Blessings to you all - yes the years fly by - I am no a grandmother of a one year old - how can that be. Riley will do amazing - it is different being a parent of an adult but as you say you will always be a mother as well as a friend. Think of how much less washing there is going to be - I found that to be the amazing thing - one less person and so much less washing - take care - love and prayers

Bowling Green Kentucky will always bring Dale and Carol Miller's name to my heart and mind. Your story has touched my heart and soul. I never hear "that song" without thinking of you. It just happened again yesterday while riding back to the farm from Minneapolis/St. Paul. So today I had to check the Caring Bridge site. Just know you all have touched lives with your story and words and actions. Ten years is a long time but so short with eternities values in view. God bless you all and know that prayers continue on your behalf. In Jesus love, Grandma Shirley in west central Minnesota

A letter from Heaven

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say.
But first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.

I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; Here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and night.

That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through.
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

"It's good to have you back again, you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, They'll be here later on.

I need you here so badly, you are part of my plan.
There is so much that we can do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.

And when you lie in bed at night the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you.... in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years.
Because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.

But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
If I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.

But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is over.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
But together we can do it by taking one day at a time.

It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too;
That as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who is in sorrow and pain;
Then you can say to God at night...."My day was not in vain.

And now I am contented... that my life was worthwhile.
Knowing as I passed along the way I made somebody smile."

So if you meet somebody who is sad and low;
Just lend a hand to pick them up, as on your way you go.

When you're walking down the street and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free.
Remember you're not going.... you're coming here with me.

A Thanksgiving Poem

Dear Father who art in Heaven...
Please join our family on this Thanksgiving day
And bless each one as we sit down to pray
As we remember those who have joined You above
So dearly missed and deeply loved.

Please provide us strength on this Thanksgiving day
Bless us with memories of those faraway...
Please grant patience to family and friends as we grieve
And help us reach out to others who are bereaved.

We give thanks to You on this Thanksgiving day....
For Your presence in our lives each and everyday.
For Your comfort, guidance, and never ending love...
And for taking care of our loved ones...in Heaven above.

As we light this candle on this Thanksgiving day...
And it glows in memory of those in Heaven today....
May their lights always shine down on us and give us light...
And may we feel their presence along with Yours tonight.

May the peace and tranquility of this Thanksgiving day
Be an everlasting light within each of us along the way...
Lets bow our heads and give our Thanks to God above..
For our blessings, whether on earth or in Heaven above...
Amen

Carol, I remember the post that you had to have the c-section and that they knew right away that he had the same condition as Reid. My heart ached with so many others as his life began and my prayers were to God to heal him and keep him close in so many ways. Randon as well as Reid, were loved and continue to be loved by so many, even though many of us on CB, never met your sweet boys, they touched our lives and hearts in ways that only God understands because it's just too hard to explain. Randon was brave and strong and you, Dale, Riley, Reese and Reagan gave him so much love in his short life that it's hard to think that he knew anything other than the love of his family and nurses and doctors and those from afar. Love to you and your family today as always.

Dear Mr. Hallmark, Sir

I am writing to you from heaven,
And though it must appear
A rather strange idea,
I see everything from here.

I just popped in to visit
Your store to find a card -
A card of love for my mom,
As this day for her is hard.

There must be some mistake, I thought,
Every card so filled with worth,
Except I could not find one card
From a child whose not on earth.

She is still my mother, too,
No matter where I reside.
I had to leave, she understands,
But, oh, the tears she's cried.

I thought that as I wrote you,
You would come to know
That though I am no longer there,
I still love my mother so.

I visit with her in her dreams,
And she talks with me all the time,
She wonders if that's really me,
Would you let her know I'm fine?

She's planted many flowers,
Where my living memory grows,
She carries me with her everywhere,
No matter where she goes.

She does so many loving things,
So none will ever forget,
That I once lived and loved on earth,
Now my love she needs to get.

Oh, Mr. Hallmark, sir,
Though I no longer live on earth,
I must find a way to remind her
Of her loving, wondrous worth.

She needs to somehow receive,
My message loud and clear,
The same as other mothers will,
From children who are still there.

Thank you, Mr. Hallmark, sir,
I know you'll do your best.
For you are the one I count upon,
So to you I'll leave the rest.

Please find that way to let her know
No space or time or sea,
Will ever change the loving truth,
That my Mom she'll always be.

AND GOD SAID

I said, "God, I hurt."
And God said, "I know."
I said, "God, I cry a lot."
And God said, "That is why I gave you tears."
I said "God, I am so depressed."
And God said, "That is why I gave you Sunshine."
I said, "God, life is so hard."
And God said, "That is why I gave you loved ones."
I said, "God, my loved one died."
And God said, "So did mine."
I said, "God, it is such a loss."
And God said, "I saw mine nailed to a cross."
I said, "God, but your loved one lives."
And God said, "So does yours."
I said, "God, where are they now?"
And God said, "Mine is on My right and yours will be in the Light."
I said, "God, it hurts."
And God said, "I know."

Carol,

Your honesty and strength helps me when I read your journal. I also enjoy listening to the music you have selected while I work.

Little did I know when I signed your guestbook long ago that said "Grief is neither a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith; it is the price of love" did I know how my life would change and how much I am comforted by those very words also. My husband was diagnosed with cancer July 26, 2010 and passed away December 11, 2010. We have a 16 year old daughter; in reading your journal I can relate to how busy and full your life is with your family!

I can't say that I have always enjoyed following your journey, because so much of this journey has been painful to follow but I have always enjoyed your friendship and regardless of the pain felt in your updates, I have enjoyed and felt blessed to stand in the gap for you. Reading the last several updates, I detect such a peace, the pain is still there, the heartache, but there is a peace. Praise God for the hole that he seems to be filling. Carol,

You and I have never met, but our families attend the same church. I have been following your journey since right after Randon's passing and am amazed at your strength and courage. I am not sure how I would survive if something happened to my son, much less two sons! Thank you so much for continuing to update this site, because I am continuing to follow your family through it. I, too, feel sometimes that even though I try, I am not the best Mom that I could be, so it is nice to hear that someone else has the same struggle. Thanks for the update and hope to get to know you in person one day soon!

Carol, I think your story is the perfect example of how grief is a process. You've done an excellent job of sharing your highs and lows along the way with us all. Although we rarely see each other, I feel like we are close friends and that's what writing does for others. Did you know that Caringbridge will make your site into a book for you when you close it? You will forever have your entries and that will be the rough draft for your book. I would love to be your editor because I love to teach writing! Pat Allen <pallen@cmmoore.com>
Bowling Green, ky - Tuesday, July 20, 2010 11:02 AM CDT
While reading your feelings on the anniversary of your precious sons death, I kept thinking of this scripture - even though you have had to drink from a bitter cup - not once, but twice and then not knowing what all of this will mean for your daugthers - you still dare to HOPE. I appreciate your honesty and your "realness". Here is the verse:
"He shot his arrows deep into my heart. The thought of my suffering and hopelesness is bitter beyond words. I will never forget this awful time, as I grieve over my loss. Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: the unfailing love the Lord never ends! By His mercies we have been kept from complete destruction." Lamentations 3:13, 19-22

This was in a devotional book by Nancy Guthrie - she also lost 2 children to a very rare genetic disorder. I love the prayer she wrote with this scripture : "Lord, how the hurt lingers, making it hard to remember that your love is unfailing and eternal. Remind me of your love - my only source of hope for the future. Make the reality of your faithfulness more vivid than my pain."

