Journal entry by Matthew Smith —
At 7 pm on Thursday night our Dad and hero - William David Smith - was called home to be with the Lord. After a 12+ year battle with Parkinson’s, we are comforted to know that Dad is no longer suffering. He passed away peacefully, without pain, and surrounded in love by his children.
Anyone who knew my Dad knew that his kids were the primary focus in his life. He provided us with many lifetimes of memories, love, support and fun. He was incredibly proud of us, and we were the luckiest kids in the world to be able to call him “Dad”.
On behalf of my family, we would like to thank everyone for the tremendous outpouring of love and support these past few days. This has been a true gift for all of us during one of life’s darkest moments.
We will miss Dad more than we can ever put into words, but we know in our hearts that one day we will see him again. ❤️
