Greetings friends and family,
After celebrating Buddha's birthday with our friends at the Nebraska Zen Center, members of the Cedar Rapids Zen Center sangha held a small memorial service at the funeral home and crematorium, where Zuiko's body was cremated. We felt the presence of our larger sangha, those of you near and far, with us. Thank you all for the kindness you have shown Zuiko and our sangha during this difficult time.
The Cedar Rapids sangha will continue to recite the Heart Sutra daily at noon, dedicating the merit to Zuiko, until her 49th day Hoji (which will be held on Saturday, May 25 in Cedar Rapids.) We invite all of you to take a moment, wherever you are, and recite the Heart Sutra with us.
We will post an update about Zuiko's 49th day Hoji here, and on the website. I will also email information out. All are welcome to attend, either in person or virtually.
Finally, the Stewart-Baxter Funeral Home has posted Zuiko's obituary, and created a tribute wall, for her at the link below:
