Sandy’s Story

Site created on January 16, 2024

Sandy was diagnosed with lobular cancer at the end of October. It has spread to a few different spots, and she's going through chemo. She also has other treatments to help with some of the other side effects.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Sandy Hays

It’s been a while since I’ve updated this sight- mostly because things have been “status quo” with weekly blood draws and chemo and doctor visits every 3 weeks.  I did see the PA and had chemo on April 11.  They also did a CT scan of my lungs which showed no fluid ( there had been some on my lungs back in January) and was clear.  I will be starting physical therapy on 5/6 in hopes of building back some more strength, balance and stamina.

As it gets closer to the PET scan this Friday, I catch myself having more anxious thoughts.  The clear CT scan and stable blood work do help, but I will be glad when the scan is complete and we get word from  the doctor on 5/2.  Another very encouraging blood test is a cancer antigen that is done every 3 weeks. Back in December, it was over 4000 and on April 10, it was 188! It’s still not within normal range (32), but a whole lot closer! When the anxiety starts, these are the things I try to focus on.  I know that this is evidence of God working on my behalf.

The following verse is my prayer, and I’d appreciate continued prayers for peace in the next week or so:

”May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13

Thank you all!   Sandy