I am a complete stranger - another cancer mom (my son was dx at age 4 with a brain tumor), but "stumbled" upon your site while trying to find another child's site. I think you would like Nancy Guthrie's writings - you may already know of her, but her words have been like manna to me at different times. When I realized you had two babies in heaven - I thought of her.

Praying for you tonight,

Hi Carol,
I think about you alot and thought I would check in. Your entry that you posted is beautiful. I want to share it with everyone I know. You put things into perspective and make me realize that everyone has their own story.

You really are an amazing woman with so much strength and courage. I admire you.

I love the sound track and have been listening to it at my desk at work.

Please know that you and your family are in my prayers. Your story has always been heartbreaking for me but when I come to your journal I feel renewed. Your writing is so inspirational.

Take care and God Bless. Your girls are beautiful.

I know how difficult Mother's Day is for those whose child is in Heaven. This poem has been a blessing for me as I hope it will be for you

You can shed tears that he is gone,
Or you can smile because he has lived.
You can close your eyes & pray that he'll come back,
Or you can open your eyes & see all that he's left.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see him,
Or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow & live yesterday,
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember him only that he is gone,
Or you can cherish his memory & let it live on.
You can cry & close your mind, be empty & turn your back,
Or you can do what he'd want:
Smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

Carol, I had no idea that you had lost 2 sweet boys until we became "friends" on Facebook. I remember when Reid was born, however, because Christina Burden Stewart told me about him. I was so sad. I prayed for you but was not sure how to get in touch with you. I can't imagine your pain and the void you must feel. In the past 3 years, we have had 3 friends lose their small infants. As a mom, you feel devastated for them. As a believer, you know God's grace is sufficient but you just can't imagine walking through that sort of trial. I know your sharing about this trial and loss will minister to a lot of people. May God's mercy and strength lavish you.

God's Lent Child
I'll lend you for a little while a child of mine, God said,
For you to love him while he lives, and mourn for when he's dead.
It may be six or seven years, or forty-two or three;
But will you, till I call him back, take good care of him for me?
He'll bring his charms to gladden you, and should his stay be brief,
You'll have the lovely memories as a solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay, since all from earth return;
But there are lessons taught below I want this child to learn.
I've searched the whole world over, for teachers kind and true;
And from the throngs that crowd life's lane I have chosen you...
Now will you give him all your love? Nor think the labor pain?
Nor hate me should the angels call, to take this child back again?
To which the parents did reply...
Dear Lord, Thy will be done.
For all the joys thy child will bring, the risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter him with tenderness,
We'll love him while we may...
for all the love this child will bring,
forever grateful we will stay.
But should the Angels call for him,
much sooner than we've planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes,
and try to understand.

Carol,

So GREAT to hear from you! January is a big month here too -- Jared turned 13 on the 9th. He's counting down the days until he can get his driver's permit. After seeing him drive on Mario Kart, I don't know if I'll ever let him get one!!

I, too, am hoping that 2010 will be the year I figure out what I want to be when I grow up! Do I go back to school? Do I spend more time volunteering? Do I get a "real" job? Right now I feel that I need to just be still and wait -- I know the Lord has something planned for me (and you).

Boy, I wish I had a blog so that Alyssa would have some written memories from her mom -- she doesn't even have a baby book. :(

Love and prayers, Erika

Please know that I am thinking about you all during this holday season. I would like to share this special prayer with you.

Amen

Sounds like a CRAZY time at the Miller home! Yes, insurance is important! I learned that the hard way with the fire. Now, I have my health, life and renter's insurance *may not have much to insure with renter's but at least I have it*. But with faith insurance, need a lot of that to get through it all.

Carol,
Praying for a quick and efficient remodel so you don't have to continue this "character building" situation longer than needed.
Too funny about a good excuse not to host Thanksgiving. My mom has informed me that we are invited to their house this year because they couldn't handle a day at my house. You see, we don't have a working TV (on purpose) and my dad couldn't handle not watching college football (all day long)!!! I guess I don't have to worry about cleaning my house. ;)
Always thinking about you and praying for you.

As normal, your writings are wonderful and sweetly written. My heart aches for you and for all you and your family has endured. Have they determined that the girls have a chance of having it?

Carol,
It was good to "talk" with you. I forgot to tell you that Steel Magnolias is one of my favorite movies of all times. Love it!!!

If you come to Nashville for Christmas shopping, let me know. We can get together for lunch. I would love to see you!

Have a fun Halloween. Alyssa's been counting down the days until she gets to trick-or-treat. It doesn't matter that she has already had a church party, the candy parade at church and her school party. Nothing beats the real thing.

Talk to you soon.

Carol. As Always, your wrting is so eloquant! Those quotes from both movies are so perfect for your update. Your girls are beautiful. all so different but each holds a candle for their own beauty both inside and out. As for your girls in the future, Thank God the future is unknown but genetic testing continues to be on the forefront and they can certainly always choose a gender through fertilty methods to lesson any heart breaking outcomes. If there is any eye rolling may you be the one who is on the rolling side. Unless another has walked a mile or just a block in your shoes, the pain will never be theirs to bare. Sounds like the fall has started out great for you and your crew. Continue to keep you and your family in my thoughts. As always my best to you and your family.

What a precious, heartfelt post. I read the post down below mine and I know you must take comfort in hearing from people like her. I believe God sends us angels.

Your girls are beautiful. I was going to comment on Riley's homecoming pictures on Facebook but I knew if I did I would get 50 emails about other people commenting...she is GORGEOUS! I cannot believe how tall and thin and *model like* she is. And from what I read from others, she is just as beautiful on the inside. All of your precious girls are gifts...as were your boys. You are indeed blessed.

angela <conoil@yahoo.com>
Graham, nc - Friday, October 23, 2009 1:41 PM CDT
I so understand your post. We, too, have a horrible genetic disease in our family that takes our boys from us. My granmother lost two boys as infants, both of my brothers passed away, as well as a cousin.

But there is hope for your girls...I'm proof of that. I'm the first known carrier in our family to have kids. I have two beautiful, healthy girls. Your girls may have to face some difficult decisons but they still can be mothers. i know this..I've walked this path (twice)

There is so much I would love to tell you but it's just too much to type. Email me if you want to. It's ok if you don't but please know...your girls will be ok!!!

I sure hope everyone is ALL better now! Knock on wood, all we have had here is the cold! I look at your beautiful slide show and my heart aches for your family. I am sure the pain is with you everyday. Sending hugs your way.
Any pictures of Riley on court? You have such beautiful children! Take care and hope to see some pictures soon,

Carol,

I've been thinking about you a lot during the past couple of weeks. Our music minister has been diagnosed with leukemia and is in treatment right now. I've been reading his blog and I'm just amazed at how the Lord gives us grace to face whatever comes our way. It also makes me remember that we have no guarantees in this life. We never know what's going to happen tomorrow that will turn our lives upside down.

I can't believe tomorrow is 3 years since Randon passed away. Reid and Randon will always be a reminder to me to hug my own children a little tighter and longer. Thank you for being a wonderful example of Christ's light shining for the world to see. I'm praying for you! I'm still sad that I never got to meet either of your sweet boys.

