Mayo Clinic:  Since the medical trial at Sanford was no longer taking new patients, my oncologist referred me to Mayo.  Mayo responded that they would set up an appointment for me so we are currently scheduled to have new bloodwork and new CT scans completed on Tuesday May 21 and then we meet with an oncologist on Wednesday May 22.  We don't have any more details at this time but just the fact that Mayo has scheduled an appointment with us is a flicker of hope!

Personal update:  The amount of pain I am experiencing is getting worse.  Previously I could successfully manage the pain with Tylenol but that is no longer the case.  I contacted my physician and he has since prescribed hydrocodone.  I am somewhat testing how often I need to take the new med and am beginning to think I just need to take it on a schedule and keep one step ahead of the pain.

I tire very easily and need plenty of rest.  When I know I am having visitors or want to try to attend an event outside the house, I get plenty of rest prior, to help build me up.  (I don't leave the house very often.). Eating is about the same as it has been.  Food does not have much flavor and I can only eat smaller portions, but at least I can eat!

Recent Blessings:  While I have to manage my time pretty carefully, it is good to have some visitors and attend some family functions when I can.
* Granddaughter Veronica's first communion
* A little Cinco de Mayo fun with grandkids
* A couple people from senior leadership at Yellow Freight that I worked for over the years:  Rick Mathews and Steve Selvig (who drove up from Kansas City for a visit!). Thanks again guys..... it was so great seeing both of you.
* Visit from some long time friends:  Mike Boldt, Cheryl Boldt and Brian Rude.
-----not pictured.....
* Visit from Pete and Sandy Johnson from Idaho (Pete has been part of our traveling golf group for over 20-years).
* Visit from long time friend Jerry Strating
* Visit from long time friend Lori Wood
NOTE:  I still have to get back with a few of you to schedule a time to stop by.  I haven't forgotten about you!   Just trying to manage my available time.

My Inspiration:
God is truly our hope, our light and our strength.  He stands by us through it all and he will never abandon us.  When we put our trust in the Lord, the most amazing things start to happen in our lives.  Even when we think he may not hear us, the Lord is always listening.  When we cry out to Him, He never leaves our side.  God is truly our compass when it is dark and the light that will always lead us home.   AMEN
