes well with your appointments this week for Alexis, and with Rachel's ENT visit. Have a wonderful Advent season and a calm and peaceful feeling about 2006 approaching and Alexis' end of treatment. We just have to pray and BELIEVE she is completely cured and that 2006 will bring back that "normalcy" of family, friends, school, playing, loving and living life with renewed excitement and joy! God Bless you all.

Happy Halloween!! Have lots of fun trick-or-treating!

Karen and Jeff -
I'm so bad about signing your guestbook but I check on you often and think about you all the time. I know this day holds many emotions and memories for you but I'm so thankful that you've gotten this far without losing your strength and faith. You may feel entirely lost at times but there are many people praying for you. I pray for your friend Heidi's family that they find peace and comfort in the coming days.
Love - Michelle

Hello Caring Bridge Friends,

I know it has been awhile since I have signed pages, I have been very consumed with work and some classes I am taking. Not to mention the never ending Family Loving Chaos. However, this includes is my cry for help! I just learned that a dear friend's son who has ALL has relapsed! He has been in remission and receiving treatment for 2 years and 4 months to the day, when they got the news. As a Cancer Parent this is the worse thing to hear. Every day we try to go along with our daily activities. We believe with all our hearts and Faith that our babies are 1 day closer to hearing the blessed words that they are considered "cured".

This was just a devastating reminder that each day is equally as possible that it could go the other direction! I can't describe the fear I am feeling now for their family as well as our own!

Susie Breuer the mother of *Bryce*, is a remarkable woman and they have a remarkable family! She is the mother of five great boys and an equally wonderful husband. They live just north of Rochester, MN. Bryce is 7 years old now and was diagnosed just before his 5th Birthday.

When we were still new to the Medical World of ALL and I had been asking a lot of questions about our boys and how we can try to keep their lives somewhat normal. With Susie's permission, one of the nurses introduced us when we happened to be there for appointments at the same time. She was great, we spent many hours on the phone comparing notes and supporting each other. On Sierra’s 6 month anniversary of her diagnosis we had a blood and marrow registry drive in Sierra's honor. The Breuers drove all the way from Goodhue to donate and get registered.

We had connected many times when Sierra and Bryce were on the same appointment schedules. And there were a few times when Sierra wasn't doing so well with her appointments and out of no where Susie would arrive armed with cheetos and get Sierra smiling again!! They have had us to their farm to play and as you can imagine the kids had a ball! My heart aches for their family and once again the overwhelming helplessness is taking over! So I did the first thing I could think of and that was to pray!!! And also ask everyone I knew to pray as well.

I know we all have our own things going on but they could use all the well wishes and prayers they can get right now.

Also some of you may know *Chance* He is a very strong young man who had Cancer when he was 3 but overcame it. He now suffers from numerous seizures. Despite his own battles he spends hours going to children’s sites and encouraging them. Not long ago his mother found out she had cancer, and yesterday I found out she earned her Angel Wings. I think it is our time to return some of that strength he as passed on to so many.

This morning when the Lord opened a window to Heaven, he saw me, and he asked:
"My child, what is your greatest wish for today?" I responded:
"Lord, please take care of the person who is reading this message, their family and their special friends. They deserve it, and I love them very much".

The love of God is like the ocean: you can see its beginning, but not its end. And you never want to turn your back on it!

Lots of CB ((((Hugs)))) and ++++Prayers++++ to you and your family!

Sierra’s Mommy *Missy Sierra*

Hi Sterns,
LOVE the new pictures. My eyes were all teary when I got down to Alexis' pic of her getting ready to board the bus! What an awesome day that is for everyone, especially MOM! She'll do great, i'll bet.
I tried emailing you the MAW phone # to call to make reservations for Sunday's Reunion at Camp Snoopy. For some reason it came back "fatal error"....YIKES!!! I hate those! Anyway, once you call them i'm sure you'll get on "the list". You know how hap-hazard it is getting invites to these things. We never get anything from Childrens when they have stuff going on, and maybe 1/2 of the U's. Hmmmm, maybe there's a reason for that....
Anyway, the phone # to call is: 763-571-9474, press 7. Just tell them you want them to call you with info and to RSVP. They'll need Alexis' name and age first, then the siblings names and ages, and parents after that. I hope we'll see you there! It's a really fun time. There'll be a buffet at 11:00, then the kids get wristbands for the rides.
Take care and God Bless all of you!