Love, hope and courage for each day!

Carol,
I've been boycotting facebook because I know that I would spend way too much time on it. I've really been convicted lately about how much time the computer takes of my life.

I know exactly how you feel with no one home. The grocery store was the hardest for me. I didn't have my little girl to talk to and it broke my heart. Sooooooo, guess what I've decided to do this year. I'm watching a 7 month old little girl every morning. I'm loving every minute of it!! She's the sweetest thing and it's wonderful to have someone here with me.

Okay, I saw your mom's post. I didn't know your dad was writing a book. I'm assuming it's about all his world travels. It would be fascinating to read! I agree with your mom that your book would be such an inspiration to so many. Get writing and put me on the list for an autographed copy. :)

Have a great week!!

Remembering Reid! I came to see his precious smile and his beautiful brother's slide show and his sisters. He was a special baby who I don't think I have ever seen a picture of without a happy look on his face and contentment. While I never personally was able to meet Reid. He is a baby who will forever impact my life. I know your heart aches today and everyday but I hope this brings you some comfort. You have brought into this world, five VERY special children. Three girls who touch the world with their lives and actions. Two boys who only were here for a short time but touched more lives than any other person I know with their sweet short but touching lives. They were fighters and gave to you the greatest gift, the gift of being your sons and forever that. They left you too soon to go home to Jesus but their memory lives on. I am unable to donate in Reid's memory at this time but want to tell you that I will be donating my hair to Locks of Love in December or if I can take it, until it is longer than 15 inches. Reid Dale Miller may have had a short life but know that for that time, he was blessed to have you as his momma, the momma who never left his side, his dad who was there just as much and two sisters who loved him without a doubt and understood why their momma couldn't be with them when Reid was so sick and in the hospital.
Through the years, Carol, you have brought to many lives a special being, a special ability to see the world through different eyes. Reading your journals as you fought to help your boys and then your grief along with your family's as you had to say good bye to the boys and how you were surviving gives so much hope to many. I hope you realize how much your boys are loved and remembered. I am a better person because of both of them but not just them but the story you share and the personalities of your daughters who are beautiful on both the inside and out and continue to charm the world with their special ways and bless anyone and everyone lucky enough to know them. I learned that what is important is life is those you love most because of your boys and the journey you and your family had with them and that life is too short to just be there and not living it.
As you go through Memorial Day weekend, I know you will be remembering your sweet Reid as well as your sweet Randon. Know that you are not alone in remembering Reid and Randon and their sweet lives. They are two boys who are special to many and loved and remembered by so many.
I have made a picture for you. Though it's not like the ones I have done in the past but it's the best I can do being I no longer have no laptop and my friend's does not have a photo editor on it and I don't want to add to her computer in fear of a virus or something coming on it. But I hope you like this... It simply shows the love that your son, Reid Dale Miller, has for you as you help him. Praying for you and yours today and that your hearts can be filled with joy and understanding and hope while you ache to have him with you.

Glad to see an update and I have to say Riley is growing up! I remembering following your story in the late 2002, early 2003 and she was just so little then and now look at her. You have a LOT to be proud of, in all three of your girls and your two boys, they lived a short life but touched many.
You said about how things shouldn't be part of this seemingly perfect world God created and with all I have endured, I know what you are saying. I seem like every day it's something new for me when I am trying to just get past what had happened the day before. You do have words of great wisdom, Carol, you may not feel that you do, but you truly do and I truly admire you.

Just checking in on you all! Carol, the girls will stop fighting someday and eventually become best of friends, it just takes time and a give or take here and there and I hope they get there soon. I agree with Riley, the year is flying by, come June, I will have my first of two years of grad school will be done. I can't believe it.
Hope your Freckles is behaving! Sampson had some major surgery yesterday. He decided to eat some non-edible things and had to have emergency surgery to remove them and while they were at it, they tacked his stomach to one side so it won't cause bloat. He was five months yesterday and weighed in at 75lbs.

Glad to see an update and hear what the "R sisters" and you and Dale are up to and am glad to hear about Riley and basketball. I don't know what to say about Reese but she knows she is your baby girl and I think she is comfortable as that. She will always be your baby girl and maybe you all losing Randon has her wanting to be with you all the time to make sure you are okay. I have a feeling as she gets older and her sisters start college and if they have siblings weekend that it will begin to change but for now, she needs you and Dale and you all need her. Hang in there, Carol..
Have fun in DC. I went three years ago about that time and it wasn't too cold but it was good to see my aunt and a friend so that kind of changed it. Stay warm and dress for the weather:)

Dear Carol.. I may have signed before, but I'm not sure. I've been here, and I've prayed. And at some point, you mentioned Ravenwood Country Club, and I'm not sure if you're from the Hermitage TN area or not, but we have a Ravenwood CC there. So.. IF that's your Ravenwood, and Hermitage IS your old stomping grounds, and IF you're on Facebook.. check out the group http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=44422656121&ref=mf . It's "I grew up in Hermitage,TN" and you may know some of the folks in the group. I love Facebook... love, love it. I've connected with some of my classmates from DuPont High (I'm a bit older than you), and folks that I worked with at Opryland, and folks who lived in "The Bonna's", just like me. It's a real spirit-lifter to find old friends... just like the old saying "make new friends, but keep the old.. one is silver and the other is gold".
Praying.. and KNOWING that you will hold your boys again one day... and truly believing that you'll be working in Heaven's nursery, because God will fill that empty place in your arms...

I love, love, love, the Freckles video. How special that was for Reagan and how special for Freckles to have a new home with an amazing family.
ad a great Christmas. Just wish we had one more week vacation!!! Santa was too generous around here. We have a new addition…Freckles. No, I did not need another dog. Long story, but Reagan went to a birthday party where they volunteered at Repets (rescue pets) and fell in love with Freckles. I said absolutely no way. Course I got all the typical promises…I’ll do everything, I’ll take care of him, and you know…give up whatever it takes to have this puppy. She wore her daddy down much more easily. I am so happy for you and your family!

Love the picture, you all look wonderful. Reese didn't want her momma all alone in the ER but gee, she didn't need to do that. I hope Riley is doing okay, I am sure that was a stresser on her to have Reese get hurt but thank the Lord, it was nothing major.
Hope they figure out what is causing the dizziness and high blood pressure soon and that everything works out okay. I am lifting you up in prayers, as always, Carol. I hope it turns out to be nothing.
Enjoy your CHRISTmas with your family, you have all been through your share of rough times and heartbreaking events and I pray that 2009 will be an amazing year for you, the girls and Dale, you all need it.
You inspire many Carol and I am glad that you keep Reid and Randon's memory alive on the webpage and that you continue to share their legencies and what you and your family do to honor them... You're amazing, don't ever forget that.
Love to you and yours...

Miller Family,

It is so hard to believe it has been seven years since sweet Reid came into this world. I remember everyone calling asking people to give blood in his name and praying he would be o.k. Little did anyone know how that little sould would bring so many people together. He did more in his short life than I have done in my entire 38 years. Praying for you and your family...

