After an eight-month roller coaster battle with cancer, Robert Hue Nunnallee (“Bobby”) of Houston, Texas passed away on September 4, 2020 at age 74. Born July 20, 1946 in San Antonio, Texas, Bobby was the son of the late Bert and Marjorie Nunnallee. Bobby adored his family, and is survived by his life partner and wife of 54 years, Bonnie (Butler) Nunnallee; daughter Coby Lyons (and husband Duane); grandchildren, Nicole Lyons (and fiancé Gary Kretz), Kevin Lyons (and partner Tessa Walsh), Craig Culver (and partner Victoria Crouch), Kristin Miles (and husband Quentin), and Bowen Lyons (and partner Hayden Gray); great-grandchildren, Barrett, Christopher, Charlotte, and Sage; sisters, Nancy Nunnallee Davis, Debbie Nunnallee, and Dixie Nunnallee Evans (and husband Bob); and a slew of loving nephews, nieces and cousins. Bobby was pre-deceased by his irreplaceable (and previously inseparable) younger brother, William Bowen Nunnallee (“Billy”).
Bobby had a wide range of accomplishments – from being a member of the internationally acclaimed Texas Boys Choir as a young boy, to acquiring his private pilot’s license, to becoming a highly successful oil & gas landman during his professional years. Bobby graduated from Paschal High School in 1965 and attended TCJC until deciding to enter flight school.Bobby was reliable almost to a fault; able to strike up an engaging conversation with anyone, anywhere, at any time, from any walk of life; and possessed a lightning-quick (and sometimes irreverent) sense of humor.Bobby was known for his legendary work ethic and attention to detail. When involved in any project, Bobby insisted on the highest level of competence from everyone involved (especially himself), and he did not suffer fools gladly. Although Bobby could be a grizzly bear when warranted, at his core he was a docile and lovable teddy bear.Even at an early age, Bobby was the ultimate “fix it guy”. As a boy, his father frequently described young Bobby as being “handier than a pocket on a shirt!”. It is not an overstatement to say that his entire family believed that Bobby (“Daddy”, “Papa”) simply “could do or fix anything!”Bobby Nunnallee made this world a better place. When others gave up, Bobby forged on.
