Hope you feel like celebrating
mardi gras tomorrow. I'm going to
a pancake dinner tomorrow at an
old, old church outside of St. Louis.
But, they probably won't have beads.

Hey, Kody. Sorry I missed you on Valentine's Day. I had a sick little girl and had to take her back to the doc's after already being on one type of antibiotic for a week. I sure hope you don't get real sick, and the fever goes away tonight. The Mardis Gras party sounds like tons of fun...I hope you are able to go. Love ya.

Kim, your photography is amazing! You have a special gift. I've seen some pics by a woman who started her own photography business recently and despite them being "ok" pics, they didn't have that oomph. Yours tell a story and capture feelings for all to see. Truly amazing!!

LaRae was faking taking her pill back in 2nd grade and I found them in her garbage can. She now takes them in front of me and occasionally I check her mouth. Yup, I'm a Mean Old Mom too! I told her I'm proud of her for not liking to take medication but sometimes she doesn't have a choice. Sometimes it's in her best interest.

I hope when she's a teen and the peer pressure is there to try stuff, she still has her aversion to drugs!

Have a great Sunday!

Hey, Kody, Doc, and the rest of the K-Klan. First of all, I'm VERY happy to hear that the monsteraches are gone! HOWEVER, Mr. Kody....and I'm sure you're getting tired of this, and are extra upset at Momma Doc Bear right about now for telling all of us; HOWEVER, my man....you can't be skipping those medications! I know you know that. I know the doctors know you know that. And I know your family and Momma Doc know that. But, if you are sneaking around with those pills, and you're ending up with headaches and other symptoms, your body is then trying to say "help me!" and take those pills like the doctor ordered.

I sure hope you all have fun today at the Winter Fest. My oldest and hubby are at their own kind of winter fest today, sledding and fishing and playing outdoor games and then tonight.......they CAMP OUTSIDE!! Yep, 10 degree weather (well, more like zero with the wind chill) and all! My 10-yr-old graduates to Boy Scouts later this month and this must be their way of "letting them in", haha!! All I can say, is that I'm soooo glad I have a warm bedroom and quilts to climb under tonight!! :o)

Hey, Kim...my "Moms" calendar has a saying every day. Just noticed today's is a Jewish proverb that goes like this: "A mother understands what a child does not say." Just thought I'd share...there's tons to think about in that one, eh?!

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!

Thinking of the K's today and hoping that you have a GREAT Valentine's Day! Kim, are you thinking LOTS of Hersheys (plain, no nuts) on Valentine's Day or what??? I just don't know HOW you can eat that without nuts???? Has Roscoe found his way into your heart yet??? Ohhh mom, just one haha How about a couple of bunnies?? We'll fly them to you! We also have a mountain horned dragon lizard...ohhh she HAD to have him and two years later, we're lucky if she gives him water now and then!! Poor thing, he is lucky I'm brave enough to go buy those wiggly crickets all the time and dump them in there so he can chew their little heads off while the rest of their bodies wiggle HAHA What us mom's do!! Have a GREAT weekend!!

Dear Kim/Doc, good job! Sounds like he's taking the new regime pretty well, and hopefully it will soon relieve many symptoms. So sorry about the monsterache, but glad Kody is back in school and feeling well. All of you will be in my thoughts and prayers this weekend. Oh, did I mention we are expecting a nor'easter tomorrow night? I'd be happy to switch places with you guys in Florida if you'd care for about a foot of snow! Lots of love, Linda

Kody,

I will send you all the snow you could possibly want..if you send me that 70 degree weather!! We woke up this morning, to about 5-6 inches of snow. This, after not seeing snow in a very long time. We had a green/raining Christmas! Went 19 days with no sun at all!! And now winter is back..and the snow wont' stop falling!!

Glad the monster-ache is gone, however...you GOTTA take those pills. We don't want updates from "Doc" saying you are back in the hospital or are having seizures again!!

I'm sure you are tired of taking them all the time. I know several people who are too, but sweetie..we love you and want you to do all it takes, to make sure you are able to keep supplying us with "funnies" and keeping your mom..oops, I mean "Doc" on her toes!!

Have a wonderful weekend!!

Hey K family. I hope you are all doing good. I ask tonight that you pray for a little girl I have followed for 3 years. She has Neuroblastoma stage 4. She is Christi Thomas and today she traveled to The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia only to find that her LDH markers had tripled to over 3500. She was participating in a clinical trial that is obviously not working. Her Disease is spreading"like wildfire" and her and her family could really use your prayers at this time as they face a most difficult decision tomorrow. to try something else, or take her home. Her website is christiThomas.com I love you guys and take care. Update soon!

