Sarah’s Story

Site created on April 2, 2018

Hello! I am a 42 year old single mother of awesomely wonderful twin 6 year old boys. They are my strength, motivation, super star hero's and light of my soul. I started getting ill in September 2017. After a two and a half  month stay in the hospital I was diagnosed with poly neuropathy, encephalopathy, anemia and liver disease. This resulted to me being disabled in several ways and wheelchair bound. Around four months after being released from the hospital and learning to live my life in a new way I was diagnosed with cancer. I was just diagnosed in March of 2018. This rollercoaster is certainly the hardest life changing event I have ever been through by far. I have just accepted that this is real and not just a bad dream or mistake. Everything is still new to me and I am still literally in shock.  I am having a whirlwind of ever changing emotions, some positive and some negative. One may laugh at this, but I still consider myself lucky. I am lucky to have my family and close friends behind me pushing me forward. My little boys make me so happy that I forget that I'm ill when we are spending time together playing, laughing, cuddling or sitting in silence. My brother and mother have been doing everything in their power to help me keep my new life as normal as possible. They go out of their way to give me the special care that I need due to my condition. They also keep me strong, motivated and positive. Remember laughter and prayers are the best medicine :-)

I am having trouble writing my post because my hands don't want to cooperate. Gonna do my best though.
The boys started their summer camp program today and love it! Happy smiles and loving hearts. What more could I for?! Well, I could ask God for more time with them physically, but that would be selfish
in my eyes, because I don't want them to see me in the gross condition that I'm in right now. I don't want to scare them. Please pray that they feel the comfort and safety of mommy now and forever.

I have been sick. Not fun here. I'm surprised because I was trouping through treatments and completed successfully with a bang! I guess now is the after math where the clean up crew comes through. Hopefully the radiation and chemo mess will drain out of me in the next 4-6 weeks that I have to heal before surgery. I have 3rd degree burns down below and I'm having trouble moving every inch of my weak body. That's about all I can say at the moment other than God bless my family for all of their love and support. XOXO...P.s. Sorry to sound so negative.
