I have seen cancer in all of it's might
A memory within me that's locked in fright.
I have seen cancer cause you pain
It won't fade away, it's there to remain.
My eyes no more want to look
The thoughts of living were mistook.
I have seen cancer taking you away
While I am here...left to stay.

Hi Family & Friends,

I know I have not made a post in a while, and I'm sorry for that.  I am writing today to give you a difficult update.  As of Friday, May 3rd, Shelly entered into the hospice phase of her care.

The last time I posted, Shelly's surgery did not go as planned.  After months of healing it was decided there were no more chemotherapy options and she was put on an oral medication called Fruzaqla.
Fruzaqla is a prescription medicine used to treat adults with colon cancer that has spread to other parts of the body.

During this time, Shelly has continued to work, spend time with family and friends and has even taken a few trips.  One memorable moment was her first ever hot air balloon ride in Arizona with Cameron by her side.  After talking to her about this, she told me it was scary at first, but once up in the air it was so peaceful.  I can only imagine how beautiful that must have been.  She also recently took a trip to Florida with her very best friend Julie and was able to spend some special time together.  They spent their time laughing, putting their toes in the sand and making lasting memories.

That brings us to today.  Her latest scans showed that the tumors continued to spread.  There are no more treatment options to try.  At this point we don't know what the future holds, our time left together will be so precious.  Please continue to keep my sister and our family in your prayers.  I know some of you will want to see Shelly, but please keep in mind she is sleeping a lot.  Please be patient if you do not hear back from her right away.

I wish I could have come to you today with better news.  Remember to love your family.  Spend time, be kind and take care of one another.  Make no room for regrets.  Tomorrow is not promised and today is short.

With Love,

Christy
