Home!
Syndie was discharged today and is super happy to be back home! So far everything is normal. She hasn't had any infections, and no signs yet of rejection (graft-host). She is off to a great start!
She is not out of the clear though. The first 100 days post implant are still high risk for her for both infection as well as graft-host diswase. With a bone marrow transplant she has to grow a complete new immune system, and that takes about three months. And the first 100 days are when the most serious graft-host reactions occur. So, for these reasons she will be going to outpatient visits pretty frequently and especially in the next 4 weeks.
She will also remain at home during this period (when not at the clinic). Outside of graduation she will be generally self-isolating. For reference today is day 19 and day 100 is 8/1. So if you don't see her around, you know why.
Thank you for your prayers and support!
