Elijah, my son. I miss you greatly. I know you are where you belong; you are home. I have heard that time heals all wounds. I have found that while time can mask wounds, the delicate scars remain, opening when you least expect, or most want them to. I know I will carry the sadness until the day I embrace you in the Kingdom of our Father. I praise His name and on my knees thank Him for bringing us together - even if for a short time. I also thank and praise Him for delivering your sister and brother - Naomi & Nathanael. They too have taught me important life lessons, just as you instructed me on kindness, forgiveness, compassion, unconditional love, sacrifice, inequity, and survival - physical and mental. As I stood next to your stone today, I watched you brother chase the geese around the cemetary. Running in such an uncoordination fashion, eyes burning blue, and intemitent roars as he hearding the geese here and there until they flew off. His joy was perfect. No cares, worries, just a boy exploring and having fun. I could draw metaphors and comparisons, but I won't. The point is I saw happiness today, exactly 5 years after you left for Heaven. I won't deny thinking, oh how grand it would have been for Elijah to be running free, chasing the geese... but that life was not for you son, and so I also felt sadness. I am convinced you were called for greater things. Not many boys I have known have touched so many in so many positive ways - for that I thank you, teacher. It was my honor and privelage to serve you here on earth for as long as He allowed. It was difficult at times, but I would not have wanted it any other way than His. As Paul did, I kicked at the goads, but ultimately knew it was His plan. It did not make it any easier, but despite all of that, I dedicated my being in all respects to making sure you could have, experience, and live the fullest life possible. Elijahs, Elija-bear, Sweet-pea, Lijahs, Bear, I will forever miss and love you.... Love you to the moon and back!!

Every good and perfect gift is from above
coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights
who does not change like shifting shadows. James 1:17
That is and forever will be our life verse son. You were truly a perfect gift from the Father. Praise God!

The passage today is a little different. But the way I look at it, life itself is a battle and the Lord doesn't change. He was with the Israelites as they headed into the Promised Land, and He's with you, helping you and giving you strength to face whatever lies ahead. Always here praying!
Deuteronomy 20:1-4: When thou goest out to battle against thine enemies, and seest horses, and chariots, and a people more than thou, be not afraid of them: for the LORD thy God is with thee, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. And it shall be, when ye are come nigh unto the battle, that the priest shall approach and speak unto the people, And shall say unto them, Hear, O Israel, ye approach this day unto battle against your enemies: let not your hearts faint, fear not, and do not tremble, neither be ye terrified because of them; For the LORD your God is he that goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.

Romans 8:26-28 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. This is a long section but it's filled with such words of comfort....praying right now!
Revelation 21:1-7 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

Elijah, I cannot believe today would have been your birthday. I remember when I sent you a Blue's Clue dog and that you loved it so much. You were so special to me. It is hard to know that you are gone and that your sweet life ended so early. You were so special and I was so blessed to have met, loved and held you. My life has never been the same since I knew you. I love you little man and wish that you were still with us. God Bless your momma and daddy and your sister and brother. I know you watch over them daily. Recently, I found the CD that your daddy made you with the songs playing in the background of pictures of us. It was good to see that. Little Elijah, you are missed, loved and truly make a difference. Watch over your mito friends, especially Ellie as she needs your special care and love to come home soon. I love you Elijah Jermanie Kurtz, I am a better person because of you and I am forever blessed to know you.

A brand new year stands before us. Sometimes a new year is very hard to face. Other times a new year is welcomed with open arms, with hopes that it will be better than the last one was. However you look at it, know that every day of this new year is in the Lord's Hands. He's already there waiting for you with open arms. And I'm here praying as always.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

Dearest Elijah,
Thinking of you on your special day, and how your wings have given you freedom to soar in the heavens. Also thanking God for the privilege of spending precious time with you.
Eli, you are a precious gift and a tremendous blessing and you are missed. I am amazed at how many lives are still being touched as a result of your brief life here on earth. God's ways are surely beyond our understanding.
Sending you my love.

Rest assured we're here for you anytime and all the time. Right there with you.....no matter how long it is the hurt is still there. 2005 was a rough year for sure. We lost my mom in April then three weeks to the day our dad went to heaven, too. I think he felt if mom wasn't there why keep fighting. Then we learned of your precious boy going to heaven. I cried just as hard and my heart still aches for your family. Just imagine the sweet memories you'll be able to share with the babies about their big brother and all he taught us! Our God is so good!

Ann, You know that any time you want to come here to ramble or vent we will always listen. You are so entitled to this as you and Chad have been through the ultimate hell. I am so glad you updated, I have visited everyday (several times a day) since the beginning and need to have my morning Eli fix. I haven't signed in quite a while but you are not forgotten. I talk to Eli every morning and night at home through the special photos we have up. He is my last prayers of the night. You are definately in my thoughts everyday and especially during the upcoming days.
May GOD continue to bless you and keep him loving arms around you.

