Hi everyone!
I’ll get the health updates out of the way. Shuvie’s last scans showed mixed results- while the rest of his body remains clear of disease, his liver tumors started to grow a little bit. This means that the chemo was working, but not to the extent we were hoping. With that news, we started discussing our next steps. We originally decided on votrient, which would have been an oral chemo that he would take every day. Shuvie’s insurance doesn’t cover it without cause. We didn’t want to delay his chemo any longer while we still had other options so we decided to go with a different chemo, and perhaps, more promising. The chemo that he will be switched to is called Trabectedin. We have an appointment with our oncologist tomorrow morning to discuss exact details. I will update once we have all of the details nailed down.
In other news, we have created a team for the Race to Cure Sarcoma event in September in Philadelphia. We really want to have a huge team so that we can raise money for sarcoma research while also having a ton of fun. If you would like to join us for the race (September 14th, 2024 in Philadelphia) or donate if you are able, the link for our team can be found here:
As always, we fight on! ❤️💜
All of my love,
Kait