Carol,
What a great Christmas letter. :) Just think of all the time you could save. Just post a few pictures and your cards are done for the year. I'm temptedto do the same!?! I don't even have a good picture of the kids yet, so you may be getting your card for Valentine's Day.
I'm so glad you and Dale had a wonderful trip. We all need a break sometimes.
I'll be talking to you soon. I've got to spend today catching up with all the Christmas things that I need to do. I got strep throat on Sunday and it has knocked me down all week. One positive about it is that my ankle got a few days of good rest. It hasn't felt this good since Ontober.
Have a great weekend!!

Sounding like me but instead of ADHD, it's work and school and sleep that consume my time. But that all ends next Friday so my ADHD can consume everything:)
Have fun cleaning that den and if you have some spare time to drive up to Dayton, you can come help me clean:) It doesn't look like a bomb went off but it sure needs to be cleaned and I am probably going to start that Tuesday.
Yeah, we lost fall as well. Snow is in the very near future. Possibly, Saturday, tomorrow, so I am excited, I love this time of year.
It sounds like all is well with the girls and that Reagan is improving with recovering.
I think Riley would do great as a political! My best friend's boyfriend used to be the mayor of Dayton and he loved it. I see Riley making a HUGE difference in this world and being someone who makes sure things are done right.
Working world... You sound like me. I wish I could work part time and then be home all the time but that can't happen because once I graduate grad school, this cloud called student loans will hit and um, well, yeah, I will be working for life...
I am really glad to hear you and Dale are going to get a way with each other, you two have endured, handled and survived a great deal of joy and heartache with the birth of Reid, Reese and Randon since then but the heartache of your two precious and very beautiful sons dying. I really hope this trip is one that you are able to enjoy and really connect as a couple. You two are amazing or should I say your family of seven is amazing. Your boys may be waiting for you in Heaven but they continue to touch lives every day....

Would she eat a spinach salad? You can also buy cereal, pasta, and rice that are iron-fortified. Tuna and most other fish is a good source of iron. So are most beans (would she eat chili?). Or maybe trail mix with almonds, cashews, walnutes, sunflower seeds, apricots, raisins, etc.
Good luck!

Hey Carol,
I was just checking in on you since I know this will be a hard week with the anniversary of Randon's passing (not that every week isn't hard too, but you know what I mean hopefully). I know I don't understand grief like you and so many others do, but I sure grieved Randon and Reid's passing, and I grieved so much empathetically as a mom and knowing that it had to hurt beyond belief to lose a child. I don't want to ever know that pain personally. I grieved all weekend the passing of Frieda too, and am hating that we have to say goodbye in this world. I always feel like a little kid during loss, wanting to hold on to all those we love and hold dear but still trusting that God must have a purpose for our losses even though we can't possibly understand what that might be. I do love you my friend and will be praying for you this week and especially tomorrow.

HI Miller Family,

I am sitting in the Homework lab at Western (suppose to be doing my homework--whatever) and I just had inappropriate laughter. I just laughed kind of like when you are in the Hallmark store and you see a funny card and you laugh really loud and everyone looks at you like you are stupid. Yes, that just happened because I read about Reese kissing an ice cream cone for practice for a deserving boyfriend. Oh that is so dang funny. You had better write a book. Confidence for what? The book is your opinion. Who can make you feel good about what you truly feel and who cares? You can write a book and if you don't decide to share it well, you had better, but you don't have to. YOU HAVE ALREADY DONE IT, just organize it.
(tell Bill hello!! :)
Love you!

Hi Carol,
I am sorry that your tractor is missing. Someone has stolen 2 Ohio State Garden Flags (that were zip tied on!) from Zack's headstone. Then on Sunday when I went to visit him, all of the rest of his stuff was thrown all over the ground. It is disheartening! Take care and thanks for the update. The girls are growing so fast!

Hi Carol,

I have been following for awhile but have never before signed the guestbook (sorry!). I participated in Relay for Life in the spring and spent a good portion of the walk thinking about you and your children. I also registered to be a bone marrow donor that month.

The point of this entry is to tell you that I think a book about grief and helping others to heal would be a great idea. You really have a unique story with your boys and the fact that you don't know how this will continue to affect your family in the years to come. If this is something you feel good about doing, I would encourage it.

The girls look lovely as usual. Good luck with all their activities this fall. :)

Carol, Are you feeding Reese fertilizer? haha She has grown soo much. What a precious little girl she is. Riley has turned into a ver pretty young lady. And as for Reagan, she is just as pretty as ever from past pictures. All of the Miller girls are pretty as a picture!! WOW, Riley being interviewed for that magazine is awesome! I know you are so proud of all 5 of your children. Glad to hear the school year is starting out well and glad to hear Riley is off crutches. I am sure it was miserable for her. I think it is great that Riley has found something to do in place of sports for now. Isn't dance jut wonderful for Reese? I have a 6 yr old daughter who has just begun her 4th yr of dance. She absolutely loves it. Take care of yourself. Keep moving forward the best you can. I have heard it takes 6 weeks to break a bad habit but best of luck. Carol,
Your Reese soccer story so reminds me of Alyssa. Just a couple of days ago she came out in a skirt with soccer socks, shin guards and cleats on. She begged Jared to teach her some soccer. It was so cute when he looked at me and said, "Do I have to? She has a skirt on!" Of course, being the good mom I am :) I said, "Absolutely you do." Out they went, embarrassed big brother and my proud little girly girl.

Have a great week!

Beautiful words, Carol, and a wonderful and fitting tribute to Mike. I know he would appreciate your kind words! I too won't forget my last hug from him at Mancino's only two weeks ago. I can't believe he's gone.

Great photo of Reagan in the play, and what a wonderful job she did in one of the lead roles. Great job again, Reagan!! But then again, what don't the Miller Ladies do well?!! What an inspiring bunch of gals you have.

Have a wonderful day, and I'll talk to you soon!

BEAUTIFUL! The tears began as I read and saw how generous everyone was and when the boy's pictures and memorial stones came up. The boy's pictures always cause me to tear up, they were precious and so beautiful. Reid Dale and Randon Speakman Miller will never be forgotten. Carol and Dale, I hope you realize how much each one of your five children touch lives. Reid and Randon continue to live on and the love everyone has for them and for your family is everlasting. Be proud of your three daughters and two sons, they have touched more lives than most do.

Hey, I've missed seeing you Miller clan. Glad to hear that Reagan was up for going to soccer camp! That's a great step in the right direction, and I know the doctors didn't expect such a quick turnaround! Thank goodness for positive surprises! I'm praying for some positive surprises with our little friend,Isaiah! Tell Reese that Sophie got to finally fulfill her dream of being a flower girl this weekend in Katy Behm's wedding, and she LOVED it! She was very meticulous about dropping her flower petals just so and couldn't wait get her hair done and to dance at the reception. We all had a blast!

Take care and we'll be looking for Riley doing all her media interviews! Guess her and I will be vying for media time (ha ha), since Spirits in the Cave is coming up in the near future. I hope the Traditions event brought in good money for ALS over the weekend! Hope to see you all soon!

Miller Family,

We were able to watch Riley on The Today Show and she did such a great job of speaking up and telling her story. I must say tho, that I felt her story was so much more important than the story they actually featured and gave more time too. Oh well, at least she got to be there and had a few moments to share. And many of our extended family watched also - David's mother, sister and aunt were all excited to tell me they saw Riley. As you can tell, I still keep up with ya'll and enjoy your updates.