Karen - your entries wear me out just reading them. They bring me back to the "good old days" when my son (aka the vampire) never slept more than 40 minutes in a row at night. I used to have these old lades come up to me and tell me to "cherish" these days because they go so fast. Now that he is turning 8 in a few months I kind of know what they meant - but back then I am pretty sure I would have sold my soul for a full nights sleep.

Happy Birthday Trevor! - I can hardly believe it has been a year since your mom announced your birth.

Time has flown --- at least for me, since I'm not the one there during the sleepless nights and endless diaper changes, right? :) Hope you guys had a great time at the lake this weekend and that it was at least warm enough to enjoy the water (I'm curious if it's ever warm enough to enjoy the water in Minnesota? Karen,

Sounds like you have had your hands full! We'll be thinking of your friend Heidi. I hope Alexis' liver tests come back good. I agree, I don't like doctors saying they aren't too worried about different things. We as mothers worry about everything!

Karen, regarding the furniture, have you tried Freecycle? It is an online organization where you are allowed to "give away" items that you no longer need or want. You just post it online and the person who wants it will come and get it. Go to www.freecycle.org and see if there is a group in your area!!!!

I'll be praying that the LP on Thursday goes well and everything comes out looking great! We also will say a special prayer for you and your beautiful family - for peace, renewal, joy, comfort, laughter, and a sense of better times ahead. May you rest with each sunset and feel refreshed with hope with each sunrise.

Loved the Valley Fair story! The old wooden roller coaster is so much fun, but I don"t have the stomach for the bigger one.

I know that fear about relapse--I'm almost a year post-transplant for chronic leukemia and going to the clinic only every couple of months. Being there often feels so much more comforting. But know that Alexis is getting rid of the bad cells and her own immune system is getting stronger. And you know her so well. Don't be afraid. Do your best. Jane

Hi Karen!

It worked!! You did it... :o)
Watch out cyber-world! Karen knows source code!!!
It was wonderful talking to you. Just when I think that I'm making this up, I get to talk to someone like you who reminds me that this is real, and who uplifts me into making it another day.
I hope you get to feeling better. I really do!! Oh yeah, and Mark was embarrassed about missing the message. Next time you see him, that will be his tail you see between his legs. :o)

I'm checking in on Alexis and praying she is feeling much better these days! That must be the Spiderman Bailey wouldn't pose with - I even BRIBED her - I told her the boys in her class would be SO impressed if she came back with a pic of her and Spiderman, but she didn't go for it. I hope things have settled down this past week at your house now and you're enjoying this LOVELY spring weather we're having! LOL! TAke care, God BLess!

Hello Alexis,
I am praying that your cough is getting better and that your Omnicef is working...it's a good drug...my little boy had to be on that often because he would get really bad sinus infections (he has allergies).

Are you getting excited that school is nearly done and soon it will be summer? I sure am. I love summertime. We hope to go biking a lot this summer. Do you like to ride your bike?

Rest well sweetie and keep healing!

Hi Karen,
I hope Alexis starts feeling better soon, poor little thing. My kids have had the viral stuff that's going around and have been running temps continually, so maybe Alexis has something buggy like that. I'm sorry to hear about your Aunt Audry, I will add her to my prayer list. Take care and I hope your weekend is a healthier one. God Bless!

Hi everyone,
I'm glad that Alexis' surgery went well and I hope she is feeling much better today. It will be nice to get the sinus problem cleared up. Bailey had that for about a year and finally, post-transplant, when her counts started coming back it cleared up and she has NEVER (knock on wood) been bothered since. I think they need the healthy whites back full strength to kick it out of their system. Hope you all have a great week!

You will be in our thoughts and prayers a little more frequently over the next couple of days....wishing we could be with you :) Tell the doctors to get rid of those nasty sinus bugs so things can get back to "normal" (whatever that may be!!!)

Our goal is to be there by 3pm, no later than 4pm. That way we can explore a little, right? :) I saw Tiffany M. (Jacob's mom) today and we're going to exchange cell phone numbers, too, since they will be there the same time (but not staying at GKTW). It's going to be great!