Sorry I've been away from the computer for a few days. Still been praying but wanted to share such special verses that remind us all that much more importantly the Holy Spirit Himself is praying for each of us perfectly according to His Will.
Romans 8:26-27 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

Hi Guys-

Just thought I would check in on you tonight as a very close friend of mine from Jr. High and High School was just diagnosed with colorectal cancer and she is only 39 years old (in fact one day older than me), they started a caringbridge site for her on Sunday. I know how powerful this site is as it connected so many of us to Eli, I think my friend Kelli is feeling the love and support already.

Just thought I would drop a note and remind you Eli is always in my thoughts and prayers.

Glad to here all is well with the babies! Oh how busy twins are!

Take Care
Love

Ann,
My name is Carmen. I found Eli's page by mistake on caringbidge. I'm not sure how--I can't remember anymore but I did. It was sometime last year (before Nov I know that). I am a believer in our Lord Jesus Christ. I truly know that God places us in eachother's paths for a reason. I remember how your story of your little Eli made me cry. I wept tears for you as I read your entries. I felt connected to your words somehow.
My daughter Lily was dx'd with Infantile Spasm when she was 3months old (oct 06)and our world spun out of control after that trying to find the cause for the IS. She had several MRI's, Pet Scans, VNS, Keto Diet, countless AED's and nothing was helping. It wasn't until November of last year that we finally knew why she was having seizures. After a muscle and skin biopsy in Sept it was confirmed that Lily has Leigh's. We've been dealing with it ever since.
You see the reason I'm writing is to tell you that I stumbled on to Eli CB site long before we ever thought biopsy much less Leigh's. And now her I am. Understanding your words in the beginning of your journey with your little one. I'm not sure why I'm writing other than to tell you that from the 1st moment I saw this site last year I have prayed for you and Chad and your precious twins. What a blessing from our Lord above to have given you that chance to fill (at least some of) that whole in your hearts. I just filled out the application to Eli's Angels because I happened to stumble across this site again tonight (I had forgotten how to get back here after the 1st time). That's why I truly feel that the Lord has allowed us to cross paths.
I pray for you this year that you have time, health, happines, HELP, and continued support from your friends and family.
God Bless you both and your sweet little ones.

2 Corinthians 4:17-18 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Ann, I still come here everyday even though your updates are few and far between. Just as when Skye and Eli were here on earth with us and your writing touched my soul the same holds true for your latest journal entry. Thank you for writing and sharing with us. You always seem to have a way when you write to put down exactly what I'm feeling too..and then I don't feel so alone. I remember how busy Liv and Lex were at 9months old I can't imagine how busy it is with twins!! Even if you don't update again for a few months I'll still be here, stopping by to see Eli, and always saying prayers for you and your family. God Bless!

Ann

This message is two fold. First, I came to the site to say thank you so much to Eli's Angels for the wonderful Christmas package and the thoughtfully made quilt that came for Owen on his birthday. He was soo excited opening the boxes this year. More animated than we have ever seen. Thank you for continuing to do such wonderful, hard work in honor of our children. It means so much, and I am sure you are both tired! All the inspirational cards and thoughts throughout the year means so much to us and to Owen.

Second, after reading your most recent post. I think the emotions you feel are very, very real. I think you have great joy and love in your life, however, you lost much too. I think having the back and forth of emotions could only be expected, and let it flow. Know that you will see Elijah again and that his presence is truly with us all. I keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Be well.

Well I come here every week...would come by more often if there was a greater chance of an update but can understand that it would be hard coming here. I just like seeing that you've been by and knowing that you're still hanging in there!
Am sharing two verses today. The second verse is God's own interpretation of the first verse. When dealing with all the "floods" and vehement winds beating upon us, there is only One Sure Foundation. Praying so as you face these "floods."
Luke 6:48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
1 Corinthians 3:11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

These verses were part of my husband's sermon text today. This is a really good passage and speaks a lot to us all as we face a new year. Praying!
Lamentations 3:21-26 This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.