Great job on National TV, Riley! You never cease to amaze me, and you handled Matt Lauer like you were just chatting with me! You didn't seem a bit nervous or anything. We were scanning the background for the rest of the Miller clan but didn't see you guys. You should have been like "Where's Waldo" in the background somewhere, ha ha! Fabulous job again, and it was a bit weird seeing "one of our own" talking to Matt Lauer. You represented your family and this community (and state) very well. Thank you for being such a wonderful voice! I can't help but think that your brothers were beaming down upon you!

I was very touched by Riley's story on the TODAY show, and after the show I did some research on her brothers and her family. It overwhelmed me with emotion. I have lost a cousin at three days old and my wife had a miscarriage with our first child, so my family has not escaped loss. The loss Riley and her family faced is monumental, but what's even more incredible is how she has channeled that emotion and energy into something so wonderful in honor of her brothers. I now have twin 17-month-olds (Sam and Amelia), and I of course would do anything for them, just as Riley is doing to honor Reid and Randon. I hope when Amelia grows up, she will be strong and loving like Riley. I'm really touched by this story. God Bless Reid, Randon, Riley, and the entire Miller family.

I am so glad Reagan is doing better. I am glad she is getting to be herself again:) I know that brings peace and joy to your heart. Thank God she has no bleeding disorder and got some rest (I hope) in the hospital to help jump start her healing.
I will be watching Riley on the Today Show! I have it on since I stayed with Shari and she watched it. She said she bets Ann Curry is the one who does the interview. I am so proud of you Riley and I hope you realize how many people are proud of you, you are bringing so much awareness to Alex's Lemonade Stand and because of you so many are helping, you rock!
Enough on the Obama/Hillary war, we, as a society need more Riley stories to keep our faith alive and to show society that it is so much better to hear the good, than the bad or the war on the presidency.
Well, I better get going. Keep on getting well Reagan, Congrats again Riley and know you have tons of people in this area who will be watching you:)

I found a penny today
Just laying on the ground
But it's not just a penny
This little coin I've found.

Found pennies come from Heaven
That's what my Grandpa told me,
He said, "Angels toss them down."
Oh, how I loved that story.

He said, "When an angel misses you
They toss a penny down,
Sometimes just to cheer you up
To make a smile out of your frown."

So don't pass by that penny
When you're feeling blue,
It may be a penny from Heaven
That an Angel tossed to you.

An Angel is Watching Over You

We all have angels looking over us,
no matter how young or old we might be.
So the next time you are feeling a little blue,
Maybe a penny you find laying on the ground,
Was tossed down from heaven by an angel,
Just for you . .

May Reid and Randon toss you many pennies

Good Afternoon!

Thinkin' about you up here in the middle of nowhwere and thought I'd stop in and see what's up with you guys.

Miss Riley: Congratulations! Keep up the good work, girlfriend. As we say in wheat country--You are outstanding in your field! ;o)

Miss Reagan: Uh-Oh. I am so sorry you are hitting a couple of speed bumps with having your tonsils out. I had mine done a 3 years of age and my Mr. Wonderful had his done when he was 50 years of age. I am praying for a speedy and well-earned recovery for you, sweet one.

Sending all of you oodles of hugs, praises and prayers.

The Golden Thread

Love is a golden thread
That links us one and all.
We heard it our mother’s voice
Whenever she would call.

We felt it in our father’s touch.
His strength made use secure.
We feel it still in daily life;
It helps us to endure.

This never-ending golden thread
Is love personified.
It banishes all doubt and fear
When we are by God’s side.

For it is His love we’re feeling—
His love for you and me,
All woven in and through out life;
A golden tapestry!

To my dearest Carol,

I'm sitting here with my jaw hanging down! I'm just busting out in so much PRIDE for you precious, precious Riley! I'm just so proud of her!

Carol, who would of thought, how God would use such a tragedy like you and your family has endured to turn so many lives around.

Reid and Randon's short lives have impacted so many, and I'm sitting here with tears running down my face just thinking of it.

Please give your daughter a great big hug from us. If you don't mind, I'll do a little braggin on her soon on my blog. (Let me know if it is OK first!)

I just went to the Prudential site and read about all the other young ladies and men who also used their experiences and passion to help other's out. WOW!!!!

Tell Riley to hold that BEAUTIFUL head up high, she has worked so hard to make such a difference, and she has!

Oh my, I can't wait to see her on TV!! WHAT AN HONOR!!

Man, I better get up there before someone in Hollywood snatches her up!!

Now, poor Reagan, I'm soooo sorry she's not doing well. I'm going to try and find something to comfort her and put it in the mail. (email me Carol and tell me something she likes).

Well, going to let you go, sorry it's taken me so long to finally get over here.

Sending lots of love your way,

Susan

MISSING YOU!!!

PS Love the song you have playing now! I'm going to snatch it!

Remember that everytime you get the chance to talk, you are bringing Alex and her amazing lemonade stands and the work that the money does for childhood cancer to the forefront. We love you(Even if you beat Shelby in track and field events!)

Dear Reagan, I hope you are feeling better soon. I was hoping your surgery would be smooth sailing and that you would bounce back quickly. Keep on healing sweetie and you will get there. I wish that this were easier for you. I am praying continously that you will be feeling better soon. You are strong, don't forget that and keep on healing. Before you know it, you will feel so much better and won't even remember what it was fully like and you will be free from your tonsils giving you grief. You are a fighter and God is going to heal your throat and help you through this. Keep on getting the fluids down.
Riley, I am so proud of you! The Today Show, that's awesome and you DESERVE it! You have done so much for cancer research and you deserve this and it will help spread the word. There is a reason God wanted you to be Reid and Randon's big sister. You have an amazing dedication to Alex's Lemonade Stand and you continue to help bring cancer research one step closer to finding new information.
Congrats to Sloane on her graduation and her acceptance to Vandy. That would be a great school for her. She is going to do well in her studies with as well as she did in studying for high school. Congratulations Sloane and the class of 2008 totally rocks:)
Carol, as normal, I think of you often and think of your two sweet boys. They weren't on earth long but Carol, they touched so many lives and continue to touch lives.

Hi Carol,

I have never met you, but your family is precious to me just the same. When I still lived in BG, my friend Dana Gibbs asked me to pray for Randon. Ever since, I have been keeping up with and praying for your family. Your boys have touched my heart in so many ways. Reid's smile is the sweetest that I have ever seen, and what a little fighter Randon was. It's amazing how these two precious boys that I have never met could get such a hold of my heart and never let go.

I went to the Prudential website and just bawled as I read about Riley. I don't know how you could keep from bursting with pride! I look forward to watching the video when I have more time.

May God continue to richly bless your family!

Blessings,

Dear Carol,
So wonderful to see an update from you. I am with you on sleeping through the earthquake but I have no story to stick to as you do:( I just was tired but my friend and all the dogs woke up with it. Whoops, I guess I just wanted sleep and not to be up with the big dogs and my shrimp. LOL.
I will pray for Reagan as she prepares to have her tonsils and adenoids out. I am sure once they are out, she will feel so much better in so many ways. I mean, if they make you sick and you can, take them out. You will all be in my prayers, especially her, as the date comes.
I can't wait to see the pictures and am so glad you didn't get booed. I am sure you did just fine.
You continue to be in my prayers. You and your family are never far from my prayers. I think people will understand if you have those rough days. God blessed you with sweet Reid and Randon and they left too soon.
You're an inspiration to many, Carol, and I hope you know that. You have much to be proud of and yet, you have your pain. Your story has changed many lives and I can honestly say you have changed people for the better and touched their lives because I am one of them.
Stay strong and know how many love and pray for your family daily.

