Steve’s Story

Site created on September 20, 2023

Welcome to our CaringBridge website.  Starting in August, Steve began to feel symptoms similar to acid reflux.  Because of the heart medicine he was on, he thought it was a side effect.    It continued to worsen and on September 19th, a biopsy revealed that there was a mass on Steve's esophagus and that the mass was cancerous.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Lori Paul

Another victory, although I don't really know how to phrase it.  Let's just say Steve is now back in his big boy underwear.  The amount of time he spent in bed caused some boo-boo's on his lower posterior that have now healed. He is still eating pretty good as we learn what is easier and what causes pain.  He's also steadily gaining weight.  His home health nurse visit is now down to every other week and in home PT is down to once a week as his strength increases.   Next week he'll meet with the Ear-Nose-Throat office to get his vocal cord corrected and restore his voice.  One day at a time!
