Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow.

Winter is officially here in Minnesota as we all donned our shoveling or snow blowing finest yesterday.   8" of the "white stuff" blanketed the Twin Cities, setting the scene for the Holiday Season.  For those of you counting, you have 24 days left to make your way out to the General Store of Minnetonka to do a little shopping and enjoy one of their famous popovers with a cup of chicken and wild rice soup.  That is one of mine and Mom's favorite Christmas traditions,  that and having fried rice and egg rolls on Christmas Eve.

To write the above is akin to taking the most satisfying deep breath in and out.  After many many months of Mom and Dad's days being dictated by doctors visits, hospital stays, challenging recovery at home, we are now able to put things on the calendar that have nothing to do with doctors, nurses, PAs, and the like.  A welcomed reminder that It's a Wonderful Life we are getting back to.

I asked Mom if she'd like to share a little update and plan to have it be our last and final post here on her CaringBridge site, God-willing.  She agreed to put pen to paper or fingers to keyboard, to be more accurate, and so without further ado...

From the desk of Sheila Danielson:

I received an early Christmas gift last week after my second set of CT scans since my surgery last April. The results show that I am “clean” meaning no cancer anywhere! Hallelujah! I followed up with the oncologist last Friday, November 25th and my blood work also looks like things are getting better and back to normal. He said since I had such a toxic reaction to the chemo my recovery is taking longer, however, I should be continuing to feel better and better over the next 2 months.  The only lump of coal this holiday season is that there is a lingering GI issue I am still following up on.  Despite this, I feel extremely blessed to have received the good news from my scans and bloodwork results. Next scan will be in March 2023.

I want to say how much I appreciate all of the support I have received and continue to receive from wonderful family and friends! From cards to calls, visits, walks, pizza, a music concert, lunch and dinner dates, it all means so much to me and Bob.  Speaking of Bob, he had his 2019 knee replacement  replaced October 28th.  Everything went very well, but we know that it's the recovery that's the hardest part.  So, please send up a prayer for Bob’s knee to heal well and quickly.

Wishing everyone a happy holiday season and hope you all hug your loved ones!
God Bless
Sheila

On behalf of myself and our immediate family, thank you for visiting Mom's CaringBridge site during the past almost 10 months .  Having your love and support right here on the site or in all the shapes and forms Mom listed above, has been the extra bit of strength we all needed to keep faith during this journey.  It's no small thing that as we "sign-off" of CaringBridge Mom is alive, cancer free, and gently making her way back to full health and happiness.  One walk at a time, of course.  For all our blessings, including you, we are grateful.

We hope you will find a moment this Holiday Season to raise your glass to Mom's health and to resilience.

In 2023 may you be healthy, may you be happy, and may you have peace.

In light & gratitude,

Bob, Lindsay, Jordan & Alexander, Mike, Katie, Caleb, Jacob, Rachel, Sophia, John, & Isaac, & Andrew, Ness & Calvin