Dear Eli,
Sometimes words escape me and sometimes I ramble! My kids and I were talking about how beautiful all the things are for Christmas, the tree, nativity and lights. Our thoughts turned to you as we discussed how much more beautiful Christmas must be in Heaven. Liam (as only Liam can)was thinking of the presents you'd receive, he wants a new sled so of course you do too! :) After eternal life with Jesus nothing could compare but a sled it was. We all imagined you playing in the snow, sliding down a huge hill, a place where you are never cold, the hot chocolate always has whip cream. We all love to see you doing the things your earthly body didn't allow you to do.
Last night I was reminded of you once again, I had given Emmy a bath, rubbed her with lotion and was snuggling her on my lap. Everyone else was asleep and this is our special time. I was rocking her and reading to her The Crippled Lamb and The legend of the Candycane. It reminded me of you and your Mommy, how whenever we read to our special babies, everything else seems to fade away. Made me realize that lots of Mommy's and Daddy's get to read to their kids but how many Mommy's and Daddy's are so blessed that we get to read to and hold an ANGEL in our arms?
Sometimes I don't understand why my angels are still with me and you are in Heaven. As much as I love my angels and love to have them with me, I look forward to the day that they will be with you my sweet Eli. Imagining them running and playing with you one day always brings a smile to my face!
So Eli, as you watch down from Heaven, please let your Mommy, Daddy, brother and sister know how many of us remember you and keep them in our thoughts and prayers. I know it's hard for your Mommy and Daddy to celebrate Christmas without you but I know how happy you are that they do. Your little brother and sister are so blessed to have such a special big brother watching over them!

Ann and Chad,
I must really apologize for not writing yesterday. I want you to know that I thought about Sweet Eli all day. There were thoughts of you both as well. You have been on my mind this whole season and I would like for you to know that I will never forget how much your sweet little boy has helped me in redefining who I am and what I do. Eli, as well as you both have taught me that we all need to live each day to the fullest and with the most love. You both are such an inspiration to us all. I cannot begin to imagine the pain and sorrow you are feeling. I have been sending my prayers to Eli for days now. He will never be forgotten, he has too much work left to do from up above. I know that he is watching over his mommy, daddy, baby brother and sister with so much love and smiles. I have been crying while reading your journal update and I find myself smiling through the tears while remembering Sweet Eli. He was an Angel on earth and continues to be your Loving Angel. You never have to apologize for you feelings. We are all here for you, in any aspect you need us.
Please know that I send major prayers up the the Heavens every night and we still give kisses to Eli every day (photos you have shared with us).
He is in my heart and soul forever.

Dear Ann and Chad,
You have been on my heart the last few days and I can only imagine what must be on yours. Elena was first diagnosed 2 years ago today with mitochondrial disease. Eli's story was the first one that I ran across as I began searching for answers. I remember reading with tears running down my face about his courageous journey and his amazing parents and I remember thinking that if we can fight this fight half as well as this family then we would be victorious. Thank you Ann, Chad and Eli for always being a light in the darkness. I am praying that God is wrapping His loving arms around you and that Eli somehow feels closer than ever until you can hold him again.

Chad, Ann, family, and friends I have shed tears today along side of you.
I know that words are not my gift, and even if they were no words could describe the grief my family feels on this day in behalf of you all and ourselves.
I know we only see in part what being in the glory of God is like, but Elijah knows now the the Agape love in completeness. Which we find peace in.
There has not been a week that has gone by over the last 2 years that Eli hasn't been shared about from Hannah. Even during our daily prayers, Hannah says " Hi Eli buddy! " ..
Eli touched so many peoples lives with his profound way of showing Agape love.
Chad and Ann you carry on his legacy so amazingly.
We do feel that Elijah thinks of Mommy and Daddy as you think of him! :]
Moreover, Eli along with God's peace that surpasses understanding will help dry
Mommy’s and Daddy's tears and bring a smile or two.
It is also warranted to grieve and be heartbroken when you think of you're precious Eli, as you miss him so, and the found memories that are treasures in you're hearts, as you along with so many others miss him soo much.
Love, Wanda, Hannah and Kyle

Hi Kurtz family,

We are thinking about you today. It also amazes me how many times Eli pops in my mind, and to think that I have never met him in person. It really goes to show you what an impact he has made in people's lives. We are very thankful for him and your whole entire family.

We went and saw Mr Magoriom's Wonder Emporiam yesterday, there was a line in there that said "Life is an Occasion, Rise to it" I believe with all my heart that Eli rose way above it, and I believe that you Ann and Chad have done the very same!!

We will continue to pray for peace and healing for your whole family.

Elijah Jermanie Kurtz... It is hard to believe that two years ago tomorrow you earned your heavenly angel wings. You were an angel on earth. That picture of you with your wings on is priceless when you were just 18 months. You came into this world with a mission and you did a job well done little man. I hope you are in heaven playing well with Heather, Skye, the two Morgan's, Ella, Kyle, Lance, Alec and all the other sweet angels. To look into your eyes in your pictures, the world changes, to know you lived, to know you gave all you could. To read through your journey of life with your poop stories and the impact you made in so many lives. You never spoke a word BUT you touched many hearts. You, my sweet Eli, did more in your short life than any one else has, my heart aches missing you so much but rejoices that you know no pain no longer and that you are in heaven free from tubes and pain... Joshua 1:8-9 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

Ann and Chad,
Your new little one's are beautiful. I couldn't tell you enough. I've been thinking about Eli quite a bit this week. I continue to pray for you both as well. As you've known, and I hope you don't forget, Eli changed my life. I am always grateful for the "can do's" in Lily's life and he brought me that.

