Tristan’s Story

Site created on January 22, 2022

Welcome to Tristan's CaringBridge website. This page was created to help keep everyone up to date on Tristan and his journey through this difficult time. Matt and Araceli desire to reach out to everyone who has contacted them and do appreciate all the prayers, support and encouragement. They are currently overwhelmed by all that support and cannot get back to everyone while also being with Tristan. In the meantime, they intend to use this page so that everyone can have updated information.
In addition, a GoFundMe page has been started for those who wish to help through monetary means.
A Mealtrain will be set up for when they are back at home. (unknown time as of now)

Journal entry by Matt Burgason

Journal Entry 5/17/2022

It’s been way too long since my last journal entry on March 23!  It’s been just over 4 months since Tristan had his stroke and what a journey it has been!  We went back to Iowa City for a follow-up visit with his neurologist as well as addition MRI and MRA scans.  A bit discouraging to hear the neurologist felt Tristan should be further along in his recovery but through that minor set back we continue to see God at work in so many ways.  We continue to place our trust and hope in our Lord and Savior for Tristan’s healing.  What a teaching opportunity to totally rely on God Providence throughout this trial.

As we continue with Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy, we’ve augmented his treatments with acupuncture as well as alternative medicines.  Our neurologist referred us to the Plasticity Clinic in Denver, and we are currently in our 2nd day of a 5 day treatment.  Very intense and a wide variety of different treatments including a hyperbaric chamber to maximize blood flow in the brain.

So many people have come along side of us with prayers and encouragement!  As always, I’m so humbled by the outpouring of support.   We are looking ahead to many options including coming back for an additional 1 – 2 weeks as well as beginning a conversation whether stem-cell therapy might be a viable option.

Please continue to keep up in your prayers, we’re so thankful for the progress he’s made thus far and continue to trust and rest in our Heavenly Father!
