Syndie has been home now for about 3 weeks and everything is going according to plan. She has been gradually going off medication and is generally feeling pretty good. She has so far avoided infections and any adverse effects from the transplant!
Her blood cells are coming back quite nicely and the results of the bone marrow biopsy confirm that the cells are coming from the donor's marrow. She finished up this week one of her main anti-rejection drugs. That will allow her white blood cell counts and her defense lines to come back quicker. The watch out then will continue to be for any rejection related side effects now that that medicine is complete.
She is today at day 40 post transplant, so well on her way to the 100 day milestone that is generally regarded as past the main concern points. She will continue to be relatively isolated for the next two months, but if all things continue to work out well, be back into a more normal routine in August.
She continues to impress her doctors and nurses to the upside so we are hoping that will continue. And she was super happy to attend Tate's graduation yesterday!
Thank you for your continued prayers.
Erik
