Newest Update

Journal entry by andrea murphy

Test Results:   When we started on this journey, I knew I had a very difficult illness.  It is hard to believe it has been 6-months already since my diagnosis.  In summary, they tried two different types of chemo and unfortunately neither of them positively impacted my cancer.  During the initial testing stages I was told I was a potential match for a clinical trial at Sanford.  Now that we exhausted the 2 types of chemo, the clinical trial option was reviewed but they are no longer taking new patients as their quota is full.  My doctor has since reached out to the Mayo Clinic to see what trials they may have open that I would qualify for.  The Mayo Clinic called today to verify they have received my doctor's request and hope to have an answer in the next 3-5 days.

In the interim, my doctor shared some very sobering information.  At the current state of my cancer growth, I may only have a matter of months.  That is certainly not the news anyone wants to hear, but at the same time I want him to be candid so we know what we are dealing with.  We will still hope for a trial at Mayo but at the same time we know we are dealing with a very time sensitive and serious situation.

It is times like this, that I am so thankful for a loving family and great friends.  You all have been absolutely amazing and supportive.  Along with my faith, your love and support gets me thru the tough days.  Thank you all so much for all you have done.  This is not only hard on me but also difficult for Julie and my family.  Please keep them in your prayers as well.

Inspiration:

When you feel exhausted and like you can't go on, turn to God.  He will give rest to your body.  When you are anxious and your mind is running a million miles per hour, turn to God.  He will renew your mind and give your heart peace.  When you feel overwhelmed by the burdens that you carry, turn to God.  He will refresh your soul.  Don't try to make it through life on your own.  Run to God and let Him be your peace, your strength, and your help when you body grows weary, when you heart aches, and when your mind won't rest.  He will lift your burdens and He will help you make it through.  AMEN!
