Samantha’s Story

Site created on June 30, 2023

In May 2023, the results of an MRI revealed the shocking news that Samantha has a brain tumor. A couple of weeks after the diagnosis, it was determined through a biopsy that she has a Grade 1 Meningioma which is affecting the left side of her face and vision in her left eye.  Surgery has been ruled out right now because of the location of the tumor and we are pursuing an agressive radiation treatment in our home area of Hampton Roads.
We are so appreciative and blessed to have friends near and far praying for Samantha and our whole family as we navigate the challenging road ahead. Thank you so much for your support and encouragement and we will do our best to keep you updated on her treatment

Newest Update

Journal entry by Karen Jackson

Our journey continues and Samantha continues to be strong and amazing. Today she has an MRI under anesthesia to take another look at the tumor. Our hope and prayer is that the meningioma has shrunk and will not cause problems in the future.
We do have another significant update. Through genetic testing we have discovered that Samantha has a very rare condition called Myhre Syndrome. While we are grateful to now have an understanding about how all of her medical issues are connected, there is a sobering list of new specialists to consult and a whole new level of testing to monitor future possible health issues relate to Myhre syndrome. Apparently, there are less than 200 confirmed cases of the syndrome in the world. We have always known Samantha is special…😍
Thanks for checking in and for your continued prayers. Karen j
