On Christmas Day, 2023, Skyler was admitted to the emergency room with flu-like symptoms and what they thought was a spider bite. That led to a long road of tests and declining health that has kept him in the hospital ever since.

The first diagnosis from the liver biopsy was undifferentiated embryonal sarcoma. However, further tests at OHSU revealed Skyler's diagnosis as Stage 4 Angiosarcoma. This is a very rare cancer.  The symptoms are treatable but this cancer is considered not curable.

Thank you for your prayers and love for the Coppom family as they navigate the next steps. This CaringBridge will be a way to keep people updated on his journey. Links to a meal train and GoFundMe are also linked under "Ways to Help."

Journal entry by Kristin Coppom

Since round 4 of chemo, Skyler has been doing well over all. His platelets went down to 30,000 (almost needed a transfusion) during that time he bruised his leg pretty bad but it didn't stop him from going on a hike and playing 9 holes of golf. He always feels worse after chemo and yet he continues to push himself and have a great outlook. He loves to have fun and has so much love for life and all the things cars and outdoors.

Skyler had his oncologist appointment on Tuesday. All of his labs are normal, Yippee!! He continues to do injections every night (a blood thinner that helps his blood). He is holding off on round 5 of chemo until he gets another pet or CT scan.  He had an ultra sound on his heart today to even make sure it is strong enough for another round. He had his naturopath appointment on Wednesday and the doctor wants Skyler to double up on all of his supplements and continue on his alkaline diet.

Yesterday, he took me to the tulip festival and limped around enjoying me, enjoying the tulips.  We had great conversations and he encouraged me so much. Man, I love this boy!!  I'm so thankful to be his mom!