A few years ago all Thanksgiving really brought to my mind was way too much food. Now as we approach this Thanksgiving all I remember is Eli. The disbelief at reading that he had earned his wings. I remember the first time I saw a picture of Eli and how you were the first family I had "met" dealing with Leigh's. Somehow it made me feel a little less alone with a disease that so few can relate to.
Wow, Eli I could go on and on what your family and you in particular mean to me, words just can't describe how thankful and blessed I am to have been a small part of your life. You have taught more lessons in life than I could ever dream of even if I lived life a thousand times over.
So Ann, Chad, and to the twinkies (Liam's idea and the name has stuck!), as we celebrate Thanksgiving, run around trying to get ready for Christmas we too are remembering our little Eli, how much we miss him and how greatful we are that he no longer suffers.
Ann, Liam wants to know if you give the babies frozen paper towels for their teething? I had to giggle when Liam reminded that's what we needed to do for Emma, cuz in his words, it always worked for Eli!
Our thoughts and prayers are with you!

To Chad, Ann we are praying for you during this time. We continue to remember Elijah. I am so happy the music was relaxing for the twins. They are such a joy. Just wanted to share a verse for all of you.
We are lifting you up in prayer.
Psalms 3:2-5 Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah. But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah. I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me.

Psalms 23:4-6 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Ann,
I am so glad to hear that all is going well. I know that Eli was there with his little brother and sister during their naptime. What a wonderful loving feeling that must have been for you to experience. I can say that I have been there for all the biting and bonding. I did this for almost three yrs. Derek has not been as sick as his counterparts have been. Doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. Go as long as you can, your babies will benefit so much. I would do it again in a heartbeat if given the opportunity. You are a wonderful mom. Your children are beautiful, all 3 of them.

I just finished watching this video. What a powerful message this particular boy has. I wish more people thought like he does. I agree. I have learned more from coming to these pages than I ever have in school. Not that all the children are mentally hanidicapped, but that they have many challenges they face in every day life. They may have many physical and mental limitations, but there is no stopping the unconditional love we all receive from these beautiful children. They show us how to love completely and with every fiber of our being. I am so grateful for knowing all the children I do. My heart has grown tremdously because of them.
I do hope you are having a great week. May GOD continue to bless you all and may Eli keep a loving watch over you as well. I know he is already......

Just returning from a short vacation and I have to tell you that you both came to mind. A single mom of ours was there as well with twin 2 1/2 year old boys...she was a busy mom as we all were helping to keep the boys occupied! Sure does bring back memories for us since our kids are teenagers!! So now we're still exhausted but for different reasons... Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Hi Ann and Chad,
I apologize for taking so long to sign in. We have been extremely busy the past few weeks at work. I finally have a few minutes to get on the computer for some personal time...
I have been visiting every morning, noon and night to see your sweet babies - all 3 of them. I love to look in their precious faces and see pure love... It sounds like you are having a few tough days lately. I wish I could be there for you. You are never out of my thoughts, though. Every night Derek and I say our prayers, we include your family and send them straight to Eli. I know that he is listening to us.
I hope that all continues to go well at home and that you will find the "normal" place that is right for your family.
We are all here for you forever.

I am so sorry that I haven't signed in a while. I have been so busy at work getting ready to go on vacation and then finally left. Only to get back to a desk filled with paperwork. UGH!! I was thinking about the whole family this past week and hope Chad had a wonderful Father's Day, praying that the bittersweetness was easy to handle. I know that Sweet Eli was sending his love down to daddy....
We had several butterfly visitors at the cabin we were staying at. It was beautiful.... Hope all is going well at home with Nathanael and Naomi. I am holding all of you in my heart of hearts.

Ephesians 3:14-19 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

I remember the late night feedings with Carson...and treasuring the moments - even when I was drop-down tired! (and that was only with ONE baby! - yikes! No advice from me on the twin deal...you'd have to lock me up! :) I think of you often - and of Elijah...and how he continues to touch lives. Take care...God has truly blessed you!

Ann, as I read your words of sorrow mixed with joy I can relate.
The day was bittersweet. To stand before the Lord and witness Naomi and Nathanael held in yours and Chad’s arms being dedicated to the Lord my heart leap with great joy and gratitude.

Elijah, while absent in the body is still present in my heart as well. I remember the Mother’s Day Elijah too, was dedicated to the Lord. Dedicated he was and serve he did in ways that continue to astound. In a short 33 months his life has impacted all who knew him or heard about him in ways only God can know. Elijah will forever hold a very tender part of our hearts and his legacy to us is unconditional love.
James 1:17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

The stabbing pain of acknowledging Elijah’s absence at times overwhelms my senses and tears of sorrow fall unrequited. The longing to hold him, caress his sweet face and smell his hair is so powerful it incapacities me. I wonder how ones heart can recover from such a loss. The void Elijah has left can not be filled with anything or anyone else. Oh, true there are new loves that come, but they are just that new, the void is not filled, for nothing and no one can take “his” special place. The memories are sweet and for now they must sustain me. The hope of eternity and the fact that this void is temporary keeps me going – for one day we will all be changed in the twinkling of an eye and joined in sweet reunion.

