Welcome to Bailey's Web Page! It has been provided to keep people updated about Bailey and her recovery progress. Bailey was diagnosed with JMML (Juvenile Myelomonocytic Leukemia) in July, 2003, at the age of 5. JMML is a very rare leukemia, accounting for about 1% of all childhood leukemias and is mostly diagnosed in infants and toddlers. At age 5, Bailey was considered old for this type of leukemia. JMML is very difficult to get into remission, and does not stay in remission with chemo and radiation alone. Bone marrow/stem cell transplant is the only hope for a cure. In July, 2003, she was transferred to Fairview University Children's Medical Center for the JMML protocol treatment. I didn't start her page back then because it was a scary time for all of us and I just wasn't up to it. I have found it would have been MUCH easier keeping friends and family informed and getting in touch with others who have children who have been diagnosed with JMML had we created one back then! Our first entry was basically a history of her diagnosis, her treatment, and her progress since her bone marrow transplant on October 21, 2003. Bailey's dad was her donor, a match made in heaven, for sure - we thank you, God!
We have a lot of pictures we took along the way too! Albums full, in fact, but there are only so many we can display on these pages. Praise be to God for our great family and all our wonderful friends who were there through it all with us. Thank you to the National Karate Studio in Ramsey and our family and friends in Bemidji who both organized fundraisers for Bailey. We couldn't have done it without all of you. God truly blessed us over and over again. And the biggest blessing of all was the miracles he provided for us and continues to provide for us through Bailey's recovery.

"PRAY IT FORWARD"

Our mission now is that by continuing Bailey's webpage we can provide hope and encouragement to parents whose children have been diagnosed with JMML and other cancers. Stay strong, stay positive, stay focused on a positive outcome for your child. Remember that you alone are packed full of potential miracles, placed in you by God, who knows you best. Never give up and never give in. Be the strongest advocate you can for your child and never take "no" for an answer. And always remember that even after the darkest of days, and unfortunately, there are many of them throughout this journey, that God's calm and peace will restore you - and you can begin each day renewed with a positive spirit and refocus once again.

"Wait thou only upon God;
for my expectation is from Him."