Glad all is well with the K's! Tell Kody not to stress over the Math word problems too bad, I teach 7th graders and many of them struggle with deciphering them too. Just remember ROPES: Read, Omit, Plan, Execute, and Study! Those 5 steps have really helped my kiddos at school!

Hi, Kody Bear and Family! After I read this last entry I remembered that Kody and my Jake shared January 8th as the anniversary for finding their tumors. Ours did not come until 2003. I remember that this night 3 years ago, when in the middle of the night Jake woke up with a headache and nausea, my husband said to me, "this is the last night for life as we know it". He was so incredibly right. But here we all are now, 3 and 4 years later with boys that are strong and fighting still and victorious over their cancers. Our boys will prevail and January 8th will always be our day as mothers to be thankful that that is the day that the tumors stopped killing our boys because we started killing those tumors! Love the skateboarding pictures of Kody on the front - you are one talented picture-taking Mama! Have a great rest of the weekend! Hope those headaches leave Kody alone!

It's been a long time since I've signed in, but I always check on the "K' krew. I had to come back to your last post a few times, couldn't read through the tears. One very long roller coaster ride, that's for sure. Kody is one lucky guy to have such an awesome family to get him through this. And you are one lucky mom to have such awesome kids....and hubby. Your family is so special, so strong. You are teaching your kids how to face adversity with love, strength, diginity, and laughter. Hoping for only good times for the K krew in 2006.

Dear Kim, I am saddened by these hurting memories and all that beautiful boy (and you) have gone through. I am overwhelmed with thankfulness that Kody is still kicking cancer's butt, stronger than ever, due in great part, I think, to your loving family's unbelievable support system for each other. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Linda

Turned out that they had fallen in the hood of

them at home, he said "Oh no, those are Mrs. Pam's!"

Merry Christmas K family!!!! I hope Santa brings you lots of toys this year (hopefully ones that arent really noisy to drive mom and dad nuts!!). Your family is an inspiration and I hope that this coming year will be filled with lots of wonderful family memories. Merry Christmas.

P.S- Kim, Being the great mom that you are I know you were probably up at like 4am today with the crazy K boys who were ready to open gifts. Because of that I'm sure you'll be drinking coffee by the gallon today so for pity sakes women add some Bailys to that coffee you deserve it lol. It is Christmas after all and I'm sure Santa wont mind!

Merry Christmas from the Childress Family in South Carolina. We enjoy following your journal entries and felt like we were actually there for the puppies birth! My daughter, Leigha, was in the hospital two weeks ago and got to meet Shelton Benjamin and have her picture taken with him. None of her friends knew who he was, but she said, "I bet Kody would know who he is." Isn't it funny how we actually feel like we get to know people through Caringbridge? Anyway, hope you and yours have a Happy and Healthy Christmas!!!

Ok, so I am TOTALLY losing it HAHA I read that you found a dead mouse on your computer desk and thought (ewwwww) but then read that you went to Office Depot and it was all better and thought "what the heck did she get there to help with a dead mouse??"" Ok, I swear, I use the computer every day but it must be that darn cat who "ADOPTED US" and is now sleeping in our garage every night...complete with his own cat bed, litter box, unlimited supply of food and cat treats (our "REAL" cat won't even eat treats!!) that has me thinking literally!! Ohhhhhh boy!! Anyway!!!! Glad the computer is working again, we have lost two hard drives in the last year and I KNOW how frustrating it is!!!

How ADORABLE to have new puppies!!!! I am NOT telling my hubby or he will want one!! We have two dogs already (and I GUESS you can now say we have two cats too!! hee hee) plus two bunnies, two lizards, GOSH...WHAT IS THIS, NOAH'S ARK?? So if any pilots call you saying they would like to pick up a puppy, say NO!! haha

Have a WONDERFUL Christmas and give everyone a HUG for me!!

