Steve is having another Gamma Knife treatment today for a few tumors which started growing again. One section cannot be treated as it has had too much radiation already but the other area can.
He started on a clinical trial yesterday also- using immunotherapy to try to stop the tumors that are left. The study lasts 2 years and he’ll have infusions every 3 weeks or so. The treatment has worked very well on other types of tumors and this is stage 2 of this study. Pembrolizumab is administered to block a cancer defense (PD-1) with the goal of allowing the body’s immune system to attack the cancer cells.
Hopefully this works well and he won’t have to go through any more surgery or Gamma Knife treatments