The Spirit of April
By: Mary E Linton ©

I am the Spirit of April.
Did you not hear me come?
Violets nod in the meadow;
See, I have brought you some.
I opened your gate so gently,
Fearing to make you start;
I bring you a note of gladness
Out of the song in my heart.

Oh wow. Carol, you are so blessed to have such an amazing daughter. Her God has used her brothers to make her wise beyond her years and to see already the impact that she's having on the world for Him and for making a difference in the battle against childhood cancer is so humbling. Thank you so much for sharing this with all of us. It gives such hope for the future and such a sweet glimpse into a life that makes Romans 8:28 come to life. Be blessed today.

You deserve so much more eloquence that I can give to praise you for what a phenomenal job you did. Many will never achieve in a lifetime what you have already accomplished at your tender age of 13. Way to go! I'm so proud of you, and I'm not even your mom! Carol and Dale, you're raising some awesome children! I know that you know that, but I just have to say it again! LOVE THE PICTURES! The one of you and the girls on the beach is awesome! Glad you were able to enjoy the beach and had a good time. Hey, if you want snow, you should move to good old Dayton. We had 19 inches of snow in March! Wow! That blizzard we had the weekend after my surgery made up for most of that but we had a couple snow days. Hope this finds you all well.

The Spirit of April
By: Mary E Linton ©

I am the Spirit of April.
Did you not hear me come?
Violets nod in the meadow;
See, I have brought you some.
I opened your gate so gently,
Fearing to make you start;
I bring you a note of gladness
Out of the song in my heart.

Dear Carol,
Just found you through a friend, Emily's blog. I have spent almost an hour trying to get to know you. You are an amazing woman. I recently (1-14-08) lost my 3rd daughter Mary Grace. She had Trisomy 18 and lived for 7 hours. I am encouraged by your strength but know that this is something that we will never "get over". I am so sorry for the loss of your sons Reid and Randon - they are beautiful baby boys. I will be praying for you and your family. You have a beautiful family. BTW - I live in TX but am from Danville Kentucky, seems like you may be from KY too!
With love and prayers,

Hi Carol,
I should say "I'm sorry" again for anytime I might have uttered that you have so much to be grateful for, because I know that it never wipes away your heartache. I am so sorry for the sad memories that will never go away of the tragic circumstances surrounding Randon's birth. So much I am sorry for and so little of the right words to say. You know that I too thought Randon was God's perfect surprise to somehow give you the little boy that was robbed from you when sweet Reid left us, and I still can't understand how it could happen again. I am so sorry for "getting your hopes up," when I should have been silent. I obviously never knew or understood what God might allow. There are many heartbreaking things in this life that will never make sense. I'm sorry I'm not a better friend to you, but I do love you and care about any emotion you're having, whether it's a "justified" feeling or not...it's still your feelings and they do matter! I'm sorry for anytime I've hurt you, because I surely never meant to and wouldn't for anything in the world.

I hope you have a relaxing time in Frankfort and many more memories to make. I hope to see pictures of Riley and you guys while there.

Much love always,
Robin

I just had the chance to truly read your words about how you felt the day that Randon came into this world and all I want to do is give you a huge hug. I can't even begin to imagine your pain and it pains me to know that there is nothing I can truly do that will help you even begin to be okay. I continue to pray for you all...
I hope the flooding is not hitting you... I heard KY is getting some but not sure if you are all getting it but it's coming down like crazy here in Ohio.
My love to you all

I think one reason men, in general, would ask, "What's wrong?" is that they didn't carry that baby for 9 months and share all of the emotions and communion with that child that a mother experiences even before they are born. And women, in general, are nurturers. When someone we love is no longer there to nuture, we still long to nuture them. They can't be replaced and neither can our desire to nuture and love them. Men can grasp some of this on an intellectual level, but have a much harder time on an emotional level, and that's what we women are all about! It is frustrating that they can't intellectually understand that, but we have to teach them and hope they will acknowledge and accept that. Thanks for sharing your feelings over and over. Many of us don't judge you but nod our heads in understanding. May God give you joy and peace in the midst of your heartache.

Carol-I always love coming to your site because I know you will have something to say to "me" if not to anyone else. After losing Stanton I cannot even begin to imagine going through it a second time. Like you said, it didn't kill me so it has to make me stronger which I don't feel most days. I have learned that the pain will NEVER go away. I just have to find a place to put it so that I can live. I love the comment about Dale asking why you are crying. This is a statement that I hear often from Jeff and sometimes I just look at him like "really?, are you really asking me that?" Just wanted you to know that I still check on you and love your journal entries.

I have tears in my eyes from your update. You have such courage to write those things. I had some similar feelings after I had my son and they told me that he would die before age 1, and similar feelings when I had the c-section and I lay there paralyzed as the doctors and even my husband turned their backs to me and muttered that something was “wrong” with our baby. I shouted out, my arms strapped down, “What’s wrong with him?” but no one would even look at me. And then for you, to go through that and then to face every mother’s worst nightmare…. I hate it when people say they “admire” me or my son is an “inspiration,” so why do I want to say those things to you? So, I won’t, and I’ll just wish you a good week ahead!!! :)

We little knew that morning that God was going to all your name,
In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone,
For part of us went with you, the day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide,
And though we cannot see you, you are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.

Carol,
I have never posted before I guess out of pride or embarrassment but I feel I should let you know how much of an impact your open, honest heart has made on me. Last night though God really told me I needed to thank you and one other family who’s site has spoken to me. Shortly after I had my first daughter I ran across your site, how I don’t really know. That was two and a half years ago. Since that time I have cried and laughed with you and your family. I have prayed for you all and your friends. Thank you for allowing that. I have hugged my daughters longer, found each moment sweeter, and really put my life into perspective as you have shared your journey. May God continue to work in others through you and bless your family. My family’s site is http://tenille.blogplot.com
Have a great day~ Tenille Rauls

Your site was added to the asherandjacobs.com website a few years ago. We offer prayers and support to familys in need. We are now in the process of contacting everyone on the list to get their permission to continue to have your site link on our page. If you could take a few moments and send in the information below we all would love to continue to pray and support your famiy. Thank you, our thoughts and prayers always.

Dear Friends,

Asher and Jacob's Friends is working hard to strengthen the regulations regarding when a link is posted on our site. This is for three reasons (1) to protect the privacy of the family (2) to protect our site from legal issues (3) to take a step towards becoming a foundation. It is very important to us that a family has the choice to have their site posted and we apologize for not taking this step sooner.

We know many of you are facing serious situations at the moment and we apologize for adding yet another burden to your plate. It is our hope you understand that we would not be doing this if it was not necessary. We are asking EVERY family that would like to remain on the site respond to this email by emailing back to Laura: laurainsem@yahoo.com a copy of the registration form completed. We know many of you have been on this site for a while and have made it clear to us you wanted to be added. Right now though, this is not enough. If you never filled out this form, it must be done! Please complete this form by April 8, 2008 otherwise you will be removed.