Little souls serene and bright,
Each a glimpse of what we are

Kim,
I don't know if I've ever made a Guestbook entry, but I have been following Kody's story for almost a year now. I enjoy your entries and especially love your photos. (You have incredible talent!) Anyway, I sent you an e-mail regarding the My Chemical Romance "action figures" but then it occurred to me that you might not open mail from someone you don't know. Anyway, the site said that Hot Topic is supposed to carry them. If you have one in your mall (doesn't every mall?), check them out! Hope it proves successful! Jeeez louise.... now I have to come grovelling back.... Ya know I HAVE to let you slide now on the update thing now.... AND beg forgiveness... Leave it to you K's to have actually had bona fide calamity that kept you from updating. :( I'm sorry. Kody Bear, how're you feeling Honey? I'm sorry you had a not-so-fun day Babe! I hope you're feeling better soon! Well, we're going to be hunkering down with you tonight and tomorrow... We're supposed to be getting some more snow here, so we're all going to be doing that hibernating bear thing too! Kim, hang in there! I do believe, honestly I do, that better days ARE coming! I believe that the chips are going to fall into place, and ClickChick, HotShot or whatever is going to SlingShot to the stars, whisking away with it, a lot of the busy nonsense that creeps in and manages to cloud up the days there in sunny Florida! Just think, if we didn't have to worry about all that STUFF... man, we'd be on EASY STREET wouldn't we? Oh, not to worry about the necessities would just be sooo nice, wouldn't it? ;) Well, you guys are still in my thoughts and prayers as always! (((BIG hugs)))

Hey K's.....NEWSFLASH.... Today is December 5th!!! I have missed a few days here because of my father-in-law's house and all that, and... well.... here I thought I'd have some catching up to do.... ahem!!! You couldn't possibly have had more to do than me these last few days!!?? Sigh... :/ You just can't imagine... Thier house is absolutely gone. I was not able to find one thing there that was even remotely salvageable. We are supposed to go back and dig through the ash, but right now there is a couple inches of snow there too, so.... We are focusing on getting them some clothes to wear and a new place to live for now... Keep those prayers coming!! Hope you guys are all well! Love ya's!!

Thinking of you guys! Love the pictures ~ got a kick out of the fireman one...my hubby's "real" job is a pilot, but his "volunteer" job, is a fireman. Guess you'd say I am definitely a lover of uniforms HAHA Or maybe you could say that he believes that women love uniforms? On his volunteer application for the FD they asked why he was interested in being a fireman and I kid you not, he wrote "because of the cool uniform" You'd have to know him...he's also the one who when we went through Burger King the other day and he ordered with a halloween coupon, the lady asked if he could read what the coupon says so he replied, "one free 12 oz soft drink or slushie" (long breath....)[part or all of your purchase will be donated to the blah, blah blah...YES...he read the ENTIRE coupon to the lady. Sooooo, you see why we can't take him anywhere LOL!!!

Have a GREAT day and keep taking those awesome photos!

Okay- I just had to pop back on here to tell you that you have actually managed to fool three out of three of my children with that picture of Kolin! Sebby ultimately got very confused after I asked him if it was him (He answered yes), cuz I kept asking him "Are you sure?" so then he answered "No". When I then asked him how he knew, he said "Cause I can't lean back that far" ... and then another time "No, cause I don't have a shirt like that". So then I'd say "Are you sure?" and he'd go back and forth between yes and no! I kept them all in suspense and guessing, so eventually they starting looking at the rest of the picture (what they could see)... Max recognized the turkeys as being from Kody's site, so then he changed his answer to "Sebby's head on Kody's body?" and Ben changed his answer to "Sebby on the left, and me on the right?" (you could only see from Kody's mouth and chin down)... It was pretty funny really! I finally had to maximize it so they could find out for sure, and even with the names, I still had to tell them it wasn't Sebastian!! "So that's not Sebastian then?". We're still laughing! :)

Hi Kim,
I havent' been keeping up lately with my caringbridge sites but I was thinking of Kody and your family lately and decided to catch up. Glad to see the return of your dog. We have always had golden retrievers and they are the sweetest dogs. A bit hairy ( a lot hairy) but are so sweet. I'm sure the kids are happy she is back. I'm glad Kody seems to be doing well. We are still dealing with uncontrolled seizures with my darling grandaughter. It's not cancer but she has tumors in her brain. It is so hard to see a child suffer with seizures.

Okay- I'm back. One big Cub Scout Pack, one bigger-yet truckload of Cub Scout Fundraiser Popcorn, two Cub Scout Dens and one van full of popcorn later, and this Akeyla is ready to hunker back down in the den! It is absolutely freeeeeezing up here, in the 20's at night, and it feels good to be warming my eyeballs in front of the soft glow of the Compaq, AND I got on here FIRST SHOT TODAY!!! WooHOO! That, of course is why there is this fabulous update on here today! :) THANK YOU!!! :) Now- for the new news... First, Kolin- This is a blessing in disguise. It's like God came down with a giant paintbrush and painted all the mean kids red! Now you'll know who your real friends are and who all the nice kids are! Kody- you rock big bro! A little love thrown in with that torture goes a long way! ;) I say get him a pair of headphones- they won't "work" in school, but everyone else will think he's just groovin to the tunes! Kolin- you just keep your sense of humor Honey... Tell 'em it's contagious, and say "Hey- really sorry dude!". Tell 'em your Krazy Auntie Mave just hit the lottery and it doesn't hurt near so bad now that you're a millionaire! In any case- I bet this too shall pass... We're prayin for ya kiddo! Turkey Day'll be here soon and you'll have a few days off. Then, when's that appointment? C'mon December!! Chin up K's!! Love ya's!

