Tuesday, August 11, 2009 11:13 AM CDT I still come to Katie's page once in a while to read back through some entries and remember all that we lived through and be thankful for the fact that we still have Katie with us in our lives. I also like to look at the ticker and wonder at how much time has passed since she finished treatment. Was it really so long ago? We have the gift of many days of health and happiness and it gives me a sense of appreciation for all that life brings us.
Katie is now a vibrant loving energetic 9 year old. Both she and Alex are heading to new schools this September. Alex is going into Grade 7 at the local high school and Katie into a Grade 4 Frech program at a new school. Katie struggled with some mean girls in her class last year so we are hopeful that the change of scene will make for a better set of friends.
We have all had a busy year - on the job front it was a somewhat stresful year. At one point after Nortel went into bankrupcy protection it looked like both Scott and I might be out of work with no severance to help us through until we could find work. I left Nortel in March and started a full time job at Nav Canada in April. I am enjoying the work and the people I work with - so it has been a good change for me. Scott is still with Nortel but hopes to get an offer from Ericsson in the next few weeks.
The kids finished school in June and have been travelling and enjoying the summer since. They are currently both away at Camp Trillium - a wonderful camp for falimies affected by childhood cancer.
After the kids come back we have a few weeks of vacation to enjoy some family time before the kids start school. These summers of ours seem to race by faster and faster.
