Steven’s Story

Site created on April 2, 2012

We've been noticing some differences in Steve's behavior, balance and cognition for a number of months.  His physician recommended  more exercise , and some PT for his back and maybe see a Neurologist to eliminate any more extreme causes.  He was very resistant to seeing the neurologist, but the issues became so exaggerated that eventually I insisted on going to the emergency room.  After some tests, a tumor was found in his brain.  The tumor is 54mm and located between the two frontal lobes.  The tumor was affecting emotion, balance, comprehension and causing tremors.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Shaun Green

Steve is having another Gamma Knife treatment today for a few tumors which started growing again.  One section cannot be treated as it has had too much radiation already but the other area can.
He started on a clinical trial yesterday also- using immunotherapy to try to stop the tumors that are left. The study lasts 2 years and he’ll have infusions every 3 weeks or so. The treatment has worked very well on other types of tumors and this is stage 2 of this study. Pembrolizumab is administered to block a cancer defense (PD-1) with the goal of allowing the body’s immune system to attack the cancer cells.
Hopefully this works well and he won’t have to go through any more surgery or Gamma Knife treatments