Hi Kody
Today one of the Preschoolers drew your name
out of the Pen Pals basket. We are making a Prayer
Rock Garden at school...only the rocks are fancier
than the ones in my garden at home
because the children paint these. I put your
name on a rock with "FL" and we said a prayer for you
and asked God to bless you. I told the children that we
would paint a Prayer Rock for Kolin on Monday.

When it rains, it does pour! I'm so glad the dogs are back where they are loved. Any idea what happened to them? Just wondering, was the fence up when your big dog went missing several months ago? (Sorry, I can't think of his name, but I can picture those funny Hurricane Dog shirts!) It all sounds a little fishy to me. I hope you can figure out what's causing Kolin's tics. As if you don't have enough health issues to worry about! And I hope Kody gets better soon without passing it on to anyone else. Have a great Thanksgiving if I don't sign in before then.

I am so sorry that you and your family are going thru what you are. I don't know how much can be put on one mother before she cracks. Kim, you apparently have the stregnth of steel. I am suffering nerve damage from a botched root canal compliments of a quack dentist. When I start getting down about it and fed up with the pain, I think back to you and your family and Jacob and his family. I figure if you can manage thru what has been dealt to you, surely I can too. The internet is a wonderful support tool and it truely can put ones problems into perspective. I have the greatest admiration and respect for these kids and their family...they are definately a source of stregnth and tolerance for me.

Kim,
I have to tell you that you are one amazing woman and I love you. I read your sight everyday and I could not imaging dealing with the cards that you and your family have been dealt. You handle them with dignity and style. (I LOVE your style). You fight for what's right and what your family needs and deserves. They are all so lucky to have you in their corner. You are awesome and I pray for you and your strength everyday. I will continue to pray for your family and for Molly. Keep up the good work.

It's been awhile since we last spoke but I have kept you all in my thoughts each day. Everytime Connor plays DESTROY ALL HUMANS we all think of your crew and wonder if they are still enjoying the game! We will keep our fingers crossed for Kolin's tests to give you some answers and for Kody's awful headaches to stop. We will also pray, pray, pray for Molly's safe return. Fenway and Nomar (our mini-dachshunds-I think we sent you a pic) are members of our family and it would be devastating to have them missing. No child needs the heartache of losing a best-furry-friend. We will ALL remain hopeful. Be strong and hang in there - you always do and we all admire you for it.

I always have and always will think that the K's are one of the greatest families around. You guys demonstrate love, loyalty, faith and courage even when (and ESPECIALLY when)the going really gets tough. I really admire you Kim, because as a single mother who never seems to have enough time or money for anything I sometimes find myself throwing little pity parties for myself. Then I will read about something you've done for Kody or Kolin, despite the heat, despite illness, despite anger, despite being tired and frustrated, really despite any of the hurdles that get thrown in front of you and I snap back into reality. I think you guys are awesome, no matter what some pinhead thinks!!!

We blew off the turkey boxes, each kid had a friend sleeping over and I dropped Deb off at work at 9 and by the time the Lowe's thing starts at 10 am the boys were in the middle of eating breakfast so since they didnt know about it being yesterday, i didnt mention it... so dont tell me they were cute! LOVE the new pics!! ...and LOVED the creepy spider too (even though I can't stand them). :) I do think they're cool- just under someone else's roof! :O They had a couple really cool hairy ones in our pet shop, and I was there the day the "reptile guy" (who is a little local celebrity in his own rite) bought the Rose Hair Something-or-Other one... very cool. :) Even so though- being up to four slitheries is just fine by me, but I can't say I'd sleep well with that dude in my house. You're a brave man Kyle! ...and KIM- YOU'RE A BRAVER MOM!! Now THAT'S LOVE!! :)

Hey all you in the K world,

Although I am here on Kody's page alot, checking on our favorite guy and family, I know I don't sign enough. But you know how we care for all of you even though I don't sign. Was looking at all the photos of the kids together last night. Gosh was Kody and Cheyenne smiling alot. Just like best friends forever.

Yep, caringbridge has been acting up alot lately. Slow, hard to add, errors when adding, even hard to just sign in and leave guestbook entries. For us it started happening right after they updated their system several days ago, but for us anyway, everything except being slow has seemed to work itself out.

Hug Kody for me. God Bless and know that you all are always in our thoughts and prayers.