Ann,
So wonderful to hear that all is going well at home and that your Mother's Day was beautiful, even if there were a lot of bittersweet moments. I know that Sweet Eli was watching over you and sending his love to you, grandma and auntie. I can't wait to see your gardens this year. I am sure they are as beautiful as ever. Mine is getting there. Nothing big, but Derek loves to tend to "his" flowers. I have been thinking of your big boy so much lately. He is forever in my heart.... Hope you have a great week and the weekend is just as wonderful...
Love to you all

The verses today are in memory of a dear friend, Lisa Fewox. She went to claim her Heavenly mansion this morning. Oh how I miss her already!
John 14:1-3 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Congratulations on the twins! I followed your website through most of Eli's life and have checked back at various times since he's been in Heaven. I was so shocked to read someone's post about the babies back in March and have been dying for you to post an update. I think it's wonderful that you've been so blessed with two (as well as Eli) and now I can't wait until you put some pictures of them. LOL! Ann, you are a beauty. Amidst everything you have been through, you among many remind me that life is full of good and bad and it's not those good or bad things, it's how we deal with them.

Honestly, I have my days where I wonder if Lily might not make it due to her fragility at times. It tears me apart and hurts my heart to think about. I cannot imagine my life without her.

Yet here you are this woman who I have seen hold her son with love beyond measure - wipe his face, change his diapers, carry his heavy limp body down stairs, sing him songs and just snuggle...all this with real L-O-V-E, and even with his passing, you are here today with a vision to life that I am humbled by.

God bless you for the things you do for all these wonderful children. God bless you for keeping on when I know there must have been days you didn't want to. God bless you for your terrific humor.

God blessed me with you as my friend!

Remembering Elijah Jeramine the good and perfect gift sent from the Father above.

Oh, how we love you; Eli, daddy’s bear; mommies sweet boy.
You gifted us in so many ways; the snuggling of your soft little body as you modeled contentment when your mother picked you up, laid you over her shoulder, the look on your face was full with adoration. Your mom’s silly songs and tickling were a constant delight as she would chase the yukkies away. She always knew what you needed and when to give it. She communicated what you could not and met the need you felt. For you see Elijah, your mommy is also an extraordinary gift to a unique and precious boy.

Elijah as you snuggled into your daddy’s bare chest it was difficult to determine who was holding who. The aura of peace that emulated from your entire being as you snuggled created a beautiful picture of oneness- you and your dad. You didn’t need words to say “dad I love you” your body language said it all. As your dad passed through the room, no matter who’s arms you were in, your eyes, although limited, would seek him out. On occasion you would draw from the very depths of your being to utter a sound getting his attention and shortly you were in his arms, with a look that clearly communicated – “he’s my dad”. I’d catch your mom enthralled in the picture of you two and the vibration of love completely filled the room. To be in the presence of you, your dad and mom was like breathing in love it so permeated the air.

Your legacy to us is experiencing first hand unconditional love. Elijah the good and perfect gift has been reclaimed by his Heavenly Father with the promise that we will be reunited. One day in this valley of tears and this shadow of death, supported by your rod and staff, we will see Elijah face to face, in those pastures and beside those waters of comfort where we believe he already walks with you, The Good Shepherd, hand in hand. So in this hope we wait for that grand and glorious day of reuniting, reminded of your goodness to those who call you Lord.

Valentines...... To Heaven

This Valentine is not of the ordinary kind,
Its still filled with love...and blessings inside;
But mine has to be sent on the wings of love...
You see its destination is the Heavens above.

Its not being sent to my parents so dear,
For they are still with me each day of the year;
Its being sent to my child...who left earth so soon,
Who's now in the Heavens with the stars and the moon.

The message is the same as your valentine,
"I love you...my sweet precious child of mine;
My love is still deeper than the ocean is blue,
And its sent with hugs and kisses...from me to you."

"I know you are with me each and every day,
You listen as I talk to you...and hear what I say;
For that is one thing that disease cannot do...
...you'll always be apart of me...and me a part of you."

"I know God did not give you the awful disease,
Thank Him for His comfort He gives me...would you please?
I dont know what I would do without His undying love...
Sent to bereaved parents from the Heavens above."

"I know you are in the best of care,
But it's so hard for us left on earth to bear;
Could you put in a request from us left behind...
For God to send the knowledge..so a cure we can find."

"So that no other family has to go through this pain,
Our lives without you will never be the same;
When I get lonely I will look to the sky at night...
And see you shining down your big bright light."