Dear Alexis,

I'm so glad your Mommie wrote to me so our family could get to know you. Congratualtions on making it to LTM, it's another step closer to being finished! That's kind of cool that you were diagnosed on a holiday and your expected end date is the day after Christmas! I saw your picture and you look like such a sweetie, my little Petra is excited to meet you, she turned 5 in October. Your hair looks lovely. Keep taking all your meds and remember that lots of people are thinking about and praying for you. We'll pray for you too.

Hey, REALLY hoping those antibiotics can do the trick --- we need you all WELL at Disney! I'm so excited it's coming so soon. The kids and I were supposed to make a paper chain today and pull off one chain for every day until we leave. Unfortunately, I just now remembered that ... and it's 10:30 at night here. Looks like we'll have to start the paper chain tomorrow, ha!

What exactly are your dates? Ours (I think) is Feb 20th (arriving?) through Feb 26th (leaving?) So that should leave us five days in between for the parks. What are your plans? Which parks? Karen, sorry to hear the Santa photo did not go well. We gave up on Santa photos years ago. Even as a youngster, my oldest daughter used to freak out. The first two years of her life, *I* am in the photo, too, because that's the only way she would get near him. After that I just gave up.

OK, you're going to have to trust me on this one .... go digital! I understand your angst. I did NOT want to give up my SLR camera. I had a Canon Rebel (a pretty good camera, for an amatuer) and loved it. Loved the control, loved the negatives, loved everything about it. Reluctantly, I went digital "because everybody else was doing it" Instantly, I was hooked and if you take a lot of pictures, you will be too. SOOOOOO much cheaper (no buying film and you only process the pictures you want) and I can upload my photos to my online developer at midnight, sitting here in my pajamas. NO more driving to Wal Mart or Eckerds or wherever. In fact, I loved my digital camera so much that I splurged and bought a much better digital camera recently. Now I have the best of both worlds .... the control of an SLR and the ease and convenience of a digital.

When we MEET YOU IN DISNEY IN JUST TWO MORE MONTHS (can you tell I'm excited?!?!?!) I will show you mine. I swear, you will love one if you get it. OK, enough of that. Hope Alexis is feeling good. You guys have a good weekend.

Hi Alexis,
Just checking in on you! Your new photo with your T-Rex shirt on is so fun! Have you ever listened to any Dr. Jean cd's? She is a retired teacher that does a lot of great things with kids, especially music. You should ask Santa for some of her cd's. Did you know the more you sing and dance, (especially nursery rhymes), the more quickly you will learn to read...that sure sounds like fun. Check out her website for fun things to do. It's www.drjean.com I just spent the entire day with her learning about kindergarten; she is a great teacher!
Have a fun day!

Hi. I accessed your guestbook through Julianna's web site (monster link page). I always look at the MN kids because that's where I live. I wish the best for your daughter. She is in EXCELLENT hands! Don't know who her doctor is at clinic (our's was Dr. Moertel - awesome!) but Linda was our nurse and she is wonderful. Haven't seen those guys since around 5/01, but am sure they are still treating people with great respect and giving excellent care. My son, Brandon Putnam, really liked those people. Good luck! I was so happy to hear Alexis made it out for trick-or-treating. Our kids have so much resilience (fortunately!) Nothing like those midnight runs to ER. I wish Children's was CLOSER to our home, too! Hope her counts are up soon so you can get out and start your xmas shopping. Take care and God Bless you all always.

Hello Alexis!
Your costume is so adorable! I am glad that you made it to ten houses! Wonderful! What was your favorite piece of candy that you got? I am so glad that you were able to go trick-or-treating even though you had been sick the night before...yippee for you! I will pray for your counts to be better on Thursday so that you can go back to school next week. We have a lot of sick kids in our school this year: stomach flu, chicken pox, strep throat, and colds. Yuck! That is not fun! Stay healthy little one!
Love to you and your family!

What a cute little lion! :-) Thanks for sharing your thoughts Karen - as you know I understand them all completely. Benjamin was only three weeks old when Melanie was dx he was (and still is!) such a blessing.

Before you know it Alexis will be done with treatment and you can join us on the OT couch! :-)

Take care,
