Quick update:

As many of you already heard, our family trip to Florida back in August went a lil bit differently than planned. Sandy had to be admitted to hospital for almost 4 days for a severe pneumonia. -Side note: If you ever want to know about our Florida Hospital healthcare experience we would have numerous unfortunate stories to share with you. Long story short, be thankful for the healthcare systems we have so close to home.- Sandy’s positive attitude and love for activity yet again didn’t stop her and the rest of us from enjoying Disney World (even if it did involve being pushed around in a wheelchair)! It was truly magical and watching Sandy and Scott’s faces light up with Brinley experiencing all of the magic that Disney brings was something we will never forget.

Luckily, antibiotics and some injections did wonders for Sandy and within a few weeks she was feeling back to normal. This past week, Sandy had a normal scheduled follow up appointment with her oncologist. It was noted that on a scan from Florida a nodule was found near her thyroid. Her lab values were also quite low. Her oncologist ordered an ultrasound of thyroid area and a full body PET scan, moved up from December to now. She has also been sick for last week or so with cold/flu like symptoms.

Obviously, we were all very anxious and nervous waiting for the test results based on how sick she has been feeling lately. Thankfully, God has blessed us again with negative PET scan and thyroid nodules that her oncologist believes are benign. They will continue to monitor these as needed going forward. At this time, her immunoglobulin levels remain very low! The doctors and nurses can’t believe she is still doing as much as she is. Likely why now, she is having another respiratory sickness-potential pneumonia. They have started her on antibiotics and are also awaiting insurance authorization to start an important IV infusion (likely weekly infusions) to assist with boosting her immune system and overall lab values. We are patiently awaiting insurance to approve this medication (doctor says it is an expensive drug). Hopefully they will approve it by tomorrow!

Thus, good news about scans! No cancer! Prayers are appreciated for Sandy to kick this latest sickness and help her to feel better, like she was before all of this! We appreciate people checking in often to see how we are all doing. We wish you all the best health of your own! Thanks again for everything!

P.S. sandy is quite tired this week so if she does not return phone call or txts this is why. Prayers please to get her feeling better!