Hi! Looks like you are starting to get some JUNK mail in your guestbook. Such a shame......
I was stopping by to tell you how much the boys enjoyed their last cards. There was a picture of a puppy with a bunny rabbit in Caden's......Carsen stole it :) Carsen LOVES puppies but is so allergic. Even when his autisic ways are flared up beyond my coping abilities, I can usually obtain his attention by focusing on puppies (pictures, movies, books, even just plane ole discussions of puppies). So, it was great fun to get those cards. Boy, Caden was upset at first.......Carsen's came the day before Carsen's! haha You should have seen him pout!
The Eli's Angel bracelts they got for Christmas was also one of Carsen's favorites. Carsen actually wore it during his last hospitalization. I should have some pictures of him with it on. I can't wait for summer for them to get to wear their hats. SOO adorable. Again, we sure appreciate all you do. I know a lot of work goes into what you and your team does. We love you and want you to know that every single card, every single hello we recieve means so much. Thank you...thank you for making my boys smile.

TO MOMMY and DADDY
Mommy and Daddy I love you two, but up here in Heaven we have so much to do. We help Jesus everyday, we're busy as can be, getting Heaven ready so one day you can be with me.
I can hardly wait to show you the place that He’s prepared, There's not a thing upon Earth that ever could compare. We get to walk with Jesus and sit beside the throne, He tells us beautiful stories, we never are alone.
Sometimes I walk behind Him and tug on his long satin belt, He smiles and shakes his finger "Now you behave yourself". Then He laughs and turns around and takes me in His arms. He squeezes me so gently and sees I'm never harmed.
I know you sometimes wonder why I had to leave, but Jesus knew the answer so you don't have to grieve. You see I'm really better off, I see no pain or sorrow, and when you finally join me here it'll be just like tomorrow.
Just keep telling people about His wonderful Love because it won't be very long and we'll be together above. Then I'll run to meet you and take your hand, I'll finally get to show you this beautiful place He planned.
Well it's time for me to go now, Jesus is calling me, He's going to tell us more stories, and it's my turn to sit on His knee.
So don't worry about me, heaven’s the very best place, I'm so happy here with Jesus and can’t wait to see your face.
Love, Eli

Wow, even Denver Broncos aren't safe from devastation! I couldn't believe when I heard that a player had been killed. Then soon after a college football player who'd just helped USC win the Rose Bowl was found dead. Life is so precious. Eli was so precious! Oh I miss that boy of yours!!!!!!!!!

I am so sorry for not posting earlier. We have been so busy at work with the year end billings and stuff, by the time I get home I have been falling asleep by 9:30 p.m. Way to early for me. I hope that this will find you both doing well and all is good at home. I have been thinking about you alot lately. I am beginning to get together some items for your Feb. book drive. I should have them sent out to you by the months end. Hopefully they will help some. I am praying that all is okay with the snowfall you have received in the past week. We have yet to see anything more than a flurry. It doesn't seem like winter here. I am hoping that we will get some so Derek will be able to out in his snowsuit before he outgrows it. I will be adding some extra prayers for you both as wella s all the parents of angels or struggling children. You and Chad are Godsends.....

Hi Ann and Chad,
I've been thinking of you so much lately and I just had to come by and say hello. I've only read back in your journal to the anniversry of Eli's death and I've stopped so I can savour your words.
You play such an important role for so many of us parents who's kids still struggle here on this earth. You are still such incredible parents to Eli and you always will be. Your faith continues to help me so much ...especially now as we sadly deal with the decline in Kirkland's health. I view your strength as a great source of relief to me. You teach me through your writing that I too will get through this but not without some very difficult struggles. Thank you for continuing to open yourselves up to all of us so that we might find comfort through your family's journey. Eli and Kirkland have always been such kindred spirits. I'm grateful for their friendship.
Take care of yourselves.
Your friends,
Kelly and Kirkland xoxoxo

Am sharing a verse today in honor of a special young man who went into the arms of Jesus this morning. Bet Eli was there waiting for him with a big hug!
Rv 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Hard to believe that Christmas is over again for another year, and that this year is rapidly coming to a close! Know that your family is in my prayers so very much as this year ends a brand new year begins!

I see the countless Christmas trees around the world below
with tiny lights like heaven's stars reflecting on the snow.

The sight is so spectacular please wipe away that tear
for I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

I hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear
but the sound of music can't compare with the Christmas choir up here.

I have no words to tell you of the joy their voices bring
for it is beyond description to hear the angels sing.

I know how much you miss me, I see the pain inside your heart
for I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

I can't tell you of the splendor or the peace here in this place
Can you just imagine Christmas with our Savior face to face?

I'll ask him to lift your spirit as I tell him of your love
so then pray for one another as you lift your eyes above.

Please let your hearts be joyful and let your spirit sing
for I am spending Christmas in heaven and I'm walking with the King.

