Hi everyone!
On Wednesday, Shuvie was supposed to receive his second infusion of the new chemo, Trabectedin. When we went in for our appointment, he had blood tests done and unfortunately, his platelets were still too low to safely give chemo. With this chemo tanking his numbers so much after only one infusion, we started looking at what we can give him additionally to help his numbers bounce back after the next infusion. There is an injection he can receive to help bolster his platelets (he already gets one to help with his white blood cell counts). Shuvie has had nucleated red blood cells in his samples for a little while now, so the doctor recommended doing a bone marrow biopsy to make sure it’s healthy before continuing with the injection for his platelets. He will be getting his biopsy on Monday and as long as everything looks good, he will hopefully be healthy enough to receive his next chemo dose by next Wednesday. Other than that, his energy levels are improving, his appetite is starting to come back, and his cough is finally gone. We’re choosing to take all of that as a positive sign. I will update you all when we know more.
As always, we fight on! ❤️💜
All of my love,
Kait ❤️
