Hello! It has been a while since I posted an update so thought I would bring you up to speed. Steve is healing really well. The hardest thing is getting him to gain weight. Imagine being told you can eat whatever you want! It is getting better - he treats food like medicine - you may not want it, but you have to take it! As of right now, all the scans are clear and there has been no detection of cancer. THANK YOU GOD!
However (you know there always seems to be a however), he has been getting fluid buildup around his right lung. He has had it drained several times, but it keeps reappearing. His doctor in Milwaukee has recommended a Talc Pleurodesis. Basically, they go in and spray medicated talc in the area with the fluid and it causes the area to seal itself. The procedure requires a 2-3 day hospital stay but is nothing as evasive or painful as what he has already been through. Unfortunately for Steve, it is another thing that complicates the recovery.
We do not have a date yet. All of the other doctors Steve has have to sign off on the procedure (diabetic, heart, etc). But our doctor did assure us that Steve is not in any danger and as long as he is breathing well, July will be fine for surgery.
So don't pull his name from your prayer list quite yet. We still need a few more to get through this with positive results.