Dear Mr. Hallmark,

I am writing to you from heaven, and though it must appear,
A rather strange idea, I see everything from here,
I just popped in to visit, your stores to find a card,
A card of love for my parents, as this day for them is hard,
There must be some mistake I thought, every card you can imagine,
except I could not find a card, from a child that lives in heaven,
they are still a parent too, no matter where I reside,
I had to leave, they understand, but oh the tears they cried,
I thought that if I wrote to you, that you would come to know,
that though I live in heaven now, I still love my parents so,
they talk with me, and dreams with me, we still share laughter too,
memories are our way of speaking now, would you see what you can do?
my parents carry me in their heart, their tears they hide from sight,
they plants flowers in my garden, there my living memory dwells,
they writes to other grieving parents, trying to ease there pain as well,
so you see Mr. Hallmark, though I no longer live on earth,
I must find a way, to remind her of her wondrous worth,
they need to be honored, and be remembered too,
just as the children of the earth will do,
thank you Mr. Hallmark, I know you will do your best,
find a way to tell them, how much they mean to me,
until I can do it for myself, when she joins me in eternity.

I know Christmas must be so hard for you although I can't comprehend how difficult it must be.

All my love,

Viks

I've been praying for Morgan R for a long time now. I was really surprised that she went downhill so quickly. She's such a sweetie. Concerned that there aren't any new updates, but know that the family needs to be with Morgan rather than on the computer.
I know that as each new family has to deal with their little one going Home it's like salt being poured in your open wound. In the early years after I lost James to a miscarriage I'd hear stories of similar losses and it would cause my heart to ache so much. So know how all these are effecting you, too, plus adding on the time of the year...so saying extra prayers for you right now!
May the Lord's right hand always hold you up!

Oh my! NOW I'm crying...Chad-I can't even SAY what a way you have with words. Eli knew how much you love him! To lose a child is the greatest hell one can live on earth (as far as I know)...I can't imagine anything worse. I'm now 6 1/2 years out from my daughter's birth to heaven...I have learned to live with the awful fact...but it's not easier. I have just learned how to live with something that was not my will. "God is not to be understood by man, only trusted." Those words were written in a card we received after Cass went to heaven. They have touched my heart every day since. I know you trust Jesus and I can't wait for the day we'll all be together in heaven with Him and our precious children! God bless you! I thought of you on the 25th - and I prayed for you & Ann...

I thought of you with love today,
but that is nothing new.
I thought about yesterday and the day before too.
I think of you of in silence, I often say your name
But all I have is memories, and your picture in a frame.
Your memory is my keepsake
with which I'll never part
God has you in his keeping
I have you in my heart
I shed tears for what might have been
A million tears I cried
if love alone could have saved you
you never would have died
In life I loved you dearly
in death I have you still
In my heart you hold a place
no one could ever fill
It broke my heart to lose you
but you didn’t go alone
For a part of me went with you
the time God took you home.

I can't believe it's been a whole year already!
Both of you are in my thoughts and prayers so very much!
But what's more important is what this passage says. It's my very favorite passage. It says that the Holy Spirit Himself is praying for you! Oh what comfort these verses bring!
Rom.8:26-27: Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

Ann and Chad,

I'm at a loss for words. I can feel your pain. You are such amazing people. Elijah - dancing and running and singing is such a happy thought but certainly clouded by great sorrow. A year since he passed is hard to believe. I'm sure it feels like an eternity to you. Though Elijah isn't physically, here with us, his memories are vivid. He lives through you and always will - till you meet again. Then, it will be time to make some more memories - memories that involve something you have yet to physically experience: Dancing, laughing, talking, running, playing in the sand... flying through Heaven's skies with Eli - Utter joy and peace.

Please know that I will NEVER lose sight of Eli's spirit. I know he's still very alive. Elijah won his way into my heart as well as many other's. What a precious little boy.

Much, much love to Angel, Elijah Kurtz.

Chad, Thank you for sharing your thoughts, feelings, and memories with us. Like Ann you are so eloquent with your words. with many thoughts and prayers. God Bless I also want you to know that I have struggled with going to church since my sweet Skye went to Heaven, it has been too painful. My oldest daughter asked me to promise her today if we could at least make it to 6pm service. After reading your words I have found some courage and will be going this evening. I thank you for that.

Ann and Chad, you are in our thoughts and prayers today. We again are thankful to have known Eli and to have been a part of his life. I have said it before, my children are better to have known Eli, even if for a little while. He taught them about the importance of life. Some children never get this lesson taught to them first hand, especially by someone as cute as Eli. We miss him too! We can't wait to go out and see his head stone, it is beautiful and honors him.