If you never wanted to be on the list or didn't even know you were on it, I apologize deeply. It was never our intention to hurt you in any way or to take away your right to privacy. This is the reason we are doing this now, as we recognize how out of control the site became. We have always had good intentions but we know good intentions is not enough. Please contact Laura if you would like to discuss this further.

Thank you so much for taking time to do this. Please know our prayers are with all of your families. If there is ever anything you need, please let us know. May God bless all of you as you continue on your journey.

Laura Lynn and all at Asher and Jacob's Friends
As we want to protect all of our families privacy, we have set higher standards for submitting a family to the Friends list. If your family would like to have your site added, please email Laura with the following information:

1. Loved one's first and last name:

2. Birthdate (and day they journeyed to Heaven if applicable):

3. Main Diagnosis:

4. Location:

5. Webpage:

6. Email:

7. Photos in jpg format if you would like it used on this site (only used for site):

8. Your name and your relation to this person(s):

9. Any particular prayer requests you have at this moment:

***Email this information to Laura at: laurainsem@yahoo.com***

None of this information will be used on the site except for the name, website, and photos if applicable. Thank you wanting to be a part of this prayer ministry. We hope that through this site, you will find encouragement, comfort, and support.

**For any families added before these new regulations, please fill this information out as well. If you do not do so prior to April 8, 2008, your site will be removed.**

The roses are beautiful. Uh oh, Dale is going to have his hands full soon as will you:) She's growing up.
I am glad you got home safely! The ice is not fun to drive on. My first time on ice, I hit a police car, he had stopped to check on a car that slid off the road and I was new to snow and ice and thought I would wait to move but nope, my car just tapped into the back of the car. I was like, maybe he won't be in there and I can not get in any trouble. Well, he was but I didn't get a ticket. Then last February. Yeah, that was NOT fun. We had snow yesterday and it hit at 6 and I got out of class at 7. Not fun but I made it. I don't know how I managed it in a van but I did.
Hope you aren't too sore today and that the ice stops and you get some snow. We have a couple inches with about 1/2 inch of ice on top of that. So I am totally staying in.

Carol,
We are going through the "girlfriend issue" but not with Logan the oldest its Landon the youngest. Luckily he doesnt' take it to serious but there are alot of little girls calling here. It's hard for a mother to see their children changing. He really became stressed over Valentine's Day and finally Logan said here and picked out the gift. Landon said it was to much pressure having a girlfriend but then he got over it. Logan is still more concerned with his 4.0 and going to college. Basketball is running us to death but we are loving every minute of it. We haven't won a game yet but at least we are having fun!!!! Mom and dad are ok for the time being. We are still taking day by day. Dad is gearing up for his birhtday party June 15th at the Community center. Well take care. Tell Dale and the girls we say hello from Greensburg.

Hey Carol,
I must reecho what Carol said, "Reagan is precious." I don't ever think I've so readily met a little girl that I could instanteously adopt, but Reagan would be it. She is such a joy, and I just wanted to share that with all of you who check in and restate it again. My twin daughters have found the most precious of friends in Reagan Miller, and I hope that they're friends for a lifetime! To tell you how much Reagan means to them, Sydney chose her 4th grade memoir to be about Reagan. I couldn't read it without shedding a few tears, and her teacher also got all teary-eyed. When the memoir has made it thru all the "revisions", I will be glad to share that with you Carol. I hope it touches you as it did me!

We'll be praying for you while Dale is traveling abroad! I will be praying for Dale's safety (and sanity) as well!

Love you,
Robin

Hey Carol~
Stopping by to say hello! I stop by often, but don't say always say hello (sorry!). I often stop by to put your play list on while I am working on my computer! Thanks for the great music selection!
Always remembering 2 special little miracles named Reid and Randon and always holding your family close!
Thanks for continuing to share your lives with the cyber world...your words make differences!
Sending love~

People like me keep coming to your site to witness your struggle, wondering how we would handle such devastation as you have experienced. I love the Lord, too, and that's why I want to witness your life. It wouldn't be the same if we didn't have Him; there would be absolutely no hope and no chance to reunite with children who have gone on to be with the Lord. Thank you for sharing from the innermost parts of your heart.

Hey Carol,
btw...don't know if anyone mentioned this, as I haven't read all the way down yet, but Rick and Bubba are back on in Nashville on 1510 am in the mornings. Thought you might be able to listen in when you're down here the next time.

Dear Carol (aka "Homeslice"),
Hope you know that I love you with my little nicknames for you and such. I wanted you to know that I went to Rick's website and heard his testimony at his son, Bronner's, funeral. Oh my goodness, what a testimony he had. I was blown away that anyone could stand so strong and be such a bold witness with what his family just endured, the worst thing any parent can go thru. I wonder if his wife Sheri is handling it that well? I hope she doesn't feel at fault in any way, since I don't know the circumstances of his son's drowning, but I will continue praying for this special family. Scotty listened faithfully to Rick and Bubba's show each day when it was still broadcast here locally. He loved their humor! I wonder if Rick will still be as funny (just like your question), or will he be more hastened to share the gospel since his devastating loss?! He may be less funny and more serious now. It was a great testimony too in that he didn't blame God and believed that God only allowed it to happen, and that's how I've always viewed things. God didn't put all the horrible things upon Job either, Satan did it, and God just allowed it, and he reminded us that in this world, we will have trouble. Still, it's so hard to sit and watch you, Rick, and other special people go thru things that they in no way deserve! I feel so helpless and so sad, and it does seem such an injustice. As you said, here's Britany Spears who can't get her life together enough to care for her children, yet beautiful children are losing great parents.

Well, hope you don't mind me calling you "homeslice", and I hope you know that I love you enough to joke with you. Humor is how I sometimes cope, and you're fun to laugh with, but I'm also here to cry with you too. That's what friends are for!!

Love you much,
Robin (aka, "DNF"...you know what I mean)

Thank you so so very much for sharing the Heart of a father story. He is amazing in his faith and complete strength. I can not imagine speaking about such a personal tragic event so calmly and sincerely at such a sensitive time!! What a wonderful man!! You are so wonderful to clue me in and are so right about how blessed we would be to listen in to his tragic story.

Hey Carol.
Your updates are always so touching and so real, and I think that is what I love the most about you-your honesty! Thanks for allowing God to use you and your pain to touch so many lives!

Also, can you please send me the link to that story? I know the morning show you are talking about. I could never get their website to open. How heart-wrenching!

You guys are always in my prayers.

