Greetings friends and family,

As we recently posted on the Cedar Rapids Zen Center's website, on Saturday May 25 at 4PM, a traditional 49-day hoji (memorial service) will be held for Zuiko at Prairiewoods in Hiawatha, IA.  Following the service, at 7 pm we will bury her ashes at the Cedar Rapids Zen Center.  The officiant will be the head of Sotoshu in North America, Gengo Akiba, and he will be accompanied by several other representatives of the denomination.  

Prairiewoods is making accommodations available for those coming from out of town.  Please see its website for information about rooms and rates, and call its office at 319-395-6700 to make reservations.  Accommodations may also be available at Country Inn & Suites at the Cedar Rapids Airport.  No reservation is needed for the ceremonies themselves.

Virtual participation is likely to be possible.  Please monitor Jikyouji’s website for more information about this event as it becomes available.