Ann & Chad,

You are in my thoughts often. I am praying for your strength to continue the legacy you have started because of that sweet little bear Elijah. It's hard to believe it has been an entire year. I am so sorry for your pain & I pray that time will heal this, although the pain of losing a child seems like a pain that would only deepen daily. My thought & prayers are with you both. You are very lucky to have each other, love & cherish each other.

Always in my heart,

Dear Ann and Chad,
I have been thinking about you both this Thanksgiving Holiday. I remember reading your journal entries last Thanksgiving. My heart overflows for you now - as it did then! I know that it has been a difficult year without your sweet Eli here to snuggle with. You have been so strong, and I know that Eli is so proud of you! Not many people could continue to do all that you do for other children with the same disease - I am sure the work you do is both a constant blessing and reminder. As a parent of another Eli's Angel, I want to thank you for all that you do to help our family - through gifts, support, encouragement, and spreading awareness. We appreciate all of your hard work and kindness, and we want you to know how much we care for you. The incredible impact of Eli's life and sweet spirit will live on FOREVER! You are in our hearts and prayers today and always!

Oh Ann, my heart breaks for both of us. I feel the same way you do. I hate thinking of the day that Skye went to heaven, I try only to think of the good times but sometimes that is just as painful. Being sad and grieving is so hard and exhausting. Most people say time will make it better and heal things. But I'm with you it only seems to get harder but maybe we feel that way being it's the holiday season. I wish I had words to comfort you but there are no words. My prayers for you and Chad and myself are for peace and comfort in our hearts especially during the difficult moments and holiday season. Being angry and bitter is something to comes into my heart at times too. And it is then that I draw from my faith in God. Our little ones time here with us was so short and at times painful and filled with worry but now I try to live to be the best person I can be. Ann you amaze me with all that you do for others, with your eloquent words, and your strength. Thank you for sharing Eli with us and for sharing your thoughts and feelings. With much love and hugs God Bless www.caringbridge.org/oh/skyecoleycole

Ann and Chad, our thoughts and prayers are with you today as it is the one year anniversary of Eli's passing. This has been a hard year for us also as we celebrated Heather's (and fellow Eli's Angel member)anniversary in September. The Gap

The gap between those who have lost children and those who have not is profoundly difficult to bridge. No one, whose children are well and intact can be expected to understand what parents who have lost children have absorbed and what they bear. Our children come to us through every blade of grass, every crack in the sidewalk, every bowl of breakfast cereal. We seek contact with their atoms, their hairbrush, their toothbrush, their clothing. We reach for what was integrally woven into the fabric of our lives, now torn and shredded.
A black hole has been blown through our souls and, indeed, it often does not allow the light to escape. It is a difficult place. For us to enter there is to be cut deeply, and torn anew, each time we go there, by the jagged edges of our loss. Yet we return, again and again, for that is where our children now reside. This will be so for years to come and it will change us profoundly. At some point in the distant future, the edges of that hole will have tempered and softened but the empty space will remain - a life sentence.
Our friends will change through this. There is no avoiding it. We grieve for our children, in part, through talking about them and our feelings for having lost them. Some go there with us, others cannot and through their denial and a further measure, however unwittingly, to an already heavy burden. Assuming that we may be feeling "better" six months later is simply "to not get it." The excruciating and isolating reality that bereaved parents feel is hermetically sealed from the nature of any other human experience. Thus it is a trap - those whose compassion and insight we most need are those for whom we abhor the experience that would allow them that sensitivity and capacity. And yet, somehow there are those, each in their own fashion, who have found a way to reach us and stay, to our comfort. They have understood, again each in their own way, that our children remain our children through our memory of them. Their memory is sustained through speaking about them and our feelings about their death. Deny this and you deny their life. Deny their life and you no longer have a place in ours.
We recognize that we have moved to an emotional place where it is often very difficult to reach us. Our attempts to be normal are painful and the day to day carries a silent, screaming anguish that accompanies us, sometimes from moment to moment. Were we to give it its own voice we fear we would become truly unreachable, and so we remain "strong" for a host of reasons even as the strength saps our energy and drains our will. Were we to act out our true feelings we would be impossible to be with. We resent having to act normal, yet we dare not do otherwise. People who understand this dynamic are our gold standard. Working our way through this over the years will change us as does every experience - and extreme experience changes one extremely. We know we will have recovered when, as we have read, it is no longer so painful to be normal. We do not know who we will be at that point or who will still be with us.
We have read that the gap is so difficult that, often, bereaved parents must attempt to reach out to friends and relatives or risk losing them. This is our attempt. For those untarnished by such events, who wish to know in some way what they, thankfully, do not know, read this. It may provide a window that is helpful for both sides of the gap.

Hopefully this will work...don't know if you know about CarePages. They're like CB except they send notices when pages are updated. Anyway, I haven't been able to get into them all day and it's been really frustrating. I think all the pages are just getting so overwhelmed because there are so many in need.
You looked great and congrats on the award!