Happy late birthday to the birthday ladies in your life! =)

Love, Kristin

Carol,
I have a little more time so I wanted to respond to your post. I am glad you shared the story of Reid and the show that helped you and Dale so much through those rough spots and the pain. I am glad there was a song that they sang that you were able to have at Reid's service and that they were so willing to get it to you. Thank you for sharing his message and the link to get to it, it was powerful and amazing.
Second, to your first post. That picture of you and Reese is great. You two look happy and it's just a good picture. The chicken dance one is also adorable, Reese is looking like she is not sure what to do and Riley so sure of herself. I am glad the girls had a good birthday week.
I am glad you continue with your boy's page, it is truly their page and the page that you should share the journey you and your family go through as you grieve for two precious and amazing baby boys. People who come to your page to read about you all, care about you and in some way, your boys have touched them as has your journey. I wish I had words of wisdom to tell you that you are okay and that you didn't pass anything on but I can't, the only thing I can say to you is I pray for you and your family everyday and that you all stay as healthy as can be and what claimed the lives of Reid and Randon, never happens again to anyone especially your daughters. I pray to God to spare you and your family anymore grief.
As I read your entry about 2008, it tugs at my heart because you are right, so right about the pop divas who walk away from their children. Spears would be an example of that, two boys that need their mommy but she is too busy or struggling with something to much to be there for them. In this area, we lost a Marine and her unborn son to a murder, I am sure you have heard the story but next Saturday, I will be at the funeral as I student taught in 2005 at BHS and was privledged enough to have had Maria in my class.
I am sending love, hope and prayers your way, Carol. It's okay to have your days, you have survived the death of two amazing and beautiful boys, you have three daughters who you worry about. You are amazing and an inspiration to many.

Carol, I read your entry earlier before you posted that second message but didn't have a chance to respond but now I do but I can't respond to your earlier post. I just watched almost all of Bronner's dad talk. It was powerful and has me in tears. I am sure Reid and Randon were there to welcome him into heaven with open arms. Remembering your boys with love as always and sending my love to you and the rest of the Miller family.

Carol,
I read your updates often. You have no idea how much I appreciate your honesty. I also want you to know you are helping me to realize that my 13 year old daughter IS a gift, even though it can be difficult with a teenager in the house! I bet you've read this before but I feel it is worth reading again "Grief is neither a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith......it is the price of love." Just wanted to share in hopes that it will bring you some comfort. Keep sharing your love! It does make a difference!

Carol,
It is perfectly FINE for you to still grieve for your two beautiful boys. If I had lost my son, much less two children, I don't know if I could go on. Your journey is an amazing one and I truly enjoy reading your entries. You are an awesome witness and thank you for sharing your family with us!

Carol,
I don't know if I have ever signed in before or not but I view your page a couple of times a week. You and your story have captured my heart. It has been almost four years since I first discovered Caringbridge...when my friend's daughter was diagnosed with ALL at age 1. Since that time, I have fallen in love with countless children and families whom I have never even met. As heartbreaking as the pages are to read, I have stood in awe at the faith, strength, determination and the mere ability to wake up and put both feet on the ground that these families have shown me. I think that it is wonderful that you have this site to honor your BEAUTIFUL boys and that you can come here and journal your feelings. My heart breaks for you and for what you have gone through. As a mother of 3 (2 boys and 1 girl), I can not imagine your pain. I pray that God continually gives you the peace that surpasses all understanding. You are right, it is so hard to understand the "whys" in this world. I feel the same way as you. Why does a wonderful mother have to give up her children far too early in life when others don't love, appreciate and care for her children the way she should. You and your family are in my prayers. Thank you for sharing your feelings. You have truly touched my heart and helped me to realize to live for the moment and not worry about tomorrow...to enjoy today and treasure the time that I have.
Your friend in Christ,
Leslie

I truly love that picture of Reese that Reagan took, it brings a smile to my face when I see it. Just the innocence of a little one being goofy just brings a smile to so many faces and not just mine, I am sure.
All I can say about your week is WOW! You are going to be busy! The girls love it though, I am sure, and I am sure in a way you enjoy it that the girls enjoy so many different things except for when they fall on the same day. I think it's great they are doing so much now, you're only young once so have all the fun you can while you can!
I hope that Dale is able to call you four often. I am sure he hates being away from you all. But I have a feeling that the our daddy's gone, let's sleep with mom slumber party are a true bright spot in his absence. As long as Reese doesn't know, she doesn't know she is missing something...
I do like your new website, it's great! I would write more but I have wrote enough and have to get on my way to school, it's snowing. I am sure I will be able to get on the guestbook but since I am on dial up and it's tempermental at times, I just want to say:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
HAPPY 14TH BIRTHDAY TO YOU, DEAR RILEY
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
And
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
HAPPY 4TH BIRTHDAY TO YOU, DEAR REESE
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!
Love to you all.

She was kissing his head!!!!! I walked over about the time she had been down loving on him and I asked her to kiss him again so I could get a picture of the two of them but I missed it obviouslly. Just loving on him that is all......he loves his Reese though so he didn't mind!!!! I have several more pics of her that I will have to get to you. I was so glad that you all came. It meant a lot to me for her to be there with Isaiah....thanks for being such great friends. Love you all and think of you daily.

Hey Carol,
I can't get into your blog or hear any music. It must be a problem between a Mac and my Dell PC....don't know, but I wish I could see and hear something. I can only view the main page. I'm not computer savvy either. I loved the photo of Reese and the wedding photo too. Your girls are so beautiful, each one in their own special way.

Better get back to work. I'm so swamped with Bowl For Kids' Sake preparations right now and for our big Kickoff event in late January. I eat this, dream it, live it, and it won't end until mid-March. Hope everything is going well in Millersville. Also, don't think I haven't forgotten that I owe you one, Carol, for your jab at me in Sunday School Sunday.

Love you anyways,
Your drunk and naked friend :) --Robin (this is a total inside joke that only Carol will understand and no truth in it whatsoever...just thought I should explain, ha ha!

I love your new blog. The music works for me, but I get an error message when I try to leave a message. Not sure why.
Thanks for letting 'us' into your lives. I love it! I liked your last post about living more simply. That has been my goal for months. SIMPLICITY. It's what I'm striving for.

I guess I should call you the Mac family instead of the Miller family, just kidding! Glad that you got your computer and I hope and pray this one doesn't crash out on you. One good thing about Mac's is they hold up really well and don't get virus's
Thanks for sharing your Christmas pictures! Though, I am disappointed that Dale is not in matching PJ's. LOL! I think next year you should tell him, he has to have matching PJ's:) I love the picture of Reid on your wall. It caught my eye the moment I pulled the picture up of the girls coming down the stairs. It looks like the girls had a WONDERFUL Christmas and someone liked her bike very much! Ride a couple miles for me, Reagan, I can't ride anymore because of my ankle. I was able to access them okay and I am on Windows and dial up so it took a while but I was able to see them.
I hope Dale's dad is doing better and that he is able to get around on his own soon but while he can't, I am glad that he has his wonderful son, daughter and other family to help him out. I am sure having Riley go to the farm will be something that will truly bring joy to her grandpa's heart to have her around and give her an experience that she will always enjoy.
Reese was BEAUTIFUL! That red looked good on her and her hair was just beautiful. Dale, you better watch out, you have three beautiful girls who you better keep an eye on. She's growing up to just look like both her big sisters.
Hope the year continues to go well for you all!
In God's Amazing Love,
Kristi

Carol,
It was wonderful to get a update on Maurice. Mom has been asking me daily about him. Dad is doing ok - taking day by day- each day is a blessing to both mom and me. I am in the same boat with the Christmas lights. Jeff is down with the stomach flu and I get the lovely task of taking down the rest of the Christmas stuff. Apparently, it's not what two boys want to do. I was not able to get the pictures on the computer. It said there had been a high volume for that website. I will try again later. Again thanks for the update. My family will continue to pray for Maurice. Take care.
